The pope recounted the Biblical story in his message, which says the serpent asked Eve if God had instructed her not to eat from any of the trees in the garden. God had never told Adam not to eat from any tree, Francis said, but only from one tree, the tree of knowledge. This opens the door to more misinformation and enticement, which ultimately had disastrous effects for Adam, Eve, and the rest of humanity, the pope said.
โWe need to unmask what could be called the โsnake-tacticsโ used by those who disguise themselves in order to strike at any time and place.โ
What the pope said today is significant. He is not a black hat.
In the religious calendar we just had the Feast of the Epiphany, the baptism of Christ by John the Baptist, when the sky opened and God said, "This is my beloved son."
Now, Jesus is wandering the desert and will be tempted by Satan.
"John the Evangelist in his epistle calls these temptations "in world" as "lust of eyes" (materialism), "lust of body" (hedonism) and "pride of life" (egoism).[4] Temptations aim to mislead and pervert three main human characteristics; to think, wish and feel which are inside mind, soul and heart as Jesus alludes in Greatest Commandment. "
Remember THIS DAY. Q
And Jesus being baptized, forthwith came out of the water: and lo, the heavens were opened to him: and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon him. [17] And behold a voice from heaven, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
If Eve had not listened to the serpent, we would have never known death.
