It’s referring to priorities. There’s nothing wrong with money or having a lot of it per se, but if money is your top priority in life, then it’s sinful. A lot of people who become wealthy put their trust in their $, which is fleeting and temporary and can be lost or taken away, instead of God. When you put $ ahead of God you sin. When people put their trust and hope in their $, and something happens (e.g. they lose it all or get very sick or something happens to a dear loved one), they get a rude awakening that the $ they put their trust in is actually quite useless.
