It’s not over with Jupiter Sanctuary. I showed you some of the big blocks on the outside, now with this page I’m putting the big blocks we can see on the inside. See, there are 2 underground passage ways and ancient storage room right under the sides of Jupiter Sanctuary. I don’t know exactly how big they are and their extend under the Sanctuary, so I’ve roughly highlighted them in red boxes for anons and indicated the entrance with red arrows. It’s just a rough estimation from my part, to help anons locate them. You don’t see these when you are walking on the sanctuary, because these are under the sides. We call these passages and lower level storage rooms Cryptoportiques (in French).

Now, some of the area has been transformed into a museum where artifacts from the site itself are put on display for the public to see. While some section are used as storing spaces for equipment of all sorts.

See how the lower blocks are much bigger than the upper ones and how they were processed differently than the Roman built blocks (upper ones)? The surface texture is also different between the lower and the upper blocks.

By the way, it’s very cool down there, it’s better to take a jacket with you if you ever plan on visiting this place in the future. The cool atmosphere downstairs is due to the construction material and design. With the coolness it’s an excellent place to store stuff, mostly stuff connected to food.
