OT: A thought occurred to me today. I'm beginning to think the witch trials and those weird medieval torture devices weren't for regular people, but were for the equivalent of the sick fucks we have in today's society.

Then, because "no one would believe it", and they covered up what was really going on, we came to think of those people as innocent, or suffering from "ergot poisoning", or were being "religiously persecuted" (Not that some of that didn't happen, mind you.)

I have not looked into it, so this idea could be totally off base. I might do some research on it when things slow down.
