"Rabbi From Hell" Implicates Himself in Unsolved Gruesome Cult Murders
One of Israel's most infamous cult leaders, who's slipped through law enforcement hands and had jail sentences reduced, has implicated himself in gory murders dating back to 1986 - a judge in Jerusalem has said.
Eliezer Berland, who is a convicted sex offender and serving an 18-month fraud sentence, was re-arrested in prison this week. Police have linked Berland, 83, to the kidnapping and murder of an ultra-orthodox teenager who disappeared in 1986 - and the unsolved killing of 41-year-old Avi Edri in 1990.
A number of arrests have reportedly been made among Shuvu Banim (Berland's cult), which terrorized neighborhoods 30 years ago, after a rabbi and witness picked out the hellish leader. Berland reportedly admitted to his involvement in the dismembering and burial of the boy in a forest almost 40 years ago.
