A federal court issued Texas a temporary victory in its lawsuit against the Biden administration’s coronavirus vaccine mandate issuing a stay on the controversial federal government regulation in Texas.

Earlier in the week, Paxton sued the Biden administration over the mandate and argued that the move to force workers at companies with over 100 employees to be vaccinated or undergo weekly testing is "flatly unconstitutional."
"Biden’s new vaccine mandate on private businesses is a breathtaking abuse of power," Paxton tweeted Friday. "OSHA has only limited power & specific responsibilities. This latest move goes way outside those bounds. This ‘standard’ is flatly unconstitutional. I’m asking the Court to strike it down."

TEXAS ATTORNEY GENERAL SUES BIDEN ADMINISTRATION, SLAMS 'FLATLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL' FEDERAL VACCINE MANDATE
OSHA is giving employers with more than 100 employees a Jan. 4 deadline to comply with President Biden's COVID-19 vaccine mandate and threatening thousands of dollars in fines for defiant businesses, according to a fact sheet released by the White House Thursday.
The White House has stood by the mandate despite pushback from several Republican led states and argued that the move is a workplace standard rather than a mandate.
White House Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded to a question at a Friday press briefing about whether or not she is confident the mandate will stand up to legal challenges.

"We are very confident that it can," Jean-Pierre said. "As for the legal side of this, let me be crystal clear to avoid what appears to be possible misinformation or disinformation around the emergency temporary standard being a vaccine mandate. That would be on its face incorrect as has been explicit for months. It is a standard for safe workplace to either comply with weekly testing or to be vaccinated."
Paxton spoke with Fox News Digital after the decision and said that he is "really pleased."

"It’s not the end of the battle but I’m excited because it gives people hope that they aren’t going to lose their jobs and the president isn’t going to be able to ruin people’s careers and make their lives more difficult," Paxton said.
Paxton added that he believes the Biden administration will appeal the decision.
"BREAKING: The Federal Court of Appeals just issued a temporary halt to Biden’s vaccine mandate," Texas Gov. Greg Abbott tweeted. "Emergency hearings will take place soon. We will have our day in court to strike down Biden’s unconstitutional abuse of authority."

HOUSTON, TEXAS – According to authorities, 8 people were declared dead and hundreds were reportedly injured during the opening night of a popular weekend music festival at NRG Park on Friday night. Videos posted on the social media showed crowd running in panic at Astroworld music festival.
According to Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña, the worst of the incident began around 9:15 p.m., when the crowd of approximately 50,000 concertgoers began to move toward the front of the stage.
According to him, this caused some panic and resulted in some injuries.
“The crowd began to compress towards the front of the stage, and that caused some panic, and it started causing some injuries,” the fire chief Peña said. “People began to fall out, become unconscious, and it created additional panic.”
In total, 17 people were taken to hospitals, eleven of whom were in cardiac arrest. According to fire chief, 8 people were declared dead.
At the event, which drew thousands of people, 300 people were treated for minor injuries such as cuts and bruises.
Travis Scott, a rapper from Missouri City, was joined on stage by Drake in a surprise appearance as the crowd surged.
Investigators were sent to hospitals on Saturday morning to try to identify the victims. The medical examiner’s office in Harris County will determine how the eight people died at Astroworld music festival.
Houston Police Chief Troy Finner has requested calm, saying that people should not jump to conclusions about what caused the crowd surge.
“I think it’s very important that none of us speculate,” he said. Tonight, no one has all of the answers.
According to the event’s website, Travis Scott’s third annual Astroworld Festival was set to take place from Friday to Saturday.
The Saturday’s event has been cancelled following the mass casualty incident.
Travis Scott, a well-known rapper and event organiser, launched the Astroworld Festival in 2018. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it, like most other large events, was cancelled in 2020.

NEW YORK—The U.S. Virgin Islands has asked British bank Barclays to hand over information related to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the bank said on Friday.
Barclays received a subpoena in the United States from the U.S. Virgin Islands in February, the bank confirmed.
“Barclays has already provided its response to this subpoena and complied with its obligations. The USVI is now in the process of serving a similar subpoena on Barclays in the U.K. and Barclays will respond to that subpoena once it is served,” a spokesman for the lender said.

Barclays said Monday that Chief Executive Jes Staley was leaving the bank after a dispute with British financial regulators over how he described his ties with Epstein.
Epstein’s estate was sued last year by the U.S. Virgin Islands, which claimed that he raped and trafficked in dozens of young women and girls on a private island in U.S. Virgin Island territory.
