Huma Abedin contemplated suicide amid Anthony Weiner sexting scandal

Huma Abedin suggested she contemplated suicide as her estranged husband Anthony Weiner’s sexting scandal exploded into the national spotlight, she revealed in a new interview.

The long-suffering former top aide to Hillary Clinton opened up in her first-ever TV appearance about the emotional and mental toll Weiner’s sicko behavior had on her.

“You write that, for a brief second, you contemplated walking off the subway platform?” “CBS Evening News” anchor Norah O’Donnell asks Abedin, whose memoir is set to hit shelves on Tuesday.

“Well, one of the best things I’ve had in my life is my faith, and the belief that there is always a way through,” Abedin, 45, replied.

At the end of the interview, O’Donnell asked Abedin — who shares 9-year-old son Jordan with Weiner — whether she’s still “angry” with the disgraced congressman.

“I can’t live in that space anymore,” she said. “I tried that. It almost killed me.”

Asked to characterize her relationship now with Weiner, as they continue to finalize their divorce, Abedin replied, “We are good.”

“He is my co-parent, and I learned the full truth, I processed it and moved on,” she continued. “I wish him well. He, I hope, wishes me well. I think he does.”

Abedin discloses for the first time in her new book that Weiner’s infidelity went beyond the X-rated texts he sent and received from various women, the interview reveals.

“I know it’s hard for you to say it, but you found that he was having physical relationships in your apartment?” O’Donnell asked, prompting Abedin to respond with a simple, “Yes.”

She added, “It was that moment that I realized the way I had been handling my response to him was not working.”

Biden: US Will Retaliate Against Iran's Hostile Actions, Including Drone Attacks

Earlier this week, the US Treasury stated that fresh sanctions had been imposed against Iran's unmanned aerial vehicle program and its chief executive.

US President Joe Biden said on Sunday that the US would respond to Iran's hostile actions, including drone attacks.

Speaking at the press conference on the results of the G20 in Rome, Biden stressed that the US reserves the right to respond to any "actions" Iran may undertake.

"With regard to the issue on how we are going to respond on actions taken by them against the interests of the US whether there are drone strikes or anything else, is that we are going to continue to respond," Biden told reporters.

The statement comes after a drone attack was carried out against the at-Tanf military base in Syria last week, for which no country or group have taken responsibility.

US media previously claimed, citing anonymous military officials, that Iran allegedly funded, facilitated, and encouraged the recent drone strike on the at-Tanf facility, where American troops are stationed (though Damascus has repeatedly condemned US illegal military presence in the country).

State Media setting this guy up as the patsy

Daryl Maguire urged Gladys Berejiklian to get a private phone, ICAC inquiry told

Former NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian has told the corruption watchdog she believed her secret MP boyfriend's requests for her to use a private phone or encrypted apps reflected a concern for privacy.

Key points:

Gladys Berejiklian repeatedly insisted she trusted Daryl Maguire when he told her he'd done nothing wrong

Mr Maguire made a mysterious statement about having "more info and data than them"

Ms Berejiklian is giving evidence for a second day after fronting the inquiry on Friday

The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) is investigating whether Ms Berejiklian breached public trust over a potential conflict of interest during her secret relationship with former Wagga Wagga MP Daryl Maguire.

The watchdog is considering whether she turned a blind eye to alleged corrupt conduct despite an obligation to report suspicions.

The commission has heard Mr Maguire told Ms Berejiklian he received a summons to appear before a separate ICAC inquiry in July 2018 in advance of his appearance.

Between the time he informed her of the summons and his appearance before the commission, Mr Maguire sent Ms Berejiklian a link to the app WeChat.

"You need to get a private phone," he added in intercepted text messages.

She asked if everything was OK and Mr Maguire made a mysterious statement about having "more info and data than them".

"I wouldn't have taken it as any more than privacy issues," Ms Berejiklian said of his requests.

Ms Berejiklian repeatedly insisted she trusted Mr Maguire when he told her he'd done nothing wrong and said she "certainly" knew she'd done nothing wrong herself.

Mr Maguire also wrote: "They can read texts but not the little green man, it leaves no trace."

Asked whether the "green man" may have been a reference to the green WeChat icon, Ms Berejiklian said she was unsure and never used the app.

During the 52-minute phone call in which he told her of the summons, Mr Maguire also referenced property developers and making introductions.

Ms Berejiklian insisted she had no knowledge of his dealings.

"That's what I was told, doesn't mean that I absorbed, cared or assumed or knew anything else," she said.

On Friday, Ms Berejiklian steadfastly denied wrongdoing and said if she had her time again, she would not declare the relationship because she was not certain of Mr Maguire's commitment.

She also insisted Mr Maguire never received preferential treatment and that he advocated in "exactly the same way" as other colleagues.
