…U.S. prosecutors chose not to bring charges in connection with Virginia Giuffre, who says Epstein and Maxwell flew her around the world when she was 17 and 18 for sexual encounters with billionaires, politicians, royals and heads of state.

She isn't expected to be called as a witness in Maxwell's trial, either.

Prosecutors will focus instead on four other women who say they were recruited by Maxwell as teenagers to be abused by Epstein. None has alleged the type of abuse by powerful international figures that Giuffre has detailed in interviews and court filings…

Maxwell To Challenge Accusers, Seek Distance From Epstein At Sex Abuse Trial

NEW YORK (Reuters) – British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell’s defense in her sex abuse trial will focus on undermining her accusers and distancing her from Jeffrey Epstein, the financier for whom she is charged with recruiting underage girls, according to legal experts and court filings.

In what is viewed by some legal experts as a risky strategy in the post-#MeToo era, Maxwell’s lawyers will question the credibility of four women who say she groomed them as teenagers for Epstein to abuse from the 1990s to the early 2000s, arguing that their memories are faulty or that they are lying because of financial incentives. They have said in a court filing that one woman was motivated by a “desire for cash.”

Epstein died by suicide at 66 in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex abuse charges.

“[Maxwell’s lawyers] want to say the real villain is no longer around to be prosecuted, so they’re using her as a scapegoat,” said Laurie Levenson, a professor at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles.

Jury selection is underway in Manhattan federal court for Maxwell’s trial, with opening statements scheduled for Nov. 29…

GHISLAINE MAXWELL’S HOUSEHOLD APPEALS TO UN FOR HER LAUNCH FROM JAIL

Ghislaine Maxwell’s siblings are actually petitioning the United Nations in a bid to get the notorious accused sex-trafficker launched from jail pending trial — after at the very least 4 failed bail purposes.

The petition, submitted Monday to the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, was filed by worldwide felony legal professionals François Zimeray and Jessica Finelle on behalf of Maxwell’s three sisters and three brothers, in keeping with a duplicate offered to The Post.

The legal professionals argue that Maxwell’s “abnormally rigorous” lock-up situations on the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn are horrid, and thus illegal and discriminatory.

The petition seeks for the UN to name on the US authorities to launch Maxwell pending trial and to induce an impartial investigation into her “arbitrary detention.”…
