Military Commissions Media Invitation Announced for United States v. Khalid Shaikh Mohammad et al. Pre-Trial Hearing

The Department of Defense and the Office of Military Commissions will allocate seats for news media aboard a military-chartered aircraft for travel from Joint Base Andrews (JBA) in Maryland to Naval Station Guantanamo Bay (NSGB) Cuba to cover military commission pre-trial proceedings scheduled for United States v. Khalid Shaikh Mohammad et al., Jan. 10 – 21, 2022.

 

Currently, the tentative flights will be available as follows:

 

Jan. 8 – Joint Base Andrews to Naval Station Guantanamo Bay

Jan. 22 – Naval Station Guantanamo Bay to Joint Base Andrews

In this pic from 38 years ago today, troops from the 82nd Airborne wait at Bragg to board aircraft to invade Grenada. Upon alert for Op Urgent Fury, there were no maps of Grenada on Bragg, so a division staff officer bought ~100 tourist maps from a store in downtown Fayetteville.
