BIG

What is a Basic Income Guarantee?

The Basic Income Guarantee (BIG) is a government ensured guarantee that no oneโ€™s income will fall below the level necessary to meet their most basic needs for any reason.

USBIG was founded in December 1999 by Fred Block of University of California-Davis, Charles M. A. Clark of St. Johnโ€™s University, Pamela Donovan of the City University of New York, Michael Lewis of the State University of New York-Stony Brook, and Karl Widerquist, then of the Levy Economics Institute.

The USBIG Network, which was for almost two decades an informal group, has now incorporated as USBIG, Inc., a non-profit 501c3 corporation. It remains an all-volunteer organization, with no paid employees.

NICHOLAS SANDMANN: The media came for me as it came to Rittenhouse, but should he sue?

The similarities between me and Kyle Rittenhouse are impossible to draw.

Kyle was 17 years old when he became a popular name after that horrific tragedy in Kenosha.

I was 16 when I jumped into a national conversation with a video of an encounter with a Native American activist on the stairs at the Lincoln Memorial.

Kyle was almost immediately called a โ€œwhite supremacistโ€ and a โ€œdomestic terrorist.โ€

For many, my red MAGA hat clearly meant that I was a racist.
