Start with Linux Mint or Manjaro, I like Manjaro better.

Github was also going to employ a Code of Conduct to make sure people didn't submit "Homophobic/Racist/Sexist code" or some hilariously dumb shit. It's almost like something you would read out of the Babylonian Bee.
That Distro is designed for Penetration Testing and Red/Blue Teaming. If you're not going to be doing any hacking or Security analysis type shit then there will be hundreds of programs on there that you will never use, which is just bloat.
