FBI Raids Project Veritas Writers . . . Over A Missing Biden Diary?

There is a curious story out this weekend on reported FBI raids of writers or associates of Project Veritas, the conservative investigative journalism outfit. Project Veritas has been described variously as “Gonzo” or “guerilla” journalism and some insist it is more of a political than a press organization. However, it fits the definition of journalism, in my view, and that makes the raids troubling. All the more troubling is the cause: the missing diary of President Biden’s daughter Ashley.

The New York Times reported that the FBI searched two locations in New York in search of the “stolen” diary that went missing days before the 2020 presidential election. Project founder James O’Keefe questioned how the Times received the story within an hour of the first raid.

O’Keefe says that the organization actually received a tip that the diary was abandoned in a room, an allegation that harkened back to the abandoned laptop of Hunter Biden. However, Ashley reportedly insisted it was stolen.

The use of the FBI is also reminiscent of the still unexplained use of the FBI when Joe Biden was Vice President to search for a gun owned by Hunter Biden that was discarded behind a restaurant.

Project Veritas decided not to run the story because it could not verify that the diary belonged to Biden. (The FBI may have just offered that confirmation). Instead, it alerted the police, according to O’Keefe: “Project Veritas gave the diary to law enforcement to ensure it could be returned to its rightful owner. We never published it.”

So why the raids? Since when does the FBI conducted raids over missing diaries?

The FBI can cite the interstate elements of the alleged theft as raising a federal crime. However, what is the crime? It is not clear if they are suggesting that the responsible parties were seeking to sell the diary or that there was some national security element (which would be bizarre since Biden’s daughter was writing before her father ever became president).

Journalist organizations are routinely given material removed from businesses, agencies, or private owners without permission by confidential sources. If this is a federal crime subject to FBI raids, what happened to the new media policies of the Biden Administration after the Tucker Carlson controversy?

There are a host of unanswered questions. Here are five to start with:

1 What was the context for the diary’s loss? (Did Ashley Biden leave the diary in a room or was it stolen?)

2 What is the alleged federal crime (and what is the precedent for a major federal investigation over such an alleged theft)?

3 What precautions were taken by the Biden Administration in light of the claimed media status of the targeted individuals?

4 Why was there a delay in this action being taken if the alleged theft occurred a year ago?

5 Has this matter been under investigation for a year and did the White House request the intervention of the FBI?

Regardless of how one feels about Project Veritas, there should be calls from media outlets for some answers to these basic questions. Likewise, Congress should be seeking such answers as part of its oversight responsibilities.

Sen. Barrasso: At Climate Conference Biden ‘Pledged Allegiance To The Flag Of The United Nations’ Not The United States

Republican Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso said Sunday that President Joe Biden embarrassed Americans at the recent climate conference in Glasgow by pledging “allegiance to the flag of the United Nations,” not the United States.

“Joe Biden and a large entourage of Democrats from the House and the Senate and his cabinet all jetting off to Europe to a climate conference and for what purpose?” Barrasso asked on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures.” “What did he do there? He pledged allegiance to the flag of the United Nations instead of to the flag of the United States.”

“He basically apologized for America. He begged OPEC and [Valadmir] Putin to create more energy, to make more energy. And he promised to raise energy prices in America,” Barrasso continued.

The senator claimed that energy prices are increasing because Biden on “day number one killed the Keystone XL pipeline” while inhibiting oil and gas exploration and blocking “leasing opportunities” in the Rocky Mountains.

Barrasso also said that Biden has “shut down” Alaskan energy so much that the U.S. is now buying more oil from Russia.

He said to add insult to injury the Biden administration is composed of “climate hypocrites,” creating a carbon footprint at the conference that was “so much larger than Vladimir Putin’s or President Xi’s of China — because they stayed home.”

“The American people deserve accountability of how much taxpayer dollars we as taxpayers paid for this effort of all of these liberal Democrats to head to Europe on the taxpayer dime.”

Fox News host Maria Bartiroma asked if the senator has received a reply to his request that the Biden administration account for the cost of the conference.

“Not yet. We know this conference is the most expensive climate conference in history and we’re going to continue to bang on this administration and to get and demand answers,” Barrasso replied.

The senator said the spending is consistent with an administration that has “bloated up their tax and spending spree now to $4 trillion.”

Comedian Bill Maher mocked Biden for nodding off during one segment of the climate conference, saying the president is obviously “not woke enough” for the far-left in his party. Biden succeeded in getting unanimous agreement from G20 countries to establish a minimum corporate tax rate of 15%.

The Biden administration has also proposed that “climate change activists” be considered for refugee status.

Dan Andrews has paid for dozens of Victorian companies to attend a major trade show in China that the federal government boycotted.

The Victorian premier broke ranks with Scott Morrison's policy towards Beijing for a second time after signing up to Beijing's Belt and Road infrastructure plan

Foreign Minster Marise Payne cancelled that deal earlier this year under new veto powers, saying it wasn't in Australia's national interest to sign a $1.5 trillion contract with China.

The federal government also has no presence at the China International Import Expo, which opened on Friday, as it encourages Australian businesses to find new markets.

However, the Victorian Government covered the costs of dozens of companies to exhibit at the trade show, going against federal wishes.

'Our presence at the Expo is helping connect Victorian businesses to key markets to secure new contracts and grow jobs,' a Victorian Government spokesman said.

The Victorian Government has its own stall, which is branded with its official logos, as part of a major trade push into China.

Mr Andrews also commissioned a building in Shanghai called Vic House, which opened a few weeks ago, to facilitate closer trade ties.

Federal Trade Minister Dan Tehan said in a briefing with China-focused businesses that the federal government wanted a 'whole of nation' approach to dealings with the country.

'Team Australia – Australian government (and) Australian business working together – has never ever been more important,' he told the companies.

There are 100 Australian companies hosting exhibits at the China International Import Expo, down from 180 in 2020, according to The Australian.

The Morrison Government is encouraging businesses to diversify away from China that have been worth $20 billion to the political rivals in the past.

Mr Tehan told a Taiwan-focused businesses a day before the Import Expo that companies needed to move into markets that were not dependent on China.

'We welcome businesses considering alternative markets and a diversified consumer base to protect themselves against shifting demand over a protracted period,' he said.

Spanish police have launched an investigation into an incident that saw 12 passengers run away from a Turkey-bound plane that made an emergency landing in Mallorca. Authorities are trying to find out if the incident was staged.

The Spanish authorities suspect they might have fallen victim to a clever ruse devised by a group of would-be migrants seeking to make their way into Spain. The country's police have launched an investigation into a potential migration law violation after 23 passengers attempted to escape an Air Arabia flight en route from Morocco to Turkey as it made an emergency landing on the Spanish island of Mallorca on Friday.

The plane was forced to land after one of the passengers on board seemingly suffered what appeared to be a diabetic coma and asked for medical attention. When he was rushed to hospital, it suddenly turned out that the man was quite alive and well.

Other passengers apparently seized this opportunity to flee the plane. A video circulating on social media, which has since been confirmed as authentic by the police, shows around a dozen people rushing through the plane’s cabin and running across the tarmac.

Mother says 'strong-minded and fearless' daughter, 7, suspended 36 times from school for not wearing a mask may have to repeat second grade

A Florida girl may have to repeat second grade after she was suspended 36 times for not complying with the school district's mask mandate.

Bailey Lashells describes her 7-year-old daughter as a typical child who enjoys drawing, arts and crafts, and making jewelry. The mother also says her daughter's priorities have changed since the pandemic.

Fiona Lashells — a student in Palm Beach County — first refused to wear a face mask at school on Aug. 31, and was forced to eat a silent lunch alone in an office hallway. The second-grader has since been suspended 36 times.

"Fiona is a strong-minded and fearless young girl who was ready to conquer the world at seven," the mother told the Tampa Free Press.

"Unfortunately, the blows just seem to not stop as she was recently told after completing every assignment her teacher will provide that she is not only failing second grade but that there is no way she could catch up, per her teacher," Bailey Lashells said.

Fiona's fight against mask mandates caught the attention of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The Republican governor signed an executive order in July banning mask mandates in Florida schools, giving the parents the choice to mask or unmask their children. The Palm Beach County school district was one of several school districts in Florida to defy the mask mandate ban.

The School District of Palm Beach County's universal mask mandate for students will finally offer parents an opt-out option on Monday after a judge declared that the DeSantis administration was within its authority to impose a ban on mask mandates.

DeSantis appeared on "Fox & Friends" on Wednesday with Fiona.

"I'm not wearing a mask because you touch it, and you have germs on your hands, and then you put it on your face and then you breathe in all the germs," Fiona said.

"Fox & Friends" host Steve Doocy asked Fiona how she felt about the possibility of having to repeat the second grade.

"Well, I don't feel good about that, and I don't want to take the grade over again because I've also been doing most of the work at home," the young girl said.

DeSantis noted, "All 67 counties have had a huge decline in COVID cases among school-age children. Most of them did not have forced masking. So this is not something that has been proven to be effective. And obviously, as we see with Fiona, it has caused harm to some of our students."

DeSantis pointed to Glenn Youngkin's victory in the Virginia gubernatorial election as a sign that "people are rebelling against what the Democrat Party stands for nowadays," including "never-ending mandates and restrictions because of COVID."
