20 years ago, I only put my kid in public grade school because her teacher was in my Sunday school class and it was a small community. The moment we moved away, kid anon went to private school. If we couldn't have afforded it, then it would have been home school.

It seems a similar structure could be followed today. Neighborhood parents get together and collect salary contributions. They hire a teacher everyone approves of, and all that is needed is a building willing to give them space to meet. Call it a home-school neighborhood learning center or some shit.

Conceptually it is a lot like having UPS deliver the mail instead fo the US mail. Any government run service just sucks balls. Parents and local communities have the most at stake their children and therefore ought to be running the show.

One Room Schoolhouse Edition
We put ours in the school run by the church where we attended. Yeah it was small, yeah the tuition hurt, and yeah I hated paying local taxes knowing they were funding schools that my kid didn't use.
Where there is a will there is a way. And government funding RUINS EVERYTHING. Health care, education, Amtrak, farming, energy, …. literally everything. It even fucked up NASA. Complete and utter fuckery, everything they touch.
