The policy comes as the White House announced that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is issuing a rule that will require workers at facilities who receive Medicare and Medicaid funding to be vaccinated against the virus.

 

"To date, HCA Healthcare has encouraged our colleagues to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and made vaccines readily available, but we have not mandated vaccination," said the spokesperson. "To comply with recently issued federal healthcare regulations, we are now requiring our colleagues to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by January 4, 2022."

I have 27 young nurses who have indicated they are resigning over this mandate and am not sure what safe solution there is. HCA has an opportunity to stand by their mission statement of being “committed to the care and improvement of human life” which includes our staff. Hoping HCA reconsiders and becomes the pioneering healthcare system to advocate for rights of staff. In doing so, they will resolve any staffing shortages in all facilities. We can absorb those independent thinking employees of other facilities. Let’s do this, Mr.Hazen! Let’s change the course of this by giving employees rights!

Healthcare providers have been mandated by the federal government to have all employees and contractors vaccinated. To force this, the government is not reimbursing the Hospitals for Medicare or Medicaid if they don't adhere to the mandate……..
