Hey anons… I'm on a business trip in Africa/Europe and due to covid fuckery, I showed up at the airport and found out my flight was canceled. Rebooked and found myself in Vienna for 14 hours on Sunday night. We went to a bar/restaurant to get some food. Wall to wall people, not a mask in sight - neither the patrons nor the staff. We sit down and the waitress comes over to take our order for some beer… first question out of her mouth is to see our vaccine passports. I show her my negative covid test that I took earlier that day. She looked at it and asked to see my passport. I told her I didn't have it and she looked at me like I was wearing a piece of shit on my head. She proceeds to tell me that I need to leave because the cops are going around and handing out 500 euro tickets.Out of the 200 or so people in that place, I was probably the only one that tested negative that day. No matter - there is no reasoning to this bullshit.
Sharing in case anyone is wondering if this shit is actually happening over there - it most definitely is.
As a side note, most of the people I spoke to in Morocco have taken the vaccine, but think that it is dangerous. Those guys don't have the luxury of speaking out against the king or the establishment. Without the vaccine, they don't have access to banks, grocery stores, or restaurants.
Serbia is a mixed bag. I have colleagues that think covid is bullshit, and others that took the vaccine to maintain the niceties of life. From those vaxxed, I'm also hearing that they know someone who died who wasn't vaccinated.
I didn't talk to many people in Austria, but the ones I did talk to were pretty gung ho on the vaccine. I had cordial conversations, but it was pretty clear that they thought the vaccine was a good move.
