White or black mean American. Because we are all numerous ethnicities, there is no easy way to say my ethnicity is English, French, Norwegian, German, Irish, Scottish, Cherokee, and African slave from 1600 to present. America is a melting pot. If I were all those things and Jewish, I could call myself Jew, even though I would technically still just be white, and then I wouldn't be white anymore.
