Namefagging adds undue and undeserved weight to posts and opinions.

Anons may follow people who make correct assessments and predictions, but being right once does not make a person right forever.

Even if the intentions of the namefag are good, the lack of understanding makes them susceptible to powertripping, whether they are right or wrong.

This in turn makes their followers susceptible to lies and deceit that the namefag believes, multiplying vectors of disinformation.

Worst of all is when a namefag lies to protect themselves as a namefag and not a participant in the event; they grow accustomed to the recognition because it feels good, not because they are there to help.

Thus the divisions grow between namefags (and those who follow them) and those who think for themselves in dropping vanity.

We have seen this time and time again.
