Fauci email dump includes ‘sick’ March Madness-style virus bracket

The Dr. Anthony Fauci email dump includes a puzzling image — a March Madness-style tournament bracket of fatal diseases, in which coronavirus emerges as champion.

The image is titled “Dr. Fauci’s March Madness Bracketology Picks.” It is dated March 11, 2020, and signed “—Tony F.”

In the morbid pool, coronavirus — top-seeded out of the East region — defeats a field that included such dreaded diseases as Ebola, H1N1, Zika, herpes, and measles.

Whether it was a weak attempt at gallows humor among Fauci and his friends, or a published cartoon being forwarded around, isn’t clear. But the image did generate shock on social media.

“Gross,” one user tweeted. “These people are sick,” tweeted another.

During “March Madness” — the trademarked nickname for the NCAA’s annual basketball championship tournament — bar patrons and office workers commonly engage in such low-stakes “bracket” pools.

Man dies after being hit in head with skateboard during fight in Santa Ana Starbucks

SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) – A man was killed after being hit in the head with a skateboard in an act of self-defense during a fight in a Santa Ana Starbucks.

Around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, a fight broke out between two men in the 3300 block of South Bristol Street. Authorities received calls regarding an assault with a deadly weapon inside the Starbucks.

After authorities arrived, a man in his 50s was transported to Orange County Global Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

White House rallies around Kamala Harris after reports of dysfunction in West Wing

WASHINGTON – The White House rallied around Vice President Kamala Harris Monday after news media reports of discord between her office and that of President Joe Biden.

"The president relies on the vice president for her advice, for her counsel," White House press secretary Jen Psaki said when asked if Biden has confidence in Harris' leadership, adding that Harris is tackling "challenging" issues and "not looking for a cushy role" as vice president.

Psaki's comments come after a series of reports airing concerns over Harris' leadership and political future. A Sunday CNN report quoted anonymous sources describing "exasperation and dysfunction" in the vice president's office. That report drew intensive pushback from the administration.

A Friday Washington Post report contrasted Harris with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, noting that the two leaders face increased scrutiny as high-profile potential successors to Biden's legacy.

Hillary Clinton needed just five words to throw shade at former Trump White House chief strategist Steve Bannon following his indictment on contempt of Congress charges for refusing to cooperate with a House investigation into the U.S. Capitol riot.

Clinton, who has endured years of Donald Trump’s “lock her up” smears, responded to a tweet asking, “You know who is not going to jail and has never been indicted for anything?” The person who posted that question also wished Clinton a “great weekend.”

“Thanks, it was quite restful,” wrote Clinton on Monday after Bannon surrendered to the FBI.
