It's a pretty hard, mostly thankless job. This anon, due to a horrible event affecting my family, has been watching court streams in a particular county in Texas, to follow the hearings, learn how things are done, and get information that is not being supplied to the victims and their families in a timely manner, if at all. During the past year of watching, pretty much every day, I have learned a great deal about both prosecution and defense attorneys.I could probably do a MTR (motion to remove probation/bail conditions) as a prosecutor right now, and I'm not a lawyer.

That being said, I highly recommend if other anons have court/jail situations going on, watch the Zoom hearings in the court. It's a great way to choose a defense attorney, because you can see them in action. I have had the occasion to give recommendations to others in the area, for family law and potentially criminal situations, and I was able to give two names, and they both wound up being great. On the bad side, getting court appointed clients can suck big time.
