It appears Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews will “stop at nothing to cozy up” to the CCP, according to Sky News host Peta Credlin.

Six months after the federal government tore up Victoria’s Belt and Road deal with Beijing, the Andrews government is using taxpayer funds to purchase a stall at the China International Import Expo.

Ms Credlin discussed the issue with Sky News host Rowan Dean, who said this is “unbelievable”.

Smartmatic Adds to Mountain of Litigation Against Right-Wing Cable News Networks, Sues One America News and Newsmax for Defamation

Two more shoes have dropped in voting machine giant Smartmatic’s legal offensive against television broadcasters and talking heads of the political right. Smartmatic sued One America News and Newsmax for defamation on Wednesday, more than half a year after filing a multi-billion dollar civil action against Fox News, Rudy Giuliani, Maria Bartiromo, Lou Dobbs, Jeanine Pirro and Sidney Powell.

“The first time it happened could be a mistake,” the 197-page federal complaint begins. “The second, third, fourth and fiftieth times it happened were intentional choices. OANN had every opportunity to do the right thing after the 2020 election for President and Vice President of the United States. It could have reported the truth. Instead, OANN chose to do the wrong thing every time. It reported a lie.”

“It Will Cross Legal and Ethical Lines to Climb the Ladder”

Smartmatic filed the lawsuit against OANN in the District of D.C., and the company separately sued Newsmax in Delaware Superior Court, framing the network’s conduct as a quest to lure Fox viewers.

“It is not easy to climb the ladder and get to the top,” the complaint against Newsmax begins. “It is even harder to climb if one is following the rules when others are not. Newsmax has long wanted to ascend the viewership ladder. It has now shown that it will cross legal and ethical lines to climb the ladder and push off the one at the top”

The company’s attorney J. Erik Connolly separately skewered the right-wing networks in a statement.

“Despite claims to provide viewers with honest, unbiased reporting, these outlets victimized Smartmatic by spreading false information about the company following last year’s election, all in their efforts to increase viewership and revenue,” Connolly wrote.

The lawsuit, captioned as Smartmatic USA Corp. v. Herring Networks, Inc. (OAN’s corporate name) and currently docketed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, does not cite a figure for compensatory or punitive damages sought.

Judging from prior lawsuits, however, and the company’s calculations in its complaint, that number can be enormous.

Frankfurt (AFP) – The World Health Organization expressed “grave concern” Thursday over the rising pace of coronavirus infections in Europe, as Germany registered its biggest daily increase since the start of the pandemic.

“We are, once again, at the epicentre,” WHO Europe director Hans Kluge told a press conference.

He warned that according to “one reliable projection” the current trajectory would mean “another half a million Covid-19 deaths” by February.

Alarm bells were ringing especially in Germany, the European Union’s most populous country, where the number of new cases over the past 24 hours soared to almost 34,000 on Thursday — an all-time high, according to the Robert Koch Institute health agency.

Meanwhile Britain on Thursday became the first country in the world to approve the use of Merck’s anti-Covid pill to treat patients suffering from mild to moderate coronavirus infections.

Health minister Sajid Javid called the molnupiravir antiviral “a game-changer for the most vulnerable and the immunosuppressed”.

Chicago Closing Public Schools November 12 for ‘Vaccination Awareness Day’

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) announced it will be canceling school on November 12 for “Vaccination Awareness Day,” so children five and older have the chance to receive their coronavirus vaccinations.

In a Thursday night email, Chief Executive Officer of CPS Pedro Martinez stated the day off will be an “opportunity for parents and guardians to take their children five years of age and older to get vaccinated at their pediatrician’s office, at a healthcare provider, or at a CPS school-based site or community vaccination event,” according to Chalkbeat.

Martinez said the day off is to ensure that all eligible students will have the chance to receive the immunization as quickly as possible, CBS 2 reports. CPS students will also be off the day before, Thursday, November 11, in observance of Veteran’s Day.

The announcement comes days after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky greenlit the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children ages five to eleven on November 2, as reported by the Associated Press.

According to CBS 2, the day off will be called “Vaccination Awareness Day.”

The Chicago Teachers Union tweeted its support of the move.

“CPS plans to close all schools on Nov. 12, giving parents and guardians an opportunity to get their children vaccinated,” the tweet reads. “We welcome the district acknowledging the urgent need for parents and families to vaccinate their children, and providing time and opportunity to do so.”

On November 3, Walgreens announced that it will begin vaccinating children aged five to eleven in thousands of its stores nationwide starting on November 6. CVS announced it will start vaccinating the age group beginning on November 7.

The district has 340,000 students, according to CBS 2.

CBS 2 reports that some working parents are displeased with the short notice of the last-minute day off.

On Thursday, San Francisco Public Health Officer Dr. Susan Philip said that children ages five to eleven will soon be required to show proof of vaccination when entering indoor businesses and other indoor settings, Breitbart News reported, citing KRON.

Philip spoke about plans for proof of vaccination for children ages five to eleven in a virtual town hall on November 2.

“People have asked me, what about the local San Francisco health orders that require vaccination to go into a restaurant or to go to a Warriors game,” Philip said during the meeting, as reported by KRON. “When is that going to apply to children five to eleven? We definitely want to wait and make sure children have an opportunity to get vaccinated so that will happen no sooner than about eight weeks after the vaccine is available to kids.”

“So there will be a limited time in which there will not be those requirements as planned, but at some point, five- to eleven-year-olds will also have to show proof of vaccination to access some of those same settings,” she added, per KRON.

DR. SCOTT GOTTLIEB: There weren’t comparative trials down. Bottom line is we have an overwhelming tool box right now to combat COVID. This is a phenomenal result. It exceeded any reasonable expectation… I think the bottom line is the end of the pandemic‚ at least as it relates to the United States, is in sight right now — given that we have the tools to combat this disease. Now, we still have to get through this Delta wave. Unfortunately, we’re not going to be able to vaccinate our way out of it. These therapeutics are coming too late to affect that wave of infection. But once we get through this Delta wave of infection over the course of the next two months, I think this therapeutic and other innovations that we’ve seen coming to market really mark the end of the pandemic in the United States.
