3rd shift is physically stressful. Physical stress translates to mental stress. Protein helps handle stress. Eat more protein, like 2 eggs a day or protein shakes. Even ice cream has a lot of protein and it's fun.

You need some downtime to sort this out and get your head back in the right place. It is Thanksgiving week, you should get a day or 2 off. Ask for it. Aim for that now, do it this week.

Start shopping around job websites for 1st or 2nd shift work. Discover what is out there.

You want to change. It takes 4 weeks to change your habits, so your first milestone is 4 weeks. Habit is your friend or your enemy. Addiction is a wrong habit. Breaking it is the same as breaking any other habit, changing your routine to something better.

Now you have to find the motivation to change.

Changing your job is a great start because it is considered a major life change. When you do a major change you can slip anything else you want to change in, because major changes interrupt all your habits. For instance, if you move, quit smoking at the same time.

Stop hanging out with the people you get your shit from. You may have to change your friends who pull you back into your current situation.

Start by making a list of what you want to be different. Work on the list until you have enough details to do some of it. Research it. Pick things you can do, don't take on too much. Small mistakes are easier to track and to correct. Prioritize and go. Every night, list what you are going to do tomorrow, just that day. Check off your list as you get it done. Every night, review what you did, what you missed and why. Change your plans as needed. The plan isn't the thing, the goal is. Check your progress. Define your goal and steps more accurately as you get nearer. If you aren't making progress try another goal. Appreciate the change in yourself that disciplined you to succeed. Rinse. Repeat. Doesn't hurt to use other people's schedules to improve yourself, like going to school and getting on a certificate schedule or degree course plan.

Don't be too hard on yourself. The world is full of assholes who will take care of that.

Enjoy the ride.
