Brian Laundrie suicide: Gabby Petito’s former fiancé died of gunshot wound to the head, family attorney says

Brian Laundrie, who made headlines as a person of interest in the disappearance of his fiancée Gabby Petito, died of gunshot wound to the head, according to a statement from the Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino.

Autopsy results confirm the manner of death is suicide, Brian Entin, a reporter for the Miami-based NewsNation Now tweeted on Tuesday.

…closure to both families."

— Brian Entin (@BrianEntin) November 23, 2021

“Chris and Roberta Laundrie have been informed the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death was suicide. Chris and Roberta are still mourning the loss of their son and are hopeful that these findings bring closure to both families,” Bertolino said in a statement, according to Entin.

Laundrie was found dead in Florida nature preserve, the FBI confirmed in late October, after running away from home.

Laundrie returned to his family’s home in Florida without Petito in September after the couple was traveling together on a cross-country road trip. The case sparked national interest and authorities later found Petito’s body in Wyoming. A corner later confirmed she died by strangulation in a homicide.

The right to international travel and the right to a U.S. passport

In late 2015, as we noted at the time, Congress voted — as part of an unrelated surface transportation bill — to authorize the Department of State to revoke and/or refuse to issue a U.S. passport to anyone against whom the IRS has assessed an administrative lien or levy (even in the absence of any judicial action) for $50,000 or more in tax debt.

This week, the first appellate court to review this law upheld it as Constitutional, although on limited grounds. In its “per curiam” opinion in Maehr v. Department of State, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a decision by a U.S. District Court judge in Colorado dismissing a lawsuit by Jeffrey T. Maehr, one of almost half a million people who have been deemed subject to revocation or non-issuance of U.S. passports, and thus prohibited from legally leaving (or returning to) the U.S., for alleged tax debts.

Two judges wrote opinions in support of the “per curiam” decision, each joined in different parts by the third member of the three-judge panel.

All three judges found (wrongly, we think) that, although there is some sort of “right” to international travel by U.S. citizens, it is not such a “fundamental” right as to make restrictions on the exercise of the right to travel be subject to to what courts call “strict scrutiny”.

University of Wisconsin Student Association Executives call Rittenhouse verdict 'racist'

"Black and Brown people across this country should not be targeted and subjected to excessive brutality and violence," they wrote.

Following Friday's not guilty verdict reached in the Rittenhouse trial, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL) Student Association Executives strongly condemned the verdict reached by the jury after four days of deliberations.

"Now and in the future, University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL) Student Association Executives will unequivocally denounce white nationalism and hate-filled violence fully and without hesitation," a press release from the school states, according to WisPolitics.

"Unfortunately, we have seen far too many hate-fueled attacks on communities of color throughout our state and the rest of the nation. We stand in stark opposition to white nationalism and the killings that follow it."

Lance Gooden Spills the Beans On Non-Profit Sponsored Operation to Move Migrants into the US

On November 15, 2021, Texas Congressman Lance Gooden revealed that there is a secret operation non-profits are running to house and transport migrants within the United States.. In part of this operation, migrants were provided a packet that instructs them on how to navigate and assimilate into the country.

Gooden spilled the beans on this shocking development during his appearance on “Fox and Friends”. According to Gooden’s account of the situation, a whistleblower from San Diego contacted him and sent him information about the non-profit groups involved in this case.

Gooden subsequently flew out to and discovered abandoned hotels in the California city. These hotels were used as migrant shelters. Some of the hotels he mentioned were The Four Points by Sheraton [San Diego], a Wyndham and a Ramada Inn.

The Plan To Tax Away Your 2A Rights

With gun control legislation stalled in Congress, the Left is looking for new ways to target our Second Amendment rights, and Forbes contributer Roxanne Bland thinks she’s found the answer: use the tax code to curtail the exercise of our right to keep and bear arms.

Now, Bland isn’t exactly treading on unexplored ground here. There are already several localities that have imposed taxes on the purchase of firearms and ammunition, including the city of Seattle and Cook County, Illinois, but Bland is proposing something much bigger and broader than a local sales tax increase.

The Second Amendment does not bar states and localities from imposing taxes on firearms and ammunition, provided the tax is not so high as to put gun ownership out of the reach of the ordinary consumer, thereby burdening gun ownership and infringing on the rights contemplated by the Second Amendment.

Yet there is, or should be, more effort put into the goal of defraying the costs of gun violence. Taxing firearms at a flat rate may help states and localities cope with the astronomical healthcare expenses for gunshot victims, but it would probably not do much to reduce gun violence.

For that, what is needed is a change in the behavior of gun owners. Gun control regulation could influence behavior, but taking that route is akin to attempting to stay on the back of an angry bull. The easier and probably more effective way to change behavior is through a carefully crafted tax structure.

Blinken Warns Russia Over Mercenaries In Mali

Russia has frequently used mercenaries in Africa, the Middle East, and Ukraine, as well as other areas, to project power with plausible deniability. The ‘Wagner Group’ is the unit of choice, run by ‘Putin’s chef’, Yevgeny Prigozhin.

U.S. Secretary of State* Tony Blinken today warned the Russian Federation about using commercial forces to destabilized the nation of Mali.

Three journalists hired by Kremlin-nemisis Mikhail Khodorkovsky were murdered in the Central African Republic in 2018 attempting to make a film about Wagner’s activities in-country.

On a visit to Senegal, Blinken said that the United States was “contributing to efforts with Mali and partners in support of stability” in the war-ravaged country, reported The Moscow Times.

“I would only add that I think it would be especially unfortunate if outside actors engage in making things even more difficult and more complicated, and I’m thinking in particular of the Wagner group,” he said.
