The renewed war on coal isn't talked about much, but this has to be playing a factor with Manchin.
Manchin, even though he's a dem, d oesn't strike me as one who would forsake his constituents. He's like the old style dems, in a way. There's established perimeters with him and unless his constituents interests are addressed he'll bare his teeth and challenge you.
Dems aren't going to go with coal, and I think I saw some coal dissing around the climate summit, too.
I think some people never lose the memory of their roots, where they came from, and stay true to them. He may be like that.
People talk of his yacht, but I think he lives on that. Perhaps more prudent an investment than buying a home in DC, for example. He can sail it to FL when he retires, too.
