The 2018 United States elections were held in the United States on Tuesday, 6 November 2018.

Appointments

The first director of national intelligence was U.S. ambassador to Iraq John Negroponte who was appointed on February 17, 2005, by President George W. Bush, subject to confirmation by the Senate. It was reported that President Bush's first choice for DNI was former director of central intelligence Robert M. Gates, who was serving as president of Texas A&M University, but who declined the offer.[5] Negroponte was confirmed by a Senate vote of 98–2 on April 21, 2005, and he was sworn in by President Bush the same day.

On February 13, 2007, Mike McConnell became the second director of national intelligence, after Negroponte was appointed Deputy Secretary of State. Donald M. Kerr was confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence on October 4, 2007, and sworn in on October 9, 2007. Kerr, from Virginia, was previously the director of the National Reconnaissance Office and the deputy director for science and technology at the CIA before that. Earlier in his career, he was an assistant director at the FBI, in charge of their Laboratory Division from 1997 to 2001.

On July 20, 2010, President Barack Obama nominated retired Air Force lieutenant general James Clapper as the fourth DNI. Clapper was confirmed by the Senate on August 5, and replaced acting director David C. Gompert. This followed Obama's dismissal of the third DNI, retired Navy admiral Dennis C. Blair, whose resignation became effective May 28, 2010.[6]

''The fifth DNI, Dan Coats, the sixth DNI, John Ratcliffe, and acting DNIs Joseph Maguire, Richard Grenell and Lora Shiao, all served between March 16, 2017 and January 21, 2021, during the administration of President Donald Trump.''

The seventh and current DNI is Avril Haines, who took office on January 21, 2021. The first woman to hold the office, she was nominated by President-elect Joe Biden on November 23, 2020[7] and confirmed by the Senate on January 20, 2021.[8]

White House Extends National Election Emergency Granting Authority for Federal Intelligence Agencies to Enter State Election Databases for Mid-Term Election

September 8, 2021 | Sundance | 297 Comments

''[…] “Although there has been no evidence of a foreign power altering the outcomes or vote tabulation in any United States election, foreign powers have historically sought to exploit America’s free and open political system.” … “For this reason, the national emergency declared on September 12, 2018, must continue in effect beyond September 12, 2021. Therefore, in accordance with section 202(d) of the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1622(d)), I am continuing for 1 year the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13848 with respect to the threat of foreign interference in or undermining public confidence in United States elections.” (LINK)''

In the lead-up to the critical 2018 mid-term elections that opposition forces needed in order to begin the impeachment path for removal of Donald Trump, the administrative state -writ large- produced an overwhelming narrative leading to the issuance of an Executive Declaration of A National Emergency to Avoid Foreign Interference in Our Elections.

At the time the narrative was framed (mid-2018) the argument was: if President Trump did not declare the emergency and grant the federal intelligence community the right to enter state election databases and “monitor” the activity therein, that refusal itself would be proof of Donald Trump being a Russian asset. Remember, the Mueller investigation was at its apex and the office of the president was surrounded by administration officials like Mike Pence (VP), Jeff Sessions, Rod Rosenstein (DOJ), Alexander Vindman (NSC), Dana Boente (FBI), Dan Coats (DNI), Michael Atkinson (ICIG), et al, carrying ulterior motives.

2/2

President Trump signed the emergency declaration and granted the Intelligence Branch of Government full access to the state-level election systems.

In short, President Trump was forced by his Machiavellian captors to seal his own fate. Yes, this is how the DC apparatus works. The Intelligence Branch of Government works with their political agents within the legislative branch and simultaneously coordinates with their media operatives to surround the target with fire until the action they need is executed. In the fall of 2018, the unrelenting pressure worked exactly as designed. [Federal Register]

It was not coincidental that most of the new 2018 Democrat candidates for office came from former and/or current CIA and intelligence agencies.

https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2018/09/21/ciad-s21.html

A few people wondered why so many ‘new’ DNC-approved candidates were from the intelligence agencies of the government. Some even coined the phrase “CIA Democrats“, but for the most part, it was ignored. The 2018 federal election outcome was delivered exactly as planned. Democrats took control of the House of representatives and paved the way for Mueller to deliver what they needed for articles of impeachment.

Fast forward to 2020 and the same Federal Declaration of a National Election Emergency was used to support the COVID mail-in ballot narrative, while the same intelligence branch operatives coordinated with state-level political activists to manipulate the outcome.

Just like Antifa could not exist without the support of the FBI, so too could the five state, seven-county, plan not have been successful without coordinated support at the federal level. Someone had to trigger the “all stop” at 1:00am ET on the morning of 11/4/20 in order to evaluate how many ballots would be needed to change the direction of the current vote as recorded at that moment. In my opinion that directing agency was federal…. with database access as an outcome of the previous Emergency Declaration.

“(d) the term “election infrastructure” means information and communications technology and systems used by or on behalf of the Federal Government or a State or local government in managing the election process, including voter registration databases, voting machines, voting tabulation equipment, and equipment for the secure transmission of election results;” (Link to Fed Register)

So here we are, September 7, 2021, with a mid-term federal election coming again. The scale of what took place in 2018 and 2020 was transparently massive. Now, think about how many people currently stand against the Biden administration. Think about the current scale of his drop-in support that was mostly cardboard cutouts and fake voters to begin with. Think about how much more manipulation will be needed in this 2022 mid-term…. not to win, but rather just to control and stem the severity of the loss?

That’s the backdrop for this announcement from the White House:

https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/presidential-actions/2021/09/07/notice-on-the-continuation-of-the-national-emergency-with-respect-to-foreign-interference-in-or-undermining-public-confidence-in-united-states-elections/

Any state that is granting the federal government permission to “electronically monitor” their voting system is granting the Intelligence Branch of the U.S. Government full control to modify, manipulate and change the actual voting results.

You see, once the government takes an action that is so drastic, so consequential and so corrupt in scale, they enter a place where there is no upper limit on what actions need to be taken in order to protect the prior lawlessness. This same zero-sum principle was applied during the Obama-era surveillance operation against candidate Trump. Once the Obama team weaponized the intelligence apparatus, specifically by accessing the NSA database to conduct monitoring of electronic communication, they entered a world where there was no way to exit.

That same corrupt snowball is still rolling…

The CIA Democrats: A balance sheet of the primaries

Patrick Martin

21 September 2018

With the end of the primary season, the Democratic Party leadership and their allies in the national security apparatus have completed the first stage of what might be termed a “friendly takeover” of the Democrats by candidates recruited from among military, CIA and civilian national security cadres.

The World Socialist Web Site first identified the phenomenon of the CIA Democrats in a series published in March. At the time we noted the large number of candidates drawn from the military-intelligence apparatus seeking Democratic nominations in competitive congressional districts. If the Democrats won the November election, we warned, such military-intelligence operatives would hold the balance of power in the new House of Representatives.

Of the 44 districts we identified in March—since grown to 46—military-intelligence candidates have won 30 nominations, a success rate of about 66 percent or two-thirds. That testifies to their extensive support from the Democratic Party leadership, from longtime financial backers of the Democrats, and from the top levels of the national security establishment.

There are 115 districts rated as competitive by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) or by groups specializing in the district-by-district analysis of congressional races. The 30 military-intelligence candidates account for more than one quarter of the Democratic candidates in these districts, making them the largest single group, ahead of state and local politicians (26), lawyers (20), millionaires (15), other professionals (8), former Obama aides (3) and miscellaneous (13).

Most of the organizations that investigate and rate congressional races are projecting that the Democrats will win more than the 23 seats required to take control of the House, and possibly as many as 50 or 60. In the latter scenario, CIA Democrats could make up as much as half of the new class of first-time representatives.

There is one particularly ominous aspect of the politics of this group of candidates. Despite their personal involvement in the wars of the past two decades, in Iraq and Afghanistan, and in the overall operation of the vast US national-security establishment, many of the CIA Democrats say nothing at all on their websites about foreign and military policy. This strongly suggests that they are backers of an aggressive expansion of US military intervention and political subversion around the world, but they choose to conceal that fact from the voters of their districts.

What follows is a complete list of the 30 military-intelligence Democrats who are on the ballot November 6, together with the details of their careers in the national security apparatus. The list includes new candidates not previously identified, and new information on all the candidates.

The candidates are listed by alphabetical order of their state. The facts and photographs are all taken from the candidates’ own websites. It is notable that they see long records with the national-security apparatus as their principal credentials for office, not as something to downplay. Equally notable, not one of these candidates draws any negative, let alone anti-war, conclusions from their own participation in wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen and other countries.

An insider's take on the Biden energy strategy

By Peter Skurkiss

Through many years of contacts and acquaintances, Walter Russell Mead has become a quintessential insider to the political establishment. As such, he's privy to the thinking of many people in Washington, including those in the Biden administration.

In a Wall Street Journal piece, Mead lays out the Joe Biden strategy on climate issues. And when I say "Biden," of course I don't mean Joe Biden the man. Unless otherwise specified, I use Biden as an alias for those who installed Biden the man in office and who direct his policies. The only decision Joe is probably allowed to make on his own is what flavor ice cream he's having each day…but for politically correct reasons, it had better not be vanilla.

With that out of the way, we can begin. The Chinese sage Sun Tzu taught that one key to success in war is to know your opposition. Taking that advice, strap on your seat belts and take a drive with me into Crazy Town to hear the Biden strategy on energy.

The nub of their thinking is that pushing the transition from fossil energy to renewables will strengthen the administration's hand both domestically and abroad. On the domestic side, Mead writes, "The Bidenites think the climate offers an opportunity to pry Democratic greens and harder-left progressives apart." This is necessary to give Biden a stronger hand in dealing with China. How so?

The "thinking" goes that the progressive left wants to diminish the military and redirect defense spending to leftish domestic social programs. This does not bode well for confronting China. The greens, on the other hand, are "more centrists in their foreign-policy approach and, if satisfied that the administration is actively pursuing a hard-hitting climate agenda, will with varying degrees of enthusiasm support such Biden goals such as a tougher policy towards China." So the thinking is that a green agenda will solidify the Democratic base and thereby give Biden the ability to deal more forcefully in foreign affairs.

But Mead points out that there are two flaws in the Biden strategy. First, it's grounded on the assumption that pursuing a climate agenda vigorously enough to satisfy enough greens can be done at a "modest and manageable cost." Unfortunately for this plan, it's facing worldwide energy shortages and skyrocketing fuel prices.

And then there's an even more fundamental contradiction in the strategy. Again Mead: "By artificially depressing fossil-fuel production and investment in the democratic world faster than renewables and other fuels can fill the gap, the Biden policy promotes a multi-year, multi-trillion-dollar windfall for countries like Russia, Iran, and Saudi Arabia." These are among the authoritarian regimes the president has made it his mission to oppose. Needless to say, China smiles when America deliberately shoots itself in the foot by curtailing its fossil energy production and exploration. And Biden's green agenda can only tighten Moscow's grip over Europe's energy needs.

Mead further laments that Biden's green strategy undoes what Mead calls the "greatest American achievement of the past decade." That was eliminating the Middle East as the world's swing energy producer and thus shifting economic leverage from the U.S. to authoritarian monopolies.

There are several things we can expect from Joe Biden in the near term. Already he has humiliated himself and the U.S. by unsuccessfully begging Saudi Arabia not to jack up oil prices too high. Then there will be the farce at the upcoming United Nations–sponsored "Conference of Parties" (COP26), set to begin, appropriately enough, on October 31 (Halloween) in Glasgow. Biden, the man, announced he'll "be there with bells on." To appease the greens at home and to earn a pat on the head from the bureaucrats in Europe, Biden can be expected to over-commit to reducing America's carbon emissions. He'll do this even though Chinese president Xi Jinping, leader of the world's greatest emitter of greenhouse gases, won't even bother attending COP26. Furthermore, news reports say China, Australia, India, and Russia are refusing to make any real promises to cut carbon emissions. Can that be a surprise?

I warned you we were going to Crazy Town. It is staggering to think such a cockamamie strategy was concocted by the supposed adults in the room who took over when President Trump left office. As long as Biden and his crew are in power, America will suffer on the energy front.
