You disprove your accusation with your words though in recognizing the image as 'Him'. It's not the image but 'Who' is being thought of in looking at the image. No one worships an image.. the image is used to think of what is being worshiped. The same way you may talk to a passed on relative while looking at an image of them on your wall. God knows when we're thinking of Him using an image. The point you're trying to make comes from Old Testament times when people 'were' making images and worshiping them as 'other gods'.. such as the golden calf. If that is what is being done then true, it's wrong. But no one, including you in recognizing the image as God, can misunderstand an image of God being used to talk to God.
