Just thinking out loud but you need a firing pin to fire blanks. As I understand it, firing blanks is a legit way to get the realism they want on film. You get the smoke, the kick, etc. I'm a sure a prop gun without a firing pin has its uses, but us speculating which is preferred is probably pointless.
IMO from a safety standpoint the 'armorer' would want to make sure there were NO live rounds on the set ANYWHERE. So where did they come from….

About a month ago a similar statistical study was published from a less well known source. It was citing adults, with a similar number like 112 deaths by vax for every 1 life saved. It has to do with the reported deaths vs. the natural survivability.
