Homeschooling has allowed many parents who know what's what to introduce their kids to real knowledge while in "school". However, homeschooling isn't a realistic option for every family, and even for those families who go the homeschooling route, it's often confusing for parents as to what materials to select. Combine that with state regulations on what homeschooled kids have to "know" to be in an "approved homeschooling program", and there are still lots of obstacles out there.
