I think that is their goal. To create a machine that has access to every "bit" of human knowledge ever known, and then declare it to be God, because it knows so much. A good bit of its knowledge will be based on speculation and artificial modeling, but it will be enough to convince the 99% that its scary predicitions are gonna come true, while it generatea self-reinforcing evidence of its "holy" power.
