Scientists mystified, wary, as Africa avoids COVID disaster

“But there is something ‘mysterious’ going on in Africa that is puzzling scientists, said Wafaa El-Sadr, chair of global health at Columbia University. ‘Africa doesn’t have the vaccines and the resources to fight COVID-19 that they have in Europe and the U.S., but somehow they seem to be doing better,’ she said.

Fewer than 6% of people in Africa are vaccinated. For months, the WHO has described Africa as ‘one of the least affected regions in the world” in its weekly pandemic reports.’”

Texas Governor Announces New Election Audit Division for Texas Secretary of State

Officials with the office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Friday that Abbott approved a Legislative Budget Board proposal to fund a new Election Audit Division for the Texas Secretary of State’s office.

According to a news release from the office, Abbott requested $4 million for the new division, which aims to help ensure the integrity of elections. The division will conduct comprehensive forensic audits throughout the state.

In a Friday tweet (https://twitter.com/gregabbott_tx/status/1461805761751928832?s=12) Abbott commented:

“Today I approved funding to launch an Election Audit Division within the Texas Secretary of State’s office.

This audit will be the most comprehensive forensic audit in the country.

Ensuring the integrity of our elections is critical to our democracy.”

In September, the TX SOS announced the scope (https://t.me/LibertyOverwatchChannel/5610) of their 4-county audit. While it includes voter roll analysis/ clean-up and a chain of custody review, it was underwhelming in other respects. President Trump criticized the Texas SOS investigation, calling it a “weak, risk-limiting audit” in an October 1st statement (https://t.me/LibertyOverwatchChannel/5625). Nevertheless, establishing a permanent audit division is a step in the right direction for election integrity.

The Power of Redistricting: Ohio Gets Redder in New Congressional Map

Gov. Mike DeWine has signed a bill creating new Ohio congressional districts for 2022 and 2024 that, if they withstand legal challenges, likely will strengthen Republicans’ already-dominant share of the state’s congressional delegation.

The bill, approved by Republican state lawmakers earlier this week https://www.cleveland.com/news/2021/11/ohio-legislature-passes-congressional-redistricting-plan-giving-republicans-a-likely-13-2-advantage.html, favor Republicans to win 12 out of Ohio’s 15 congressional districts. Only two districts would be safely Democratic, with a third Democratic-leaning district that joins Akron and Medina County with suburban Cleveland projected as a toss-up, according to modeling from Dave’s Redistricting App, a widely used redistricting website.

Currently, Republicans hold 12 of Ohio’s 16 districts; the Buckeye State will only have 15 congressional districts after next year because the state’s population hasn’t risen as fast as other fast-growing states.

All of the facts and information I consume now come from reputable independent media. Whether that is on substack or at outlets that have proven themselves to be solid over the past 12-18 months, I go there to get background and truth. This post was triggered by a link I was reading posted on the FLCCC telegram that details the astonishing jump in female child deaths over average as the vaccine rollout happened. They’ve got a banner at the top that is asking for donations so they can continue working.

All of these places are asking for financial support. Why?

There is legitimately no way for us to do business without funding. UncoverDC has a payroll it must meet each week and other expenses, publicists, mailing list costs, web hosting, and software expenses. I see the banner messages at these outlets asking for money to stay afloat and I feel their pain. It’s really, really hard.

There’s going to come a time soon when I can’t run UncoverDC anymore and I always struggle with this because I hate asking for support. I don’t want to bother anyone. But corporate media is funded by BILLIONS of dollars and they lie to you with impunity. We need $5 a month from each of you to keep the business running, and the site ad free and full of information you need to make informed decisions. I’d love to be able to hire another reporter to take on more stories. If I had my dream, I have two more reporters in mind I’d like to bring on board.

Quite honestly, we are not breaking even each month yet. And it’s scary for us. We love doing what we are doing and we love all of you who have stepped up to support us. But there’s going to come a time very soon when we may cease to exist. I’m not kidding. I mean that. 😔

If you can make a commitment to $5 a month it would be a game changer. If everyone here did that it would be a life changer.

Good lord Anime has made it…

Rittenhouse, Anime, And Buffalo Guy: The 100% Accurate Babylon Bee News Roundup

Wow! What a week, huh? It’s time for a Weekly News Roundup! Remember: This is The Babylon Bee, so you can trust us. We’ll make a lot of stuff up, but we’ll never lie to you.

Top Stories

The Rittenhouse verdict

Many believe the jury took a week to come up with their verdict just because they were trying to stretch it out to get free lunch every day.

Rittenhouse was found not guilty, which is bizarre, because Twitter declared him guilty over a year ago. Surely this can be appealed.

Build Back Better

President Biden's Build Back Better bill just passed the House, but Republicans quickly countered with a Build Back Best bill, and they, in turn, were topped by AOC's proposal of a Build Back Bestester bill.

QAnon Shaman Sentenced

The fabled QAnon Shaman (the guy with the buffalo hat), who came within a hair of overthrowing the entire United States government on Jan 6th, was sentenced to a reasonable punishment of 500 years hard labor in the Spice Mines of Kessel.

Reliable sources have claimed that the whole Jan 6th thing was just a distraction to allow Nicolas Cage to break into the Capitol and steal the treasure hidden beneath.

Politics

Presidential Approval

Analysts believe Biden's approval rating keeps getting lower as he gets older, which is really bad news, as he's really old and got even older this week. Experts believe if he doesn’t reverse this trend, things could get bad for him by 2024.

Kamala Harris rates even lower than him, though, so Biden has started having her stand next to him to make him look more popular in comparison. He also has Bernie Sanders stand near him to make him look less of a socialist and younger.

Gosar

Representative Paul Gosar shared an anime video that depicted him violently attacking AOC, the world’s smartest socialist. He was immediately censured for being a weirdo who watches anime.

World

Nothing important happened outside the U.S. this week.

Business

Inflation

Inflation continues to grow, but the government has a plan: spend trillions of dollars.

The Biden administration is currently working on a theory that if you just deluged a fire with enough gasoline fast enough, you’d actually smother the fire. Who knows? It might work!

Inflation isn’t really a problem, the experts are telling us, claiming that not being able to afford groceries is good for building character.

Health

Health officials say there is still a pandemic ongoing, so be on the lookout for the coronavirus. If you see a virus that’s round and has a bunch of little stubby things on it, that’s the coronavirus; don’t touch it. Any other virus is safe.

Entertainment

There’s a new Ghostbusters movie out, and they've learned from their mistake with the 2016 all-female one, so they've made sure there are no women in this one. Women aren’t even allowed to go see it. Better safe than sorry.

Netflix announced huge numbers on their movie Red Notice starring Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson, and Gal Gadot (sister of Guy Gadot), who are all delightful. Like most streaming movies these days, though, it's like that Doctor Who alien where you forget about it as soon as you stop looking at it. We can't even remember it existed at this point. What were we talking about again?

Sports

(We'll do our best here, but we don’t really know much about sports, so please be kind if we get a sports ball term wrong.)

The head of the Women’s Tennis Association has sent a demand to the Chinese government that missing tennis player Peng Shuai be accounted for, becoming the first sports organization to stand up to China. This proves that the manliest, toughest sport is women’s tennis.

Aaron Rogers played last weekend despite not being vaccinated, and everyone who was at the stadium Sunday is now dead. It also means the game was declared a tie like you sometimes get in dumb sports like soccer.

Weather

It got colder this week. Does that mean global warming is ending? Scientists seem to think so. If nothing reverses this trend, by next July we could be in a new ice age.

Science/Tech

SpaceX launched another rocket. Three more, and they should finish exploring all of space. After that, Elon Musk plans to explore North Dakota.

We saw more stuff about NFTs this week, but we still don’t understand what they are. If you can explain them to me, please don’t.

Religion

God remained unchanged this week. Cool!

What’s Wrong with Society This Week

Superhero movies. Just stop. No more. For goodness sake.

Miscellaneous

There's a cat outside. Looks lost. Anyway, if you’re missing a cat, we may have seen it.

Prosecutors Find Mail-In Jury Votes At 3AM, Rittenhouse Now Guilty

KENOSHA, WI—In a stunning reversal, Kyle Rittenhouse awoke this morning to discover that he had been found guilty after all.

Prosecutors explained that during the night, they had found dozens of mail-in jury votes declaring the defendant guilty on all counts. Apparently, boxes of these mail-in votes arrived in a truck at the courthouse around 3:00 am.

Attorneys for Mr. Rittenhouse were dumbfounded as to how such a thing could have happened, raising questions as to the validity of mail-in jury voting. They stated: “We’ve never heard of this. This isn’t part of the legal system. Where did these votes even come from?”

"How DARE you question the sanctity of our criminal justice system!" cried the prosecuting attorneys. "There is no justice until EVERY vote is counted!"

Prosecutors then explained that it was a new COVID measure they had just instituted. “But given how well it’s worked out,” they said, “we’re planning on making it permanent.”

Has third Covid jab farce landed hundreds of vulnerable Britons in intensive care? Unusually high admissions of patients with weakened immune systems is blamed on botched booster rollout

Weekly ICU admissions of most vulnerable patients have risen by 50% recently

One in 28 patients in intensive care have conditions affecting immune system

Rise blamed by campaigners on the botched rollout of a third vaccine dose

Fears some at-risk patients may have lost their lives to Covid because they did not get the vital third jab in time

Hundreds of patients most at risk from Covid-19 may have ended up dangerously ill with the virus because of NHS vaccine blunders, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

Weekly admissions to intensive care units (ICUs) of some of the most vulnerable patients have risen by 50 per cent in the past two months across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

This hugely disproportionate rise – compared with the rise in normal ICU admissions – has been blamed by campaigners and experts on the botched rollout of a third vaccine dose.

Currently, at least one in 28 patients in intensive care have conditions affecting the immune system, which means two doses of the Covid vaccine offer inadequate protection from infection.

Now experts fear some at-risk patients may have lost their lives to Covid because they did not get the vital third jab when the Government promised.

Over the past two months The Mail on Sunday has published a number of reports warning of the major logistical failures that meant hundreds of thousands of the UK’s most vulnerable people – those with weakened immune systems caused by conditions such as blood cancer or who have had organ transplants – couldn’t get their third dose.

Known as a third ‘primary’ dose, it should be given to these patients eight weeks after their second dose, as many will have responded poorly to the first two jabs and do not have the necessary antibodies to fight off Covid.

Boosters, in contrast, need to be given about six months after the second injection, and top-up protection for the general public.

Recent studies show more than half of patients who don’t produce protective antibodies after two jabs do after a third dose eight to 12 weeks later.

In September, the Government pledged that up to 500,000 people with weakened immune systems would get their third dose by October 11.
