Terry McAuliffe Hires Controversial Ex-Clinton Lawyer Marc Elias
As a long-standing associate of the Clintons, Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe has long ties with the Democratic establishment. That history was placed into sharp relief this week when he made a hefty downpayment on the services of former Clinton counsel Marc Elias.
Elias is a critical figure in the ongoing Durham investigation and has been accused of lying to the media to hide the role of the Clinton campaign in funding the Steele dossier.
His former law partner Michael Sussmann at Perkins Coie was recently indicted by Durham.
Elias has also led efforts to challenge Democratic losses, even as he denounces Republicans for such election challenges.
Elias has been sanctioned in past litigation.
Like Sussmann, Elias has left Perkins Coie. He ironically created a law firm specializing in campaign ethics.
McAuliffe may be preparing to challenge any win by Republican Glenn Youngkin. He has given $53,680 to the Elias Law Group. McAuliffe does not appear disturbed by Elias’ highly controversial career or his possible exposure in the Durham investigation.

Throughout the campaign, the Clinton campaign denied any involvement in the creation of the so-called Steele dossier’s allegations of Trump-Russia connections. However, weeks after the election, journalists discovered that the Clinton campaign hid payments for the dossier made to a research firm, Fusion GPS, as “legal fees” among the $5.6 million paid to the campaign’s law firm. New York Times reporter Ken Vogel said at the time that Clinton lawyer Marc Elias, with the law firm of Perkins Coie, denied involvement in the anti-Trump dossier. When Vogel tried to report the story, he said, Elias “pushed back vigorously, saying ‘You (or your sources) are wrong.’” Times reporter Maggie Haberman declared, “Folks involved in funding this lied about it, and with sanctimony, for a year.”
It was not just reporters who asked the Clinton campaign about its role in the Steele dossier. John Podesta, Clinton’s campaign chairman, was questioned by Congress and denied categorically any contractual agreement with Fusion GPS. Sitting beside him was Elias, who reportedly said nothing to correct the misleading information given to Congress.

Parliamentary democracy would be ‘gone’ under Andrews’ new pandemic laws
The Andrews government’s new pandemic legislation would mean parliamentary democracy in Victoria is “gone,” according to Sky News host Alan Jones.
The proposed laws would limit the power of the chief health officer and give the Premier the authority to declare a pandemic and the Health Minister the power to make public orders.
Mr Jones said anyone caught “violating the Premier’s will” could face up to two years in jail or a fine of up to $90,000 under the bill.
“A company, $425,000, Andrews would decide,” he said.
“Daniel Andrews can fairly be called a megalomaniac.”

How private Telegram channel 'IM Packs' created a black market for Ivermectin in Australia
As much of eastern Australia was settling in for another Friday night in lockdown earlier this month, an unlikely prescription drug importation ring popped up in a dark corner of the internet.

"Hi all!," wrote Gabz, a user on Telegram – the encrypted messaging app that has become a haunt for anti-lockdown protesters and COVID-19 vaccination sceptics during the pandemic.
It was 6:10pm on October 1, and Gabz had just created a Telegram channel called "IM Packs" for people in Sydney interested in sourcing the unproven coronavirus treatments Ivermectin and Doxycycline.
"Please take note this is a private group and not to be shared with anyone," Gabz wrote.
"If you'd like to order a pack for someone please do so by letting me know how many packs you'd like."
Gabz was offering to import bulk shipments of Ivermectin and Doxycycline from India, and then on-sell doses to other users.
"Each pack is around $25 (will confirm price shortly) and contains a 10-day treatment, instruction guide with Ivermectin and Doxycycline."

1/6 Defense Attorney To Subpoena FBI Over Ray Epps, Instigators Caught On Video
January 6 defense attorney Jonathan Moseley wants answers from the FBI about Ray Epps and Sean McHugh
Jonathan Moseley, defense attorney for Philadelphia Proud Boys chapter president Zach Rehl, expressed determination to confront the FBI with a subpoena in response to National File’s report that a second man – Sean Michael McHugh – was caught on camera trying to incite demonstrators to storm the Capitol Building.
That report followed a comprehensive article by Revolver News breaking down considerable evidence that Ray Epps was acting as an FBI informant when he repeatedly urged Pro-Trump rally-goers to enter the Capitol.
Neither McHugh nor Epps have been charged with conspiracy. Moseley’s client Zach Rehl, however, is set to stand trial on conspiracy charges, despite the fact that federal prosecutors do not allege that Rehl stormed the Capitol, committed violence or destroyed property.
Moseley explained that the federal government also has not provided any evidence any evidence that Rehl ever encouraged others to behave violently on January 6. The government’s case against Rehl even acknowledges that he was only ever “armed” with a walkie-talkie.
“I plan to start with a subpoena to get all information about these incidents,” Moseley told National File. “I believe that the government knew that their allegations against my client were false, because they knew who actually was responsible for inciting an attack on the Capitol,” Moseley charged.
Moseley also elaborated on why Epps’ monologues were so suspicious. “[Epps] talks about nothing but crossing the line to committing a crime,” said Moseley. “The only thing he is focused on is getting people to go to the Capitol and enter the building. He shows no interest in why or any message to be sent. He is only focused on getting people to break the law.”
Moseley explained that, in the various videos of Ray Epps, “he plants the idea of getting arrested, to encourage the crowd to break the law.” Moseley told National File that “It certainly looks to me that these provocateurs were working for or acting for the government in some capacity.”
Federal prosecutors have indicted many of the hundreds of 1/6 defendants including Rehl – the vast majority of whom were not even accused of perpetrating violence – on a new and creative interpretation of Title 18 U.S. Code § 1512(c). The statute prescribes a maximum sentence of 20 years for anyone who “corruptly” “otherwise obstructs, influences or impedes any official proceeding, or attempts to do so”.
Authorities have conceded that the law was originally written to combat crimes like destruction of evidence in actual court cases in the wake of the Supreme Court’s 2005 exoneration of Arthur Anderson LLP, but insist that anyone whose otherwise-lawful political demonstration inconveniences a Congressional proceeding for a motive the Justice Department deems “corrupt” can be convicted of a federal felony and imprisoned for two decades.
D.C. Courts have yet to issue decisive rulings on the question of whether this charge is appropriate for anyone charged in connection with 1/6.
Moseley views these recent revelations with optimism, hoping it will further encourage fellow 1/6 defense attorneys to share exculpatory information and stand strong against any attempt to intimidate their clients into issuing false confessions out of desperation.
“Attorneys defending those arrested from the January 6 demonstrations are increasingly talking to each other,” Moseley told National File. “At least half a dozen attorneys are very concerned about videos of the 2 or 3 provocateurs filmed on January 5 and 6 inciting the crowds to ‘storm’ and enter the U.S. Capitol.”

NYPD preparing for potential crush of retirements ahead of vaccine mandate
The NYPD is bracing for a potential mass exodus over the city’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate — issuing numerous guidance Thursday for cops who would rather quit than get the jab.
Police officials have reserved the auditorium at 1 Police Plaza Friday for the NYC Police Pension Fund to process retirement paperwork for cops with at least 20 years on the job, according to a pair administrative bulletins sent out to the workforce Thursday.
The retiring officers will be split into two arrival windows based on last name, the memo adds.
Those without 20 years on the job who wish to resign are being told to arrive at the auditorium at police headquarters on Saturday in four separate groups, again organized by last name, read a third memo sent out Thursday.
“This is to assist members who wish to retire due to the vaccination mandates,” the memo reads.
One police source railed against the haphazard communications with cops about the retirement scramble — just four days before the vaccine requirement will be enforced.
“This it’s just comical now,” the source said of the trio of memos issued just hours apart. “This is all a mess.”
As of Thursday, 25 percent of the NYPD’s workforce remained unvaccinated and face being placed on unpaid leave starting Monday if they do not get the jab in the coming days.
Hundreds of cops have been lining up to get the vaccine this week and police brass hope more get the jab over the weekend — but it was unclear how many cops will choose to hand in their gun and badge instead.
It was also not known how many department employees have applied for an exemption from the vaccine, which would allow them to continue working with pay while the application is pending. Those members would be subject to weekly testing and stricter masking guidelines.
The NYPD did not respond to a request seeking the tally of those cops, whose applications were due Wednesday.
“Since the mandate was announced, the NYPD vaccination rate has increased by approximately seven percent, with over 700 vaccinations today alone,” a City Hall spokesperson said. “We’re confident their rates will continue to climb as more members get vaccinated to protect themselves and their communities from COVID-19.”

Victoria Police officers charged with string of offences including perjury
A Victorian police officer has been charged with dozens of serious offences including perjury and taking detrimental action against a witness.
The 49-year-old sergeant was one of two officers charged in an investigation dealing with alleged offences while on duty dating from 2018 until this year, Victoria Police revealed overnight.
The western region officer is facing 84 charges in total, including misconduct in public office, conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, attempting to pervert the course of justice and creating a false document.
A detective sergeant from a specialist command, 51, was charged with four offences: conspiracy to access police information, conspiracy to commit misconduct in public office, attempting to access police information, and attempting to commit misconduct in public office.
Both men have been granted bail to appear in a magistrates' court at a later date, which Victoria Police has not revealed.

Pence says Iranian president must be ousted and charged with crimes against humanity
Pence made his remarks at a conference organized by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).
The recently installed hard-line ruler in Tehran should be unseated and put charged with overseeing the 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran, former Vice President Mike Pence said at a Washington, D.C. conference.
"Ebrahim Raisi must be removed from office by the people of Iran, and he must be prosecuted for crimes against humanity and genocide," Pence said.
Pence made his comments Thursday while addressing an event organized by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), whose members want to oust the Tehran regime and its president, Raisi.
Raisi presided over a death squad that massacred 30,000 political prisoners, Pence said, noting that he believes Raisi was placed in power in August in order to intimidate Iranian dissidents.
"His selection as president is clearly intended to quash internal dissent and intimidate the people of Iran into remaining silent," Pence said. But, he added, it also "is a sign of the regime's growing desperation and vulnerability."
Pence described to the audience his legislative history of supporting a free Iran, and noted that the Trump-Pence administration "did not turn a deaf ear to the pleas of the Iranian people." That administration "did not remain silent in the face of the regime's countless atrocities," he said.
The Trump administration canceled the Iran nuclear deal, which gave the Tehran regime billions of dollars "that it used to repress its own people and support deadly terrorist attacks across the region," Pence said.
The conference denounced Iran's "nuclear defiance, terrorism," and "regional meddling," and drew other high profile American supporters, including former Democrat Sen. Joe Lieberman.
The meeting included a video appearance from Maryam Rajavi, the NCRI's president-elect.

Biden Takes Early Victory Lap On Build Back Better Agenda, Despite No Guarantee That All Democratic Lawmakers Are On Board
President Joe Biden took a preemptive victory lap Thursday on his $1.75 trillion Build Back Better framework, declaring it to be essentially a done deal despite suggestions that Democrats remain divided over his agenda.
Biden pushed back his Europe trip by a few hours Thursday and headed over to Capitol Hill in a seemingly last-ditch attempt to get his party to back the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and his social spending-focused Build Back Better package. White House officials appeared confident that Democrats would back Biden’s heavily-scaled back $1.75 trillion Build Back Better package – down from the original $3.5 trillion proposal – and Biden echoed this confidence during remarks to the nation after his meeting. His comments, however, came amid news from the Capitol suggesting the president may not have a win just yet.
“Today, I’m pleased to announce that after months of tough and thoughtful negotiations, I think – I know we have a historic economic framework,” Biden declared.
“I want to thank my colleagues in the Congress for their leadership. We spent hours and hours and hours over months and months working on this. No one got everything they wanted, including me, but that’s what compromise is. That’s consensus, and that’s what I ran on,” the president continued.
Biden’s public remarks represent the biggest public push for getting his agenda passed to date. Getting an official deal before Biden left for Europe on Thursday afternoon was important to the White House, with the president himself noting recently that doing so would be “very, very positive.”
With his agenda still in limbo, Biden declared that his proposal is “about leading the world or letting the world pass us by,” and his remarks signified not only a victory lap but also renewed pressure on his party to unite.
While Biden laid out the specifics of his $1.75 trillion proposal and told reporters that “everybody’s on board,” those at the Capitol told a different story. Some lawmakers had concerns over the timeline of passing both bills while others, like Independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, said the social spending bill “needs to be improved.”

Virginia Democrats Claim ‘Free And Fair’ Election While Rigging It Again
Democrats sure want you to believe the electoral changes they enacted for 2021 in Virginia somehow add up to ‘free and fair.’ The reality is the opposite.
A lot of roadside signs for Virginia’s Democrat gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe include a special message: “Vote in Free and Fair Elections beginning September 17.”
Odd. Shouldn’t “free and fair” go without saying? Why include it on a campaign sign?
This is especially odd since the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors recently asked Virginia’s current governor, Democrat Ralph Northam, to waive the legally required witness signature for absentee ballots, as well as the last four digits of the voter’s Social Security number, both statutory requirements. They asked this about a month after voting began.
For me, the gratuitous addition looks like an attempt to cover up the left’s belief that fair elections are below its paygrade. McAuliffe’s operatives can’t possibly believe it, especially as they work to change and ignore rules in the middle of the game. But they sure want you to believe the electoral changes they enacted for 2021 in Virginia—including expansions of mail-in balloting, conditions for ballot harvesting, no requirement for photo ID, etc.—somehow add up to “free and fair.”
On top of that, the huge ballot drop box in front of Fairfax County is supposed to have 24/7 surveillance, but Director of the Fairfax County Office of Elections Scott Konopasek says the camera feed will never be available to the public.
As Mollie Hemingway’s investigative work in her recent bestseller “Rigged” shows, the 2020 elections added a lot of moving parts to the machinery of election rigging. In addition to inviting fraud, there are now more ways to disguise irregularities and to render election results unverifiable.
Such chaos-by-design has been in the works for many years. It reached a tipping point when the oligarchical triad of Big Tech, Big Gov, and Big Media used the Wuhan virus shutdowns to vastly expand mail-in voting while relaxing controls on it during the 2020 presidential election.
Obviously, their first order of business was to prevent President Trump from winning re-election. I imagine the second order of business is to entrench these processes for other elections so that a permanent one-party state can cross all state lines.
At the moment, there seems to be just enough pretense—such as the continued existence of in-person polling places and polling officials who request some form of identification—to create an illusion of propriety. The idea is to keep actual voters clutching their ballots with the same persistent trust as Charlie Brown holding onto Lucy’s football every time she offers him a “free and fair” chance to kick it.
McAuliffe, a heavily seasoned Democratic National Committee (DNC) operative, is joined at the hip to all that machinery. Yet Democrats in Virginia are acting as though they’re “nervous” that McAuliffe might lose.

Four U.S. Intelligence Agencies Produced Extensive Reports on Afghanistan, but All Failed to Predict Kabul’s Rapid Collapse
Summaries of intelligence reports show how agencies diverged over the strength of the Afghan government and military
Leading U.S. intelligence agencies failed to predict the rapid Taliban takeover of Afghanistan prior to the final withdrawal of American troops and instead offered scattershot assessments of the staying power of the Afghan military and government, a review of wide-ranging summaries of classified material by The Wall Street Journal shows.
The nearly two dozen intelligence assessments from four different agencies haven’t been previously reported. The assessments charted Taliban advances from spring 2020 through this July, forecasting that the group would continue to gain ground and that the U.S.-backed government in Kabul was unlikely to survive absent U.S. support.
The analyses, however, differed over how long the Afghan government and military could hold on, the summaries show, with none foreseeing the group’s lightning sweep into the Afghan capital by Aug. 15 while U.S. forces remained on the ground.
A month after President Biden announced his decision to withdraw all U.S. troops, for instance, the Central Intelligence Agency issued a May 17 report titled “Government at Risk of Collapse Following U.S. Withdrawal.” The report estimated that the government of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani would fall by year’s end, according to a summary.
Less than a month later, the agency issued another analysis titled: “Afghanistan: Assessing Prospects for a Complete Taliban Takeover Within Two Years,” according to a summary.

Thunderstorms and heavy winds have left more than half a million homes without power across Victoria and South Australia with the wild weather moving to NSW.
The Victoria State Emergency Service received more than 1,500 calls for help in the 24 hours to 8.30am on Friday, with the most affected areas including Ballarat, Bendigo and Melbourne's eastern suburbs.
There were 1,100 reports of trees down and 216 reports of building damage, and those numbers are expected to rise as Victorians report more damage.
More than 500,000 households are without power.
The wild weather has also caused power outages for more than 30,000 homes and businesses in South Australia after heavy hail and winds battered the state on Thursday.
The storm is expected to move into parts of NSW and combine with a heat wave with the state set to hit 35C.
One caller told ABC Radio Melbourne she had never seen anything like the storms that hit Red Hill on the Mornington Peninsula.
'I've never seen so many trees down, trees ripped out of the ground, there's just mess absolutely everywhere,' she said.
An Ausnet official said they have 128,000 customers without power, and with the storm still moving through it is unsafe for crews to start restoration work in Victoria.
Powercor and Citipower have 183,000 customers out, with Bendigo, Ballarat, Geelong and Terang badly hit.

Migrant Caravan Marches to U.S. on Mexican Highway
An estimated 3,000 to 5,000 mostly Central American and Haitian migrants continue their trek through southern Mexico to reach the United States. The video shows a portion of the caravan filmed on Monday. The video, provided by a source within CBP, was captured by Mexican authorities who are monitoring the group.
The video shows migrants pushing baby strollers and carrying personal belongings as they fill several lanes of a public highway. According to the source, the group is still attempting to push through the southern state of Chiapas. The source says the group has avoided at least one attempt by the National Institute of Migration (INM) and other Mexican authorities to deter them from continuing north.
The source says the group does not currently pose a threat due to the slow pace and the likelihood that the group will eventually be reduced in size through official intervention efforts. Nonetheless, the source says CBP continues to monitor the progress of the caravan.
