He mentions how, in a Retrograde Operation, you're going backwards a little bit whilst looking for weaknesses in their armour because you want to conduct a counter attack or (He specifically points out) a counter offensive in some cases.

Plenty of other info too. Paints a clear picture in a time where there's lots of smoke and mirrors.
