A major hospital group with facilities all over the state has announced a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for employees.

HCA Healthcare will require all workers to be fully vaccinated by January 4.

That's the deadline set by the OSHA requirement for companies with a hundred or more employees, but that rule is currently blocked by an appeals court's emergency stay.

Loudoun Co. pharmacy gives wrong COVID-19 dosage to kids

Parents of roughly 100 children have been advised to talk to their pediatricians after their children received a potentially lower-than-recommended dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at a Loudoun County, Virginia, pharmacy last week. The pharmacy gave the children a low dose of the adult version of the vaccine rather than the pediatric version specifically for children under 12.

More than 2 million Ellume Covid-19 home tests recalled due to false positives

Ellume first announced a voluntary recall of some of its rapid antigen tests in October due to an increased chance of false positives. More than 2 million tests are now included in the recall, the US Food and Drug Administration said Wednesday.

This recall has been identified by the FDA as a Class I recall, "the most serious type of recall," as "use of these tests may cause serious adverse health consequences or death." The FDA said false positives could lead to a delayed diagnosis or treatment of the actual cause of a person's illness; receiving unnecessary Covid-19 treatment which may have side effects; and disregard for precautions against Covid-19, including vaccination.
