They are extremely self-absorbed people who do not realize they are self-absorbed. They spend their time trying to show how good and caring they are, but in the process, use their effort looking around for ways to show the goodness about themselves and telling others what to think do, see and feel which further demonstrates their self-absorbed arrogance, and what Rush calls, "the soft bigotry" of low expectations.
