>the Carrington Event went up to 15 or even 42 on the X scale

the carrington event had ZERO effect on biological organisms, other than visible aurorae at the equator.

the ONLY consequence that directly affected humans was a few telegraph wires melted, and a few telegraph stations were set on fire.

the effects on the technological nightmare upon which we have become utterly dependent will be more severe.

but the sci-fi scenarios you describe have an infinitesimal probability of occurring in our lifetimes.

yellowstone poses a MUCH greater threat, as does a major impactor.

the intended function of "sunscreen" lotions is to CAUSE skin cancers, not prevent them. they are sold by the medical/pharmaceutical complex which PROFITS when you get skin cancer. sunscreens contain a chemical compound which has an extended pi-system of conjugated double bonds. this extended pi-system has an unpopulated anti-bonding (pi) molecular orbital that is at just the right energy level that a photon of UV can be absorbed by an electron in the pi-system and be promoted to the higher energy pi MO. so the UV gets absorbed, alright, but it produces an extremely reactive free-radical, in fact, a di-radical. this excited molecule is FAR more carcinogenic than the UV itself. anyone with an education in chemistry OUGHT to realize that immediately. unfortunately, "modern" education is focused on the mindless repetition and regurgitation of random factoids, rather than critical thinking problem solving skills that lead to putting random factoids together to draw a valid conclusion. and TV has brainwashed everyone into blindly trusting the obscenely rich corporate oligarchs who profit from their naivete, so the connection between the sunscreen peddlers and the trillion dollar cancer industry likewise goes unnoticed.
