Emboldened by the power vacuum created by Prime Minister Scott Morrison's lack of leadership, state premiers continue to use the fear of COVID-19 to lock in unprecedented, dictator-like powers.
The latest example of this worrying trend is Dan Andrews' Orwellian name " Public Health and Wellbeing Amendment (Pandemic Management) Bill 2021"
From the Australian Financial Review, "Powerful emergency pandemic laws are set to pass the Victorian Parliament, despite trenchant criticism the laws are a dangerous overreach and will concentrate power with Premier Daniel Andrews."
"The Public Health and Wellbeing Amendment (Pandemic Management) Bill 2021 would give the premier authority to declare a pandemic and the health minister, rather than chief health officer, the role of making health orders."
"Those found guilty of 'intentionally and recklessly' breaching public health orders face two years in jail or a $90,000 fine, under the proposed laws."
As I have said before, State premiers are walking all over the Prime Minister and his so-called national plan, locking down communities refusing to commit to the open borders that are the constitutional right of every Australian citizen and seizing more and more power.
Scott Morrison is impotent in preventing it because he’s too gutless to challenge these state premiers and their authoritarian overreach through legislation or in the high court.
Clearly, the Morrison Government has failed its duty to protect the rights and freedoms of Australians.
