With French support, Egypt killed hundreds of civilians in 'counterterror' op, leaked documents show
Disclose TV has obtained hundreds of official documents revealing a secret French-Egyptian military intelligence operation used to target and kill civilians accused of smuggling across the Libyan border.
The joint military operation, codenamed "Sirli", was conducted from a military base inside the town of Marsa Matruh on Egypt's northern coast.
Despite ostensibly being set up to identify terrorist threats coming from Libya across the Western desert, a source from inside the military base revealed several hundred classified documents illustrating the abuses which took place under the cover of this intelligence mission.
On one occasion a French surveillance plane transmitted the location of a convoy of pick-up trucks to the Egyptian air force and returned 43 minutes later to see one of the vehicles on fire.
The next day a French military intelligence liaison officer said: "The strike was very probably perpetrated by the Egyptian air force Cessna 208."
"The presence of the armed Cessna alone testifies to the will of the Egyptian air force to use the [supplied] information for repressive ends against local traffic."
The report commented: "By supplying the information about their location, the French state had in effect made itself an accomplice of arbitrary executions."
Between 2016 and 2018 the French forces may have been involved in at least 19 bombings of civilians, destroying several vehicles, and killing several hundred people.
One year after the operations began, in 2017, France's military director wrote a classified report to France's chief of staff of the armed forces noting that most of the pick-up trucks localised in the Egyptian desert were not connected with terrorist groups: "The itineraries of the traffic are principally lined to 'simple' Bedouin professional smuggling."
"They show how this military cooperation exercise, kept secret from the public, was diverted from its original mission, that of reconnaissance of terrorist activity, in favour of a campaign of arbitrary executions," Disclose TV said in their report.
"It involved state crimes about which the French presidential office was kept constantly informed, but which took no action," it continued, adding that French military staff regularly told their superiors about the abuse of information, but it was ignored.
The French government did not reply to MEMO's request for comment.

Child rapist is elected as MAYOR in South Africa – with convicted fraudster voted in as his deputy
A municipality in South Africa has shocked the nation by electing a convicted child rapist as its mayor and a convicted fraudster as its deputy mayor.
Jeffrey Donson was found guilty of statutory rape and indecent assault and jailed while mayor of the Western Cape's Kannaland Municipality in 2008 but has been re-elected back into office.
Werner Meshoa was elected as deputy mayor despite being convicted of fraud and obstruction of justice during a spell as speaker.
The election of both to high office has caused a storm of outrage across South Africa from gender-based violence groups to charities working with child rape victims.
Mayor Donson was handed just five years behind bars for rape but appealed to the Western Cape High Court where his conviction was not overturned but his sentence reduced.
For the sex attack of a minor, Judge Lee Bozalek wholly suspended the prison term and instead fined him £1,000 and put him on a sex offenders rehab programme.
The two men now run the municipality on the Garden Route in Western Province after being voted in by 45 per cent of the 25,000 electorate.
The African National Congress who received 21 per cent of the vote backed the pair by agreeing a coalition with their party, The Independent Civic Organisation of South Africa (ICOSA).
In June Meshoa was sentenced for fraud to 18 months jail or a £300 fine and a suspended four-year prison sentence for obstructing justice and 36 months house arrest.
It was later revealed that Meshoa was sacked from his position as a teacher in 2012 for serious sexual misconduct with a pupil but the matter was not reported to the police.
Their convictions for child rape and fraud were public knowledge but the electorate still voted them into office with the African National Congress backing their election.
Despite the seriousness of the offences committed by both men, ICOSA chiefs refused to boot them out, saying they could only be forced out if they served a year in prison.

Trump’s new social media platform titled “Truth Social” (sort of reminiscent of Pravda, don’t you think?) is backed by a venture capitalist that operates a Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) based in Wuhan, China.

Trump’s rhetoric at the end of his presidency was so threatening, that the top US military general, Mark Milley called his counterpart to calm Chinese fears.
SPACs are “special purpose acquisition companies” – hot but risky new Wall Street financing vehicles also known as blank-check companies – that raise funds on the public financial markets and then seek out existing businesses to acquire.
“No matter your politics this stock will rip … I’ll start my pick up at a meager 100 shares and then add to my position on dips,” a Reddit message board user wrote.
SPACs accounted for half of the newly listed public companies in the US in 2020 and, in the first quarter of 2021, there were 295 new SPACs formed raising a record $96bn, according to the Harvard Business Review.
Saying he was creating the site “to stand up to the tyranny of big tech”, Trump announced on October 20 that Truth Social, which has yet to launch, would be opened to invited guests in November and all users in early 2022.
China is the entity that Trump declared was the problem for the united States, but he’s getting the funds to push his social media platform out from China, and on top of that straight out of Wuhan? Give me a break! You can’t make this stuff up!

12th Cuomo accuser backed by bombshell state Assembly report
The New York state Assembly’s damning report on sexual harassment allegations against disgraced ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s corroborates claims by a 12th accuser who said he forcibly kissed her while touring her flood-damaged home and then sent her signed photos of the visit.
Sherry Vill, 55, publicly accused Cuomo in March of “manhandling” her when he visited Greece, just outside Rochester, in 2017 after the area was ravaged by floods.
The legislative report released Monday lists the married mother of three as one of Cuomo’s accusers for the first time.
Vill was interviewed by investigators retained by New York state Attorney General Letitia James earlier this year, but her allegations were not detailed in that report, which was released in August and only listed 11 accusers.
According to the legislative report released Monday, Cuomo grabbed Vill’s hand and kissed her on both cheeks without her consent when she was talking to the then-governor about the state of her flood-damaged home.
Vill said Cuomo told her she was beautiful as they were walking out of her home before later grabbing her hand and kissing her again without consent.
According to the report, the mother told investigators she “felt uncomfortable.”
Following Cuomo’s visit, Vill said, she received a phone call from someone in the governor’s office inviting her to attend one of his future events.
She noted that none of her family members or neighbors who had also met Cuomo during the flood tour received an invite.
“Ms. Vill also later received signed photos from the then-Governor’s visit; neither her family members nor her neighbors received photographs either,” the report said.
When Vill first came forward with her allegations in March, she described the encounter as “so strange and inappropriate” — and added that it still made her nervous because of his power.
“I am still afraid of him, but I am no longer willing to remain silent,” she said at a press conference at the time.
Cuomo resigned in August to avoid a likely impeachment trial after the James report revealed he had sexually harassed at least 11 women in violation of state and federal law.
The Assembly investigators said they reviewed that investigation as part of their own probe, which ultimately found “overwhelming evidence” that Cuomo engaged in sexual harassment.
Cuomo has denied that he ever intended to touch anyone inappropriately and said he never meant to make anyone uncomfortable with sexual remarks.
He has demanded that Assembly investigators hand over the evidence they have against him, but Judiciary Committee members have said Cuomo isn’t entitled to it.

Plane Crash in Northwest Nebraska Kills Pilot, 2 Passengers
CHADRON, Neb.—Three people died Sunday in a plane crash in northwest Nebraska.
The pilot and two passengers were found dead after the plane went down near Chadron, Nebraska, the Star-Herald reported.
Witnesses called police to report seeing a fireball or explosion outside of town, according to a release from the Dawes County Attorney’s Office.
First responders found the small plane in a rural area near Chadron Municipal Airport.
County officials have not yet released the names of the three who died.
