The obvious aim of lifelog is to forecast and control human behavior via parallel simulation of said behavior.

If they have a working model of the human mind, they can create a computer simulation of you. If they then feed that simulation with real data from your life they can play the simulation forward to predict your actions, just like a weather forecast.  Ever wonder why the deep state is so ravenous for your personal data?

Get every human on earth into the simulation and you have a looking glass of sorts which can see the future. It's the ultimate sandbox for reality control. They can change small parameters in the simulation and watch how it plays out in order to choose their game plan.

If you made a system like this you would run into some issues that would seriously interfere with your ability to translate changes in the simulation into changes in reality. For one, genetics play a non-trivial role in behavior. If every simulated mind is genetically identical but every real mind is unique then reality will always diverge from the simulation after a while… so they need to get everyone's genetic code in there.

Did you send your DNA to 23 and me? Wonder what their simulations tell them about the year 2023…

I wonder if they are running out of time and they still can't get human civilization to follow the script. Does your local store have any video cards for sale?

In engineering we have this thing called control theory: the basic premise is that you control your rocket or your done or whatever by simulating the desired results and using inverse kinematics to calculate all of the changes that must be made in order to correct the simulation, and then you apply those changes to the reality. The trick is that you need a critical amount of the physical device to be under direct control (for instance a quadcopter can fly with 3 engines but not with 2) or you can't enact your desired changes.

I always think about this when Q says "think mirror" because they are trying to reflect changes from one copy of reality into another.

I wonder if I'm the simulation or the real person.

It's a stalling tactic. Damage control. Get everyone confused and angry and more importantly divided.

To make a chess analogy, delaying checkmate by using the last pieces on the board (hard-core leftists) to threaten the opponents positions in order to draw the game out a little longer.
