Common misconception.

 

While there are many retirees here (sick of shoveling snow), they are at approx 50% of the full population. Pic pertains.

 

We know this, cuz the old farts whine and scream every November when their property taxes come out, and they complain about paying school taxes (majority of the bill). They totally don't get that PEOPLE WITH FAMILIES (the other 50% here) are the ones waiting on them hand and foot everytime they step out in public- and the kids in those families need to go to school. They can't see past their noses to understand that if THAT 50% of the population was not here, there would be no servers at Panera, no nurses at the dr's office, and no cashiers at Publix, No one to build/repair their houses, etc.

 

It's all they talk about in the coffe shops, from November til April when they start planning their journey back north- and the Florida collective heaves a sign of relief.
