Formal Complaint Filed Against Green Bay Mayor for Turning 2020 Elections Over to Far Left Operative, Including Secret Access to Internet and Ballot Warehouse

As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich gave the keys to the arena where ballots were stored before the the 2020 election to far left radical and former Facebook employee Michael Spitzer Rubenstein.

We then reported that emails revealed that Michael Spitzer-Rubenstein, Wisconsin state lead for the National Vote at Home Institute, was given secret internet access to the hotel convention center where ballots were counted in Green Bay.

Then in October a group of local Wisconsin patriots who call themselves ‘Wisconsin HOT’ uncovered another major elections scandal in Wisconsin. A Racine Clerk worked with a former Facebook employee to create an app to track votes in real-time before the 2020 election. The former Facebook employee was Michael Spitzer-Rubenstein. Rubenstein asked to get into ‘WisVote’ per an email obtained by Wisconsin HOT.

Information in this email was received from the City of Racine, Wisconsin in a record request made on March 20, 2021, by H.O.T. This information was posted at www.hotgoverment.com.

A new formal complaint was filed against Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich on Friday.

FOX 11 reported:

The complaint states Genrich mishandled the November election by allowing a non-resident to run Central Count operations.

In the Code of Conduct for City of Green Bay , the code states that “members of the Common Council and the Mayor shall maintain the utmost standards of personal integrity, trustfulness, honesty, and fairness in carrying out their public duties.”

Green Bay resident Kimber Rollin alleges Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich violated that code in a complaint filed with the city on Thursday.

Rollin points out the city used grant money from the Center for Tech and Civil Life to help carry out the November election.

The complaint alleges, as part of that grant, Genrich allowed non-resident Michael Spitzer Rubenstein to run Central Count.

Rollin argues allowing a non-resident to run Central Count is a violation of Wisconsin State Statutes.

Genrich has defended the city’s handling of the election for the past year, including comments during a March 16 common council meeting. Genrich said, “Now nothing of human creation is perfect, but our election was pretty darn close.”

Fed Governor Quarles Resigns

Federal Reserve Governor Randal Quarles will step down from the central bank in the last week of December.

Quarles joined the Board in 2017.

In October, the Fed announced that Fed Vice Chairman for Supervision Randal Quarles will be removed from his role as the main watchdog of Wall Street banks after his four-year-term officially expired. The Fed made the announcement in a statement that sought to answer key questions for banks and Democrats about how the Trump appointee’s era of oversight will end.

As Bloomberg reports, his resignation answers a thorny question for the White House, too, which was forced to wonder how long the appointee of former President Donald Trump would stay on the board and slow down the leadership overhaul the administration is planning for the Fed. Technically, Quarles could have stayed in his governor term and many of his Republican friends had asked him to hold on into 2022.

NHS accused of 'lying' about Covid stats to promote vaccination

NHS chief Amanda Pritchard claimed that 14 times as many Covid-19 patients are in Britain’s hospitals as this time last year. However, even the NHS itself has admitted that Pritchard’s claim uses misleading figures.

Multiple news reports on Monday told the same story: Britain’s hospitals are seeing “14 times more coronavirus patients than this time last year,” and the country faces a “difficult winter,” as people gather indoors, where the virus is more likely to spread.

The source of the “14 times” figure is Amanda Pritchard, Chief Executive of NHS England. Pritchard used the apparently alarming surge in hospitalisations to encourage the 4.5 million Britons who still haven’t gotten vaccinated to roll up their sleeves, and those eligible to take their third shot of the vaccine.

However, NHS data shows that Pritchard’s figures are false. According to the health service, a 7-day average of 9,331 Covid-19 patients were in hospital at the beginning of November, compared to 12,654 a year earlier. Just over 1,000 people per day were being admitted to hospital at the end of October, compared to 1,500 last year.

Pritchard was swiftly accused of peddling fake news, with commentators warning that such misleading figures were straying into “resignation territory.”

Amid a growing clamour online, NHS officials told reporters shortly afterwards that Pritchard was citing figures from August 2021 compared to August 2020. Hospital admissions were indeed 14 times higher this August than in 2020, but only for several days toward the end of the month. Since then, they have trended downwards and are now comparable to last year’s rate.

However, hospitalisations persist despite the fact that nine out of 10 people over the age of 12 in the UK have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, according to NHS statistics. Rising cases too have called into question the long-term efficacy of the jabs, but government officials still insist on vaccination as key to defeating the virus – and studies suggest those vaccinated patients still fare better if they catch the virus.

As Pritchard called on the population to get vaccinated or go in for booster jabs, former Health Secretary Matt Hancock called on Monday for the government to mandate vaccines for healthcare workers. “There is no respectable argument left not to force health and social care workers to get jabbed,” he wrote in The Telegraph, calling the vaccine “the only reason for the safe return of our liberty.”

Kremlin reveals Putin spoke to head of CIA

As well as meeting the secretary of the Russian Security Council and the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service, the director of America’s CIA has also had a phone call with President Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin has revealed.

Speaking to the press on Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov revealed that CIA boss William Burns talked directly with Putin. This is unusual for the Russian leader, who typically delegates discussions with other foreign officials, generally preferring only to speak directly to heads of state.

“They discussed bilateral relations and the current crisis in bilateral diplomatic relations. They also exchanged views on regional conflicts,” Peskov told reporters.

Burns was in Moscow for a two-day working visit last week, along with a delegation of senior American officials.

During his trip, the CIA director met with Nikolay Patrushev, secretary of the Security Council, and Sergey Naryshkin, the director of the Foreign Intelligence Service.

According to Reuters, citing a US Embassy spokesperson, the visit was conducted at American President Joe Biden’s request.

Burns’ trip was the latest in a series of recent bilateral talks between American and Russian officials. Last month, US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland traveled to Moscow for a three-day visit, but negotiations broke down without producing any tangible results. In June, the two presidents met face-to-face in Geneva, in discussions that were assessed positively by both sides.

Mafia ‘mega-trial’ convicts 70 members of Italy’s most powerful clan

An Italian judge has convicted 70 people connected to the country’s most powerful mafia clan – the 'Ndrangheta, with some receiving maximum-length sentences.

The marathon Mafia trial was held over the weekend and saw 91 defendants tried in a specially converted court room in the Calabrian city of Lamezia Terme.

A total of 70 mobsters were convicted in the trial, one of the country’s largest ever. The charges against those on trial included drugs trafficking, murder, extortion, theft and abuse of office.

Anti-mafia prosecutor Nicola Gratteri – who has lived under police protection for more than 30 years as a result of his mission to defeat the clan – remarked that the sentencing was an “important” one and that he was not “afraid of anything or anyone”.

Some of the mobsters sentenced had opted for a quick, private trial to have their jail time shortened by a third if they were found guilty. About a third of the group are set to serve over 10 years behind bars.

However, a handful of key clan members were slapped with the maximum 20-year sentence prosecutors pushed for. Pasquale Gallone, 62, who helped coordinate his boss’s three-year run from 2014, was one of the gangsters to receive a two-decade long sentence.

Among the people tried, the majority of the 19 acquitted were only marginal suspects, Gratteri said.

Commenting on the verdict, he said that: “We continue our work with serenity and the firmness needed for such an important trial.”

The next two years will see 355 alleged gangsters and corrupt officials face the docks for their involvement with the 'Ndrangheta, a network of some 150 families.

The clan, more powerful than the notorious Sicilian Cosa Nostra mob, is a major player in Europe’s cocaine trafficking, said to control about 80% of the continent’s smuggling operations.

Hackers stole passwords, targeted US Defense Department entities in sweeping raid – security firm

Hackers have breached at least nine organizations globally in sensitive sectors and targeted US Department of Defense entities, a cybersecurity company has said.

According to a report by security firm Palo Alto Networks, a group of unidentified criminals scanned at least 370 servers across the US in September and October. The scans were “largely indiscriminate in nature,” the firm said, with targets ranging from educational institutions to servers linked to the Department of Defense.

Using publicly available Chinese-language tools, hackers breached at least nine organizations globally, the firm said. Palo Alto Networks did not identify which organizations were compromised, but said they worked in industries related to technology, defense, healthcare, energy and education.

The Palo Alto Networks vice president responsible for threat intelligence, Ryan Olson, told CNN the nine victims were the “tip of the spear” of a larger apparent spying campaign. Olson said hackers have stolen passwords from targeted organizations hoping to maintain long-term access to their networks.

CNN reported that the US National Security Agency (NSA) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) were tracking the hackers’ activities, and the NSA has helped Palo Alto Networks to analyze the threat. The NSA and CISA declined to comment on the identity of the hackers, the channel said.

Cyber criminals around the world have managed to successfully breach multiple large corporations and government agencies in recent years, demanding ransom money for sensitive data, or trying to sell it on the darknet. Just weeks ago, hackers broke into the Indian servers of Taiwanese electronics giant Acer, reportedly obtaining personal information on millions of customers.

House of Lords for sale? Met Police urged to probe bombshell claims

Scotland Yard has been urged to open an investigation into an alleged Tory ‘cash for honours’ scheme after it was revealed that more than a dozen party backers were given peerages following million-pound donations.

According to a joint investigation by the Sunday Times and Open Democracy, the Conservative Party has been abusing the honours system by offering seats in the UK’s House of Lords to a select group of major boosters.

“Once you pay your £3million, you get your peerage,” one former Tory chairman allegedly said, according to the Times.

“The Metropolitan Police should launch a fresh cash for honours investigation to determine whether a criminal offence has been committed,” Scottish National Party (SNP) MP Peter Wishart said in response to the allegations. Wishart said the Tory corruption scandal was “growing worse by the day.”

Over the last two decades, all but one of the Tory party’s main treasurers have been offered a peerage. That list includes businessman Peter Cruddas, whose peerage sparked controversy last year after Prime Minister Boris Johnson overruled a House of Lords commission’s recommendation not to elevate him to a peerage.

Since the Conservatives came to power in 2010, 22 of the party’s biggest donors have been made lords after donating a total of £54 million. Despite a former Tory treasurer admitting there was a “tradition of ennobling party treasurers,” the party denied that the nominations were tied to donations.

Cabinet minister George Eustice told the BBC that the nominees, being “successful” in business, brought “valuable” expertise to their seats.

Opposition parties are piling on the pressure, however, at a time when the government is still dealing with the fallout of the Owen Paterson lobbying scandal. Last week, the former MP resigned after he was deemed to have used his position as MP to lobby for companies where he worked as an adviser.

Deputy Labour Party leader Angela Rayner said the latest ‘cash for peerage’ allegations showed the Conservative Party is “corrupt, dodgy, sleazy and on the take.”

Although it is a crime to buy or sell an honour, no charges were brought in previous allegations about peers who had made large loans to Labour despite several arrests.

‘Trooper of the Year’ Gets 17.5 Years for Producing Child Porn, Distributing It to His Own Network

Baton Rouge, LA — In 2018, Louisiana State Police Trooper of 18 years, Jason Boyet received one of the department’s highest honors—Trooper of the Year. Fast forward two years, and this hero cop was thrown in a jail cell after being arrested on charges of production and distribution of child pornography. His crimes were apparently so depraved and sickening that his blue privilege ran out and he was sentenced this month to 17.5 years in prison.

This Trooper of the Year was alleged to have been running his own child porn network. Not only was he allegedly distributing the horrifying images and videos, he was producing them! Earlier this year, he pleaded guilty to horrifying crimes against children as young as three years old.

Even more disturbing is the fact that Boyet is reportedly married and has three children. According to details in the DOJ report, some of the children in the images could have been his own kids.

According to the FBI, an undercover agent accessed a chat room which was known to appeal to “purveyors of digital files depicting the sexual victimization of children.” Boyet frequented the chat room where he would distribute the images of children being sexually assaulted. Indicating that they may have been his own children, Boyet claimed to have custody and control of at least one of the victims in the photos.

When Boyet was arrested, FBI determined that many of the photos being distributed of young children were taken with this monster’s own iPhone between December 19, 2019, and February 11, 2020.

When a search warrant was originally executed, the FBI accessed an online storage account where Boyet received at least 151 images and 195 videos depicting child sexual abuse as young as 1 year old.

As part of his sentence, Boyet must also serve 5 years of supervised release and register as a sex offender. A restitution hearing is scheduled for February 2, 2022.

In a Facebook post from 2018, LSP Troop L issued the following praise about their star trooper of they year.

Senior Trooper Jason Boyet was recognized as the Louisiana State Police Troop L Trooper of the Year at the annual Slidell Elks Law and Order Night. When considering candidates, S/T Boyet’s supervisors highlighted his job performance, initiative, professionalism, and most of all leadership.

We wonder if they still feel this way about this alleged child predator.

Peppering the Louisiana State Police Facebook page are dozens of images of mugshots from people accused of petty theft, drug possession and other small crimes. Absent from their page, however, is Boyet’s mug shot and any mention that their Trooper of the Year was accused and arrested for allegedly producing and distributing child pornography. Seems legit.

Gates, who has a long history of collaboration with the Chinese Communist Party in his personal and professional capacities, visited the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) in June 2014 to deliver a speech on philanthropy.

The CPAFFC has been dubbed the “public face” of the United Front Work Department – a billion-dollar effort executed by the Chinese Communist Party seeking “to co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of its ruling Chinese Communist Party” and “influence foreign individuals and the policies of foreign states to serve Beijing’s interests,” according to the federal U.S.-China Security and Economic Review Commission.

Also referred to as “avowedly an arm of the party-state,” CPAFFC has been flagged by the U.S. State Department for its campaigns to “directly and malignly influence” American officials and business leaders.

Hundreds of Thousands to Go on Four-Day Nationwide Strike Over Vaccine Mandates: Organizer

A massive, nationwide strike against vaccine mandates will take place from Nov. 8 to Nov. 11, according to the main organizer for the walkout, Leigh Dundas, a human rights attorney and public speaker.

The event will kick off in Los Angeles on Monday. The locations of the marches have not yet been disclosed.

The walkouts involve people from various industries such as trucking and telecom. Air and rail transport workers are not federally allowed to go on strike due to a law passed in 1926 named the Railway Labor Act, but some plan to protest anonymously.

“The Golden Gate Bridge Rally is going to be an epic and unprecedented moment in time. It will mark—on Veterans’ Day evening—a 4-day Nationwide walkout, by rank and file workers everywhere, from blue-collar to white-collar, black, white, yellow, red, every faith, every creed, who are uniquely united despite their differences on one common truth: that vaccine mandates have no place in a truly free society,” Dundas told The Epoch Times.

“Every group: anti-vaccine, BLM, gay, straight, Jewish, Muslim, Native American, Asian, Latino, Christian, atheist—all groups—are coming together for this one historic moment in time—to trumpet not just to our own government, but indeed to the watching eyes of the world, that vaccine mandates will no longer be tolerated. ‘System Change, Not Climate Change’ Green Activists Call for ‘Socialist Revolution’ at COP26

Far-left climate activists called for a “socialist revolution” — supposedly to help the environment — at the “Global Day of Action for Climate Justice” protest in Glasgow, Scotland.

Tens of thousands poured out onto the streets of Glasgow outside the United Nations’ COP26 climate summit taking place in the city. Organisers claimed that as many as 100,000 turned out for the Saturday demo, however, the figure has not been confirmed by police who monitored the event.

The demonstration featured a cross-section of leftist activists, with the flags of Antifa and the Scottish Socialist Party being held high at the march.

Two activists told Breitbart London that socialism was the answer to the alleged climate crisis, shouting out “system change, not climate change”.

“We need a socialist revolution,” one of the demonstrators said, adding that the world needs to “get rid of all these capitalist bastards”.

The other activist told said that “fossil fuel companies can go and drown in their fossil fuels”.

He claimed that a socialist system would be a “democratic society” in which all engineers are “retrained” to focus on “renewable energy”.

Celebrating the massive demonstration, teenage climate campaigner Greta Thunberg wrote on social media: “Our so-called ‘leaders’ aren’t leading – THIS is what leadership looks like! #UprootTheSystem.”

The attacks on the capitalist system — which has lifted more people out of poverty than any other — have been a consistent theme of the protests in Glasgow.

On Friday, climate activist Mikaela Loach said that the green movement needs to demand an “end to capitalism“.

Her fellow eco-warrior, Fraser Stewart told the crowd that “climate justice is social justice”.

“This is not just a crisis of climate or emissions, this is a crisis of justice, of inequality, of poverty, of racism, of classism, of workers’ rights, and women’s rights and every intersection in between,” Stewart explained.

Italy Receives 2,500 African Migrant Sea Arrivals in One Week

A total of 2,572 African migrants have disembarked in Italy in the week between November 2 and 8, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported Monday.

This week’s additional arrivals bring the total number of migrants into the European Union (EU) in 2021 to 121, 463, the IOM noted.

This figure represents a significant increase over 2020, which saw a total of 99,475 migrant arrivals in the entire year.

The most common nation of provenance of the immigrants in 2021 is Tunisia, followed by Algeria, “unidentified sub-Saharan,” and Morocco.

On Sunday, the German NGO Sea Eye 4 vessel unloaded 847 migrants at the Sicilian port of Trapani, after being granted permission to disembark by Italian authorities. Around half of the migrants were picked up from a sinking wooden boat on November 4, while the others were collected from the sea in separate operations.

Meanwhile, another NGO ship, Ocean Viking, awaits assignment of a port near the tiny Italian island of Lampedusa to unload its 306 migrant passengers.

Migrant arrivals into Italy have been increasing steadily since its leftward leaning government reopened its ports to disembarkations and welcomed the work of NGO rescue ships, which many say encourages would-be migrants to undertake the perilous passage across the Strait of Sicily to Italy.

Former interior minister Matteo Salvini, who brought mass migration under control during his tenure, has been very critical of the current administration’s immigration policy.

“NGOs in action: another 1,000 illegal immigrants to Italy,” he tweeted on November 4. “They are foreign organizations, with foreign ships, which were in Libyan and Maltese waters. They must not land in our country.”

Migrant arrivals into Italy in 2019 totaled a mere 11,471. In 2020, the number trebled to 34,154 and as of November 8, the total for 2021 stands at 56,009, nearly half of the total for all of Europe.

All of Italy’s arrivals in 2021 have come by sea.

Back in the 1980s, I was a Columbia University student learning about a plan to destroy America and end capitalism. It was called Cloward-Piven – named after a Columbia University husband-wife professor team. Their insane goal was to turn America into a socialist/communist hellhole.

They planned to do it by overwhelming and collapsing the US economy with massive debt, created by getting as many Americans as possible on welfare, food stamps and unemployment. In the ensuing economic catastrophe and collapse of our country, every business owner would get on their knees to beg government to save them.

At that moment of crisis and chaos, we would become a socialist/communist country.

Don’t look now, but it’s happening. The communists of Columbia (and every other elitist Ivy League school) have tried for decades to force a majority of Americans on welfare. They failed. But they won’t give up.

They’ve modified the plan. It’s now a powerful one-two punch. First, they’ve opened the borders to let millions of illegal aliens into this country – almost all of whom want cradle to grave welfare. Also, don’t forget they all need free healthcare for themselves and their kids, and their new babies, and their extended families. That alone could overwhelm the system and collapse the economy. That’s before welfare and food stamps. And then there’s free public school for all their children and expensive English-as-a-second-language programs that cost billions of dollars, but make teachers unions filthy rich.

Open borders is Cloward Piven- updated for 2021. And as the greatest bonus ever, Democrats know these millions of foreigners will loyally vote for the party who let them in, and then promises to give them the biggest welfare checks. These are lifetime Democrat voters.

But there is now a powerful Part Deux to Cloward-Piven. Democrats aren’t content to just welcome tens of millions of foreign welfare addicts into the USA. They also want to make tens of millions of American-born citizens unemployed and dependent on government too.

So, Part Deux of Cloward-Piven is the Vaccine Mandates.

These Covid vaccine mandates are destroying the country, creating chaos, crisis and division. They are wiping out the ranks of the police, fire, paramedics, nurses, prison guards, border patrol and military. Our middle class is being ripped to shreds. These frontline heroes and defenders don’t want this dangerous, experimental, for-emergency- use-only jab. There will soon be no one to answer your 9-1-1 call. Data released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed that between Dec. 14, 2020, and Oct. 29, 2021, a total of 856,919 adverse events following COVID vaccines were reported to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS).

The data included a total of 18,078 reports of deaths — an increase of 459 over the previous week. There were 127,457 reports of serious injuries, including deaths, during the same time period — up 3,570 compared with the previous week.

Excluding “foreign reports” to VAERS, 634,609 adverse events, including 8,284 deaths and 52,685 serious injuries, were reported in the U.S. between Dec. 14, 2020, and Oct. 29, 2021.

Of the 8,284 U.S. deaths reported as of Oct. 29, 10% occurred within 24 hours of vaccination, 15% occurred within 48 hours of vaccination and 26% occurred in people who experienced an onset of symptoms within 48 hours of being vaccinated.

In the U.S., 418.6 million COVID vaccine doses had been administered as of Oct. 29. This includes: 246 million doses of Pfizer, 157 million doses of Moderna and 15 million doses of Johnson & Johnson (J&J).

Hospital visits for reasons UNRELATED to COVID-19 led to more than 10,000 people contracting the virus in the U.S. in just five months with 2,000 dying

People visiting hospital for reasons that had nothing to do with the coronavirus often led to them contracting the disease - with more than 2,000 of them dying.

Data released by Kaiser Health News, a non-profit organization, details how there were more than 10,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 that began in hospitals in 2020.

The organization believes the true number of cases is in fact far higher.

Around 21 percent of the cases that started in hospitals between the months of April and September last year led to the deaths of more than 2,000 people.

Some say part of the blame lies with poor hospital infection control protocols and staff spreading the virus to one another, and then to patients.

Although staff were also separated depending on who they were treating and were instructed to social distance at all times from other staff members, often they would congregate in areas to use computers, access records and take breaks.

Other studies suggest moving patients between beds on wards to create space was another vector for infection. Some older hospitals were at a greater risk of outbreaks because of narrow corridors, small rooms and poor ventilation.

Scientists in charge of stemming hospital outbreaks say hospital-acquired cases of Covid-19 'were a major problem' in the early days of the pandemic but say hospitals are 'absolutely safe' now.

This meant that just 127 women received either the Pfizer or Moderna Covid-19 vaccine during the first / second trimester, with 104 of the woman sadly losing their baby.

Therefore the rate of incidence of miscarriage was 82%, not 12.6% as presented in the findings of the study, and the authors of the study have since admitted that they made a mistake, issuing a correction six months too late, because the study has been used to justify Covid-19 vaccination of pregnant women and new mothers around the world.

But now two researchers from New Zealand have re-analysed the study and called for countries to halt the administration of Covid-19 vaccines to pregnant and breastfeeding women immediately due to extremely concerning findings.

The correction resolved some of the issues, but there are still more, according to Dr. Simon Thornley, a senior lecturer in the University of Auckland’s Section of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and Dr. Aleisha Brock, another researcher in New Zealand.

How 31 Republicans Just Betrayed The Country To Reward Illegal Immigration, Worsen Inflation, And Pay Off Democrats’ Donors

A vote for the bipartisan infrastructure bill is a vote for Biden's reconciliation legislation – the largest cradle-to-grave expansion of federal power since the New Deal.

At nearly midnight on Friday, 13 House Republicans gave Speaker Nancy Pelosi the votes she needed to pass the so-called “bipartisan infrastructure bill” — colloquially known in DC as the BIF. In doing so, these House Republicans, among them two members of the House GOP leadership team, all but guaranteed House passage of Joe Biden’s hotly partisan, $2 trillion reconciliation bill, which represents the largest cradle-to-grave expansion of federal power since the New Deal.

Over at National Review, Philip Klein called the move by these 13 Republicans “political malpractice,” and a “betrayal.” He’s right, particularly on the first point.

Republicans who supported the bill predictably justified their vote as one for “roads and bridges,” pointing to the benefits that the bill’s largest provisions — like the $47 billion in climate funding and the $66 billion for the failing Amtrak system, provided without any reform — will ostensibly bring to their districts.

As Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) told The Hill, “I thought it was good for our district, I thought it was good for our country.” Meanwhile, left-of-center commentator Andrew Sullivan huffed about the “fanatical tribalism” being applied to a bill about infrastructure.

That the BIF was a bill solely focused on infrastructure may have been true at the bill’s conception. But for months, a single and unavoidable political reality has been obvious: the substance of the bill hardly mattered. Rather, the infrastructure bill was but a chit, a chess piece, in forcing through passage of the larger, hotly partisan reconciliation legislation. Their fates were linked; one would not pass without the other.

This was a choice made very clearly, and very openly, by congressional Democrats. In June, Pelosi stated, “There ain’t gonna be no bipartisan bill, unless we have a reconciliation bill,” a sentiment she reiterated in October when she confirmed “the bipartisan infrastructure bill will pass once we have agreement on the reconciliation bill.”

House Progressives made the linkage of the two bills central to their strategy of leveraging concessions in the reconciliation legislation, refusing to provide votes for the BIF until their reconciliation demands were met (six of them ended up refusing to support passage the BIF, paving the way for House Republicans to be the deciding votes).

Even President Joe Biden tied the fate of the infrastructure legislation to the reconciliation bill. He did so explicitly in June, then said he didn’t really mean it after Senate Republicans expressed outrage (but then 18 of them voted to pass the bill in August, anyway), and then linked them again in October when he told House Democrats that infrastructure “ain’t going to happen until we reach an agreement on the next piece of legislation,” reconciliation the infrastructure bill.

In response to a tweet from Adriana Aviles, a concerned parent who shared photos of the teacher’s union president sitting maskless on a panel with other guests at the conference, Weingarten attempted to defend her action, writing: “You could not be [at] #Somos or the hotel or panel [without] proof of vaccination. Israeli scientists tweak brains to cause illness, gaining psychosomatic insights

After making mice sick using their neurons alone, researchers at the Technion believe they may have laid foundations for brain-based cures to inflammation in humans

Scientists in Israel say they have observed exactly how the brain can make the body sick — and believe tweaks in the behavior of gray matter could stop inflammation in the bowel, colon and elsewhere.

Researchers at at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology activated certain combinations of neurons in healthy mice, who had no physical problems at all, and watched inflammation suddenly appear. This illustrates the power of the brain to initiate physical illness and shows how it happens, they say.

The experiment, which involved dozens of mice, suggested that at least some psychosomatic illness is caused by the brain “replaying” an episode of physically induced illness to the body.

The Technion scientists, working in collaboration with scholars from the University of Haifa and EMMS Hospital in Nazareth, induced inflammation in mice, some in the colon and some in the abdomen, monitored their neuron activity, and then waited for them to recover. Then, they induced renewed inflammation in the same location — simply by activating the identical combination of neurons they observed during the original inflammation.

“This suggests that the brain stores some kind of representation of inflammatory conditions that mice experience, and has a way of causing the same inflammation,” Prof. Asya Rolls, the neuroimmunologist who led the study, told The Times of Israel. “While there is a gap between experiments in mice and understanding humans, this opens up a new line of investigation for psychosomatic illness in humans.

“I was surprised to see the effect so clearly, with inflammation starting soon after neurons were activated, even though there was no pathogen or other physical trigger,” Rolls said.

She said that the research, newly peer reviewed and published in the journal Cell, is one of the clearest glimpses so far into psychosomatic illness, and one of the most promising.

The researchers hope that if the brain has the power to initiate inflammation, then suppressing the brain activity that does so may help combat inflammation.

When the research moves from mice to humans, it could pave the way for understanding the potentially psychosomatic elements of irritable bowel syndrome and some allergies.

Such an approach to treatment may reduce reliance on immunosuppressants, Rolls said.
