Neil Bush, the founder and Chairman of the George H. W. Bush Foundation for U.S.-China Relations, co-hosted the online forum “50 Years of US-China Exchange in Retrospect: The Bush Legacy and Beyond” with the Center for China and Globalization (CCG).
The CCG is a key group within the Chinese Communist Party’s United Front Work Department (UFWD), a systematic foreign influence operation seeking “to co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of its ruling Chinese Communist Party” and influence Westerners to “take actions or adopt positions supportive of Beijing’s preferred policies,” according to the U.S. government.
Accordingly, Neil Bush downplayed the importance of the hunt for COVID-19’s origins – which many experts believe to be the Wuhan Institute of Virology – and dismissed the likely possibility that the virus escaped from the Chinese state-run lab.
“Who cares where it originated,” Bush asks before reiterating:
“Whether it originated in a lab or from a bat or from the United States or from wherever – who cares?”
“Throw away the crazy conspiracy theories and just assume there was an origin of some kind – doesn’t matter where it originated,” he later emphasizes.
Despite Neil Bush’s apathy towards unearthing the origins of COVID-19, he confidently debunks the theory that the virus was released intentionally.

Laos reports seizing huge amount of methamphetamine
Police in the Southeast Asian nation of Laos have made one of Asia’s biggest-ever drug busts, seizing more than 55.6 million methamphetamine pills in a single raid. The drugs were found in the northern province of Bokeo, the state-run Vientiane Times newspaper reported Thursday.
The drugs were found Wednesday in sacks in a house that police searched after earlier discovering 10 million tablets hidden in beer crates on a truck on its way to the capital, Vientiane, the newspaper said in an online report. Information from the truck driver led them to the house, where 65 bags of crystal methamphetamine, also known as ice, were also found, it said. Lao National Radio said they weighed a total of 1,537 kilograms (3,380 pounds).
Two men were said to be under arrest. The newspaper said the Lao Brewery Company, the owner of the crates, issued a statement denying involvement in drug smuggling. “We are deeply disappointed that our crates have been abused as a cover for illegal activities,” it quoted the statement as saying.
On Monday, police found 6 million amphetamine tablets hidden in a pickup truck driving through the province, the newspaper said. Bokeo borders Thailand and Myanmar and is part of the Golden Triangle, a remote geographical area with a long history of involvement with illegal drug production and smuggling.
In a report released in June 2021, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime said production and trafficking of synthetic drugs in East and Southeast Asia has surged despite the coronavirus pandemic. It said criminal syndicates adapted to and capitalized on the situation.
Laos is well known as a transit point for drugs from Myanmar, a major producer of methamphetamine, that go to Thailand, Vietnam and points beyond. Laos is a poor, sparsely inhabited landlocked country with a reputation for corruption that can facilitate smuggling. The non-governmental group Transparency International ranked it 137th out of 170 countries on its Corruption Perceptions Index, which ranks countries by their perceived levels of public sector corruption.

5 SEAL vets running for Congress go on live TV together to demand accountability for 400+ Americans left in Afghanistan
Five U.S. Navy SEAL veterans, who are all Republican Congressional candidates in the 2022 mid-term elections, joined together on live television this week to call for accountability for the U.S. citizens still left in Afghanistan two months after the U.S. military concluded its civilian evacuation efforts and left the country.
Former Navy SEALs Derrick Van Orden, Brady Duke, Eli Crane, Morgan Luttrell and Ryan Zinke all sat together for an interview with Fox News on Wednesday and responded to the Pentagon’s new report of 439 U.S. citizens still stuck in Afghanistan. The new Pentagon estimate of Americans left in Afghanistan comes two months after the U.S. military left the country and after members of President Joe Biden’s administration initially estimated there were only about 100 U.S. citizens still seeking a way out of the country after the military left.
“Fox & Friends” host Brian Kilmeade began the interview saying to Van Orden, “You knew when they were approximating 100, they weren’t being accurate and they weren’t being candid. Did you know it was this bad?”
“Yes, absolutely. I believe it’s worse,” Van Orden replied. “The Biden administration has a problem with competence and confidence in the American people. We do not believe the Biden administration. I still don’t.”
Van Orden then accused Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and President Biden himself of “intentionally” leaving “hundreds, if not thousands of American citizens and our allies to their fate with terrorists, and it’s completely unacceptable.”
Duke also questioned Biden’s characterization of the evacuation effort as “an extraordinary success.” Duke said, “To hear that from the mouth of the President, knowing good and well that there are Americans on the ground, is absolutely embarrassing to the country and is not something that you could even call American.”
Crane said a problem for the Biden administration is “nobody wants to take ownership or accountability for what’s going on in this country.” Crane said that assessment holds true not only for the Afghanistan withdrawal but for other issues affecting the U.S.
In a question for Luttrell, Kilmeade noted the onset of starvation concerns in Afghanistan and raised the question of whether Americans might be taken hostage and held for ransom in exchange for aid from the international community.
“You’re not wrong,” Luttrell said. “And that’s why the five of us are up here today. We are men of action. We’re up here to ask those hard questions and get the answers to what the American public want to hear and we’re bent on doing just that.”
Zinke, who previously served as the Secretary of the Interior under President Donald Trump, said his goal is to help the Republican party retake the majority in the House of Representatives. “It’s majority, White House, save America.”

White House proposes $80 billion increase to IRS budget
With a wealth tax on the rich off the table, Democrats are relying on a far less popular funding mechanism to fund their infrastructure bill: beefed-up IRS enforcement.
According to a proposal released Thursday by the White House, increasing the funding for the IRS by $80 billion would net $400 billion in revenue. That $80 billion would boost the IRS's budget by over 70 percent over the next 10 years when compared with the last decade and lead to a hiring spree of agents.
After a plan to tax the assets of billionaires collapsed Thursday due to bipartisan opposition, Democrats are left scrambling to find ways to raise enough revenue to pay for President Joe Biden's budget reconciliation package. But the move to boost IRS funding, congressional Republicans say, will put ordinary Americans under the tax agency's microscope and subject them to needless audits.
"The truly wealthy don't get a paycheck, so when we start talking about who we're going after, the answer is everybody," Rep. Mike Kelly (R., Pa.) told the Washington Free Beacon. "Every single American will be affected by this. Every single American. They're not looking for a few pennies."
To reach the $1.85 trillion in total cost, some of the biggest proposed tax hikes include a 15-percent global minimum tax, which the White House says will raise $350 billion. A 5-percent surtax on income above $10 million and an 8-percent surtax on income above $25 million, the White House says, will raise an additional $230 billion.
The White House's revenue estimation is dramatically larger than what the Congressional Budget Office concluded in September. According to the CBO report, $80 billion in new IRS funding would raise just $120 billion in net revenue over the next decade. At $400 billion, the White House's revenue estimation is substantially larger than the $316 billion the administration predicted before the release of the CBO report.

All White Men Nominated For Science Award, So Committee Refused To Pick Any Of Them
A group of scientists who were nominated for a prestigious award lacked diversity, so the review committee committed discrimination by refusing to advance anyone.
Scientific American reported that “five of the nation’s top ice scientists” were supposed to review peer-nominated candidates for the American Geophysical Union’s (AGU) fellows program, but after seeing that all the nominees were white and male, the committee decided not to move them forward.
One of the five members of the panel, Scripps Institution of Oceanography glaciologist Helen Fricker, said the revelation that the nominees were all white men “was kind of a bit of a showstopper for me.”
Fricker admitted to the outlet in an interview that she was placed on the review panel because she had previously complained about a lack of diversity.
“One of the reasons I was put on the committee was because I’d been quite vocal about the year that I’d been a fellow, I was very much in the minority, and we needed to do better and get more women,” she said.Fricker was named a fellow in 2017.
The process to nominate scientists for the prestigious fellowship was intense, according to Scientific American:
The selection process this past spring was an arduous, careful operation from beginning to end.
Candidates, typically middle- or senior-level scientists, are first nominated by peers. The nominees are divided into groups with 20 or 30 names, and then organized by scientific disciplines within AGU — atmospheric sciences, ocean sciences, planetary sciences and so on.
Committees representing each section review the pool of nominees, select a few final candidates and send them on to an upper-tier committee. This last group, the “union committee,” makes the final selections.
The process proceeds the same way each year and concludes, ostensibly, with the same outcome: a new batch of AGU’s best and brightest scientists.
Fricker and her colleagues — Jeff Dozier, Sinead Farrell, Bob Hawley, Don Perovich and Michele Koppes — represented the AGU’s cryosphere section, comprising scientists focused on the Earth’s snow and ice. The group was just one of about two dozen different committees, all reviewing their own lists of candidates.

LA will pay $1,000 'no-strings attached' monthly universal basic income to 3,000 families suffering hardship due to COVID in largest guaranteed income program in US
A COVID-19 relief program that will provide $1,000 monthly payments to thousands of families in one of Los Angeles' most poverty-stricken districts was approved by the city's council on Tuesday.
More than 3,000 families will receive assistance from BIG:LEAP, or Basic Income Guaranteed: Los Angeles Economic Assistance Pilot.
Mayor Eric Garcetti called it 'the largest guaranteed basic income program anywhere in the United States of America.'
Families below the poverty line in Council District can begin to submit their applications on Friday, October 29, and have until November 7 to do so.
Those chosen in the lottery will receive the payments all throughout 2022.
To be eligible, they must be 18 years or older, have at least one dependent child/are pregnant, live in low-income households, and have experienced economic or medical hardship due to COVID-19 are eligible.

‘Unconscionable’: Pfizer, Moderna to rake in combined $93 billion in 2022 COVID vaccine sales

Vaccine makers Pfizer and Moderna are projected to generate combined sales of $93.2 billion in 2022 nearly twice the amount they’re expected to rake in this year, said Airfinity, a health data analytics group.
Airfinity put total market sales for COVID vaccines in 2022 at $124 billion, according to the Financial Times.
Pfizer vaccine sales are predicted to reach $54.5 billion in 2022, and Moderna’s will hit $38.7 billion. The estimates blow the earlier figures — $23.6 billion for Pfizer and $20 billion for Moderna — out of the water.
“The numbers are unprecedented,” Rasmus Beck Hansen, CEO of Airfinity, told the Financial Times.
Sales of the mRNA shots will continue to rise in 2022 due to boosters and countries stockpiling to ward off variants, Airfinity said.
Pfizer will generate 64% of its sales, and Moderna 75% of its sales, from high-income countries in 2022, the analysts predicted.
In April, Pfizer predicted 2021 COVID vaccine sales of $26 billion. After second-quarter results were reported, Pfizer upped the figure to $33.5 billion. Bernstein analyst Ronny Gal said the company could ring up an additional $10 billion in vaccine sales in 2021.
Gal wrote:
“The numbers are going to be much higher. The guidance of $33.5B reflects contracts signed to today which reflect total commitment to sell 2.1 million doses (at average price of $15.95). Pfizer notes they expect to manufacture 3 million doses. Presumably much of those will be sold as well, albeit at lower average price as consumption shifts to emerging markets. This is probably another $10 billion.”
“The second quarter was remarkable in a number of ways,” Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said. “Most visibly, the speed and efficiency of our efforts with BioNTech to help vaccinate the world against COVID-19 have been unprecedented, with now more than a billion doses of BNT162b2 having been delivered globally.”
On a conference call, Bourla said that while “it’s very early to speak” about the company’s sales expectations for next year, he put Pfizer’s 2022 production capacity at 4 billion doses.

Victoria, Australia, to become a “vaccinated economy” with endless boosters – no unvaccinated allowed to function in society
Victorian Premier Dan Andrews has officially announced that in order to participate in Australia’s emerging “vaccinated economy,” all residents will need to take every government “booster” shot in order to be considered “fully vaccinated.”
Speaking to reporters, Andrews rambled about how “it will be in everybody’s interests, all of us, for the health and safety, for the health system, and of course to continue participating in the vaccinated economy – you will need to have a booster shot.”
As you may recall, Andrews was caught back in the summer making up ridiculous lies about how the Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) had supposedly been found in sewage poop. Andrews used this fake claim as an excuse to extend the region’s stay-at-home order for “flattening the curve.”
Now, Andrews is attempting to impose a system of medical apartheid in Australia where the only people allowed to participate in the economy are those who take every injection forced on them by the government, including all boosters.
“The vaccinated economy will operate across the board,” Andrews decreed. “Two doses, or you’re not getting in [to the state]. Two doses, or you’re not going to work. This is absolutely critical.
As for third, fourth and etcetera doses, Andrews says that these, too, are “just as important as the first and second” and will be treated as such for purposes of participation in the vaccinated economy.
“All those requirements, all those settings where you only get in if you are double-vaxxed –?and you can tap and verify that for everybody – that vaccinated economy is here to stay,” Andrews went on to state.
World Health Organization says booster shots are not backed by science
Andrews apparently believes he knows better than the World Health Organization (WHO), which has patently denied the need for any further booster shots of Chinese Virus “vaccine.”
WHO chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan gave a media briefing back in August during which she declared that the data “is not conclusive” and that the agency cannot make a recommendation in favor of boosters due to a lack of science.
“We also don’t know about the safety of boosters,” she added, “because when we talk about vaccines, it’s not just the efficacy. [W]hat happens … when you give a third dose of an mRNA vaccine or any other kind of vaccine?”
Andrews should listen to Swaminathan because unlike himself, she seems to know a whole lot more about what she is talking about. Andrews should also pay close attention to the waves of “breakthrough” cases of the Wuhan Flu that are sweeping across countries that are mostly fully vaccinated.
Antibody-Dependent Enhancement (ADE) is becoming a real problem among the jabbed who are now flooding hospitals with vaccine-induced illnesses that are often wrongly blamed on the unvaccinated.
