Jack Dorsey steps down as Twitter CEO

Jack Dorsey is stepping down as CEO of Twitter, the company he co-founded in 2006, and will be replaced by the company's CTO, Parag Agrawal, Dorsey and the social platform said on Monday.

In a statement on his exit from Twitter, Dorsey listed a variety of reasons he was leaving, primarily saying he does not want to limit the company's potential by having it be "founder-led." He also expressed support for Agrawal and said he would continue to serve on the board until "May-ish" to help the new CEO, as well as a new board chair.

Dorsey said his exit was effective immediately.

The announcement that Dorsey would be replaced came shortly after a CNBC report earlier Monday cited sources saying he would be stepping down in the coming days. Separate reports citing sources later said Dorsey's exit had been planned since last year, and his replacement had already been chosen.

Nasdaq quickly suspended trading Twitter stock after the company's value shot up approximately 10% at the reports of Dorsey stepping down.

Dorsey said the resignation was his decision alone, though he was reportedly nearly removed from his position as CEO last year after investors grew concerned with his dual CEO roles with Twitter and Square. At the time, Dorsey reached a deal to remain in his position.

Agrawal has served as CTO with Twitter since 2017 and been with the company for over 10 years. The new chairman, Bret Taylor, will be replacing Patrick Pichette, who will continue to serve on the board.

In a statement on his new position as CEO, Agrawal said he is "honored" and "humbled" to take up the role. Taylor also released a statement in which he praised Dorsey for returning to the CEO role in 2015 and turning the "company around at the most critical time."

Dr. Angelique Coetzee, chairwoman of the South African Medical Association, affirmed Monday that while the omicron variant appears to spread more quickly than earlier strains, its symptoms appear to be less severe, meaning the new strain - while more infectious - might also prove less deadly than the delta strain, which is the most dominant COVID strain on the planet right now.

Omicron patients’ symptoms were “so different and so mild from those I had treated before.”

Meanwhile, the G-7 - at the UK's urging - is exhorting its members to take bold action to make sure the variant doesn't become a threat.

Plan to battle future pandemics in the making by WHO members

World Health Organization (WHO) members have agreed to create an international treaty governing future pandemic prevention and response as they meet in Geneva this week.

The draft resolution kick-starting the treaty process was secured during talks over the weekend and is now expected to be formalized during a three-day members meeting in Geneva starting Monday.

If formalized, the resolution would pave the way to establishing an intergovernmental body tasked with drafting and negotiating the accord, which could be ready by May 2024. The agreement would focus on pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response.

It is expected to cover issues including sharing data on genome sequences of any emerging viruses, as well as any potential vaccines and drugs arising from their research.

“Covid-19 has exposed and exacerbated fundamental weaknesses in the global architecture for pandemic preparedness and response,” WHO director-general, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, told the World Health Assembly – the WHO’s decision-making body consisting of all 194 member states – on Monday.

“Voluntary mechanisms have not solved these challenges,” he said, adding that “a legally binding agreement between nations” would be “the best way” to address crises like the Covid-19 pandemic.

It’s not perfect, and it’s not a panacea. It takes compromise – no one gets everything they want – but that’s better than so many missing out on what they need.

The WHO director-general also expressed his hope that the future accord would be able to provide “better governance” and “better financing” for global health security.

The upcoming decision is a result of a compromise between two groups of WHO member states. The EU together with the UK advocated for a legally-binding treaty, while the US, Brazil and India among others were reluctant to support this idea. Eventually, the groups managed to find a satisfactory solution, a European diplomat told Reuters on Sunday.

Judge Blocks “Sensational and Impure” Information from Media in Ghislaine Maxwell’s Case – Same Judge Was Nominated by Schumer and Biden Last Week to US Court of Appeals

On Wednesday, Nov. 17, Joe Biden nominated a second lesbian, Alison Nathan, to serve on the Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.

According to The Dallas Voice, Nathan has been presiding over the trial of sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein’s associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, on sex trafficking charges. Reuters reported that the trial requires Nathan to question more than 200 prospective jurors.

Nathan is married to a New York University Law School professor, Meg Satterthwaite. Senator Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., recommended Nathan for the nomination.

United States District Judge Alison Nathan was appointed to the federal bench by former President Barack Obama in 2011. Prior to serving as a federal judge, she clerked for the late Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, worked as counsel for the attorney general of New York and was an associate White House counsel and special assistant for Obama.

In February Judge Nathan granted Ghislaine Maxwell’s request to redact and hide ‘sensational and impure’ information from the public during the trial.

Vaccine efficacy for Omicron has likely dropped: Moderna CEO

Vaccine efficacy for the “highly contagious” Omicron variant has likely dropped — but the full data won’t be available for at least two weeks, Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel warned on Monday.

“We need to wait for the data to see if it’s true and how much it is going down,” the drugmaker boss told CNBC’s “Squawk Box.”

Omicron already appears to be “much more infectious” than the Delta variant and is on track to become the most dominant strain in southern Africa in a matter of weeks, according to Bancel.

“It took four months for Delta variant to overtake Beta variant. Omicron is overtaking Delta in South Africa in a few weeks,” he said.

“We believe this virus is highly contagious. We need to get more data to confirm this but it seems to be much more infectious than Delta, which is problematic.”

Bancel added, “[There is] a lot of mutations in the spike protein, which is important for the vaccine. I don’t believe many people would have predicted such a big jump in evolution in one variant.”

The drugmaker predicted that the majority of countries with direct flights from southern Africa within the last seven to 10 days would already have Omicron cases — even if they haven’t been detected yet.

He added that the measures taken by some countries, including the US, to ban flights from the eight countries in that region could “slow down the progress of the virus while we figure out the efficacy of the vaccine.”

“I think those actions can save a lot of lives down the road,” Bancel said.

Over the weekend, the list of countries that have spotted the new variant in travelers grew and the World Health Organization labeled it a “variant of concern,” which is the most serious designation of a COVID-19 variant.

Health authorities are rushing to determine if the Omicron variant is more transmissible — or if infection causes more serious illness — than other strains.

The variant appears to have a high number of mutations — about 30 — in the coronavirus’ spike protein, which could affect how easily it spreads to people.

Some experts have already said that could mean that vaccine makers may have to adapt their products at some point.

Bancel estimated Monday it could take 60 to 90 days for an Omicon-specific vaccine to be tweaked and approved by drug regulators.

BARR: Biden’s ‘Infrastructure’ Bill Contains Backdoor ‘Kill Switch’ For Cars

Buried deep within the massive infrastructure legislation recently signed by President Joe Biden is a little-noticed “safety” measure that will take effect in five years. Marketed to Congress as a benign tool to help prevent drunk driving, the measure will mandate that automobile manufacturers build into every car what amounts to a “vehicle kill switch.”

As has become standard for legislative mandates passed by Congress, this measure is disturbingly short on details. What we do know is that the “safety” device must “passively monitor the performance of a driver of a motor vehicle to accurately identify whether that driver may be impaired.”

Everything about this mandatory measure should set off red flares.

First, use of the word “passively” suggests the system will always be on and constantly monitoring the vehicle. Secondly, the system must connect to the vehicle’s operational controls, so as to disable the vehicle either before driving or during, when impairment is detected. Thirdly, it will be an “open” system, or at least one with a backdoor, meaning authorized (or unauthorized) third-parties can remotely access the system’s data at any time.

This is a privacy disaster in the making, and the fact that the provision made it through the Congress reveals — yet again — how little its members care about the privacy of their constituents.

The lack of ultimate control over one’s vehicle presents numerous and extremely serious safety issues; issues that should have been obvious to Members of Congress before they voted on the measure.

For example, what if a driver is not drunk, but sleepy, and the car forces itself to the side of the road before the driver can find a safe place to pull over and rest? Considering that there are no realistic mechanisms to immediately challenge or stop the car from being disabled, drivers will be forced into dangerous situations without their consent or control.

The choice as to whether a vehicle can or cannot be driven — for vehicles built after 2026 — will rest in the hands of an algorithm over which the car’s owner or driver have neither knowledge nor control.

If that is not reason enough for concern, there are serious legal issues with this mandate. Other vehicle-related enforcement methods used by the Nanny State, such as traffic cameras and license plate readers, have long presented constitutional problems; notably with the 5th Amendment’s right to not self-incriminate, and the 6th Amendment’s right to face one’s accuser.

WashPost: The Transgender Industry Is Recklessly Endangering Kids

The growing transgenderization of American children is unscientific, unsupervised, and out of control, according to an op-ed prominently published Sunday by the Washington Post.

“The treatment pushed by activists, recommended by some providers and taught in many training workshops is to affirm [teenagers’ claims of transgender identity] without question,” says the op-ed by two loud advocates of the transgender ideology, psychologist Laura Edwards-Leeper, and Erica Anderson, who says she is transgender.

“We may be harming some of the young people we strive to support — people who may not be prepared for the gender transitions they are being rushed into,” the two authors wrote.

The article was given a very prominent position — three-quarters of the first page in the Washington Post‘s prestigious Outlook section on Sunday, November 28.

The top-level support for the article suggests the Post‘s editors are alarmed at the growing damage from transgenderism — even as they also publish a flood of relentlessly pro-transgender articles in other parts of the newspaper.

The growing damage has been carefully covered by Breitbart News for at least five years. On November 27, for example, Breitbart News reported Swedish pro-transgender doctors caused serious injuries to many kids: “It’s chemical castration. It can affect mental health in a way that you didn’t think of and didn’t want.”

That coverage has helped ordinary Americans debate the issue, and to pass laws in state legislatures that protect K-12 children from transgenderism in school sports.

But elitist progressives in the media, in activist groups, and in universities have suppressed the scientific, medical and political debate because of their contempt for ordinary Americans.

The Post‘s surprising approval of the critical op-ed by two pro-transgender activists may allow progressives to admit the damage being caused to their own children. The two authors wrote:

The constituency of agitated parents who feel excluded is also growing rapidly. These are not conservative evangelicals who don’t believe trans people exist or deserve treatment. They’re usually progressive, educated, loving people who all say, If our kid is really trans, we’ll fully support them. The incoming left-wing coalition government in Germany is set to push for a so-called ‘United States of Europe’ through the creation of a federal EU superstate, confirming concerns long expressed by Brexiteers.

Germany’s incoming Europhile left-wing government has begun a push for a federalized European Union superstate and the creation of what has been unofficially dubbed the “United States of Europe”.

The campaign for the creation of the superstate was enshrined in the coalition agreement between the three soon-to-be ruling parties, the Social Democrats (SPD), the Free Femocrats (FPD), and the Greens, according to a report by the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, the German language paper of record in Switzerland.

The agreement outlines the coalition’s commitment to supporting the “necessary treaty changes” needed to “lead developments to a European federal state”. This is something Germany clearly sees itself as being responsible for doing, with the document nodding “our special responsibility” for “the EU as a whole” as the bloc’s “largest member state”.

It also voices the coalition’s support for trans-national candidate lists for European elections, which would allow EU citizens to vote for candidates outside their member state. Significantly, the document calls for an increase of “Europe’s strategic sovereignty… this means establishing one’s own ability to act in a global context and being less dependent and vulnerable in important strategic areas”, an oblique reference to an emerging single European foreign policy and an EU military.

Responding to the plans, the head of the pro-leave Reform UK party, Richard Tice wrote on Sunday: “Thank God Brexit happened when it did, as new German leaders want deeper EU federal state,” calling the development “everything we feared”.

The leader of the German Green Party and the incoming foreign minister, Annalena Baerbock will reportedly be responsible for spearheading the campaign, according to The Telegraph.

“A strong German foreign policy can only be a European one,” said Baerbock.

Baerbock, being the leader of Germany’s most pro-EU party, also took a much harder line on the likes of Hungary and Poland during the televised debates, a stance that’s reflected in the coalition’s promise to go after states accused of flaunting EU laws.

The appointment has seen widescale criticism, with even prominent leftist politician Oskar Lafontaine saying last week that Baerbock’s appointment to the position would be a “catastrophe”.

Pentagon threatens to “decertify” the Oklahoma National Guard if commander doesn’t reverse his ban on COVID vaccine mandate

The Defense Department is apparently threatening to sort of ‘decertify’ the Oklahoma National Guard after its commander, on approval of the state commander-in-chief, Gov. Kenny Stitt, issued an order instructing his troops they will not be required to comply with Joe Biden’s unconstitutional COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

The Oklahoman on Nov. 12 provided some background on the situation:

In one of his first acts as the head of the Oklahoma National Guard, new Adjutant General Thomas Mancino updated the guard’s COVID-19 vaccine policy.

In a memo issued Thursday, Mancino ordered that no members of the Oklahoma National Guard be required to take a COVID-19 vaccine.

The memo obtained by The Oklahoman also notes “no negative administrative or legal action will be taken” against guard members who refuse the COVID-19 vaccine.

The memo came just one day after Gov. Kevin Stitt appointed Mancino to replace former Adjutant General Michael Thompson, who had served in that role since 2017.

“The clarified policy on COVID vaccinations for Oklahoma Army and Air National Guardsmen reflects the governor’s ability to assert his command authority over the men and women of the Oklahoma National Guard while they are within the state’s borders,” Lt. Col. Geoff Legler, a spokesman for the Oklahoma Guard, told the paper.

“At a time when our adversaries continue to increase their quantitative and qualitative advantage against our forces, we should seek to ensure that no policy, even unintentionally, hinders military readiness,” Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe, the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, wrote to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. He added that the mandate should be immediately revoked so as to not cause “irrevocable damage to our national security.”

In a recent address, Flynn voiced his concern that he believes Democrats are purposely angling to destroy our economy ahead of next year’s midterm elections because they know that right now Republicans are cruising to historic wins and the left desperately wants to remain in power to complete Obama’s ‘fundamental transformation’ of America.

Christensen told fellow members of parliament that Australian State Premiers are “drunk on power” and “trying to out tyrant each other.” He also noted that non-vaccinated Australians are increasingly “demonized, ostracized, and socially eradicated.”

The MP explained that totalitarian regimes responsible for the most heinous atrocities of the Twentieth Century: Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Pol Pot, didn’t get there overnight.

They used fear to control, excluded the “dirty” people (softly at first), justified the exclusion, moved to harder exclusions, and eventually eliminated people either socially or physically.

31,014 Deaths 2,890,600 Injuries Following COVID Shots in European Database of Adverse Reactions as Young, Previously Healthy People Continue to Die

The European Union database of suspected drug reaction reports is EudraVigilance, and they are now reporting 31,014 fatalities, and 2,890,600 injuries, following COVID-19 injections.

A Health Impact News subscriber from Europe reminded us that this database maintained at EudraVigilance is only for countries in Europe who are part of the European Union (EU), which comprises 27 countries.

The total number of countries in Europe is much higher, almost twice as many, numbering around 50. (There are some differences of opinion as to which countries are technically part of Europe.)

So as high as these numbers are, they do NOT reflect all of Europe. The actual number in Europe who are reported dead or injured following COVID-19 shots would be much higher than what we are reporting here.

The EudraVigilance database reports that through November 20, 2021 there are 31,014 deaths and 2,890,600 injuries reported following injections of four experimental COVID-19 shots:

US to Expel 27 Russian Diplomats in January

Expulsions related to delays in renewing visas

In a weekend interview, Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov revealed that 27 Russian diplomats are to be expelled from the United States by January 30, along with their families.

The expulsions are related to expiring visas. 24 diplomats had been expelled for the same reason in September. Officials say that there have been widespread delays in getting visas renewed.

Antonov said he views this as an effort to “squeeze” Russian workers, and cautioned that they are facing “a serious staff shortage.” The State Department said the move was not directed at Russia and was “nothing new.”

Russia’s Foreign Ministry reported that as of late October, 200 Russian diplomats were working in the United States. Maintaining those diplomats may be a challenge with the visa delays.

LUGANSK, November 29. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is violating the Package of Measures for the implementation of the Minsk agreements, the so-called Minsk-2 package, by asking the Verkhovna Rada (Ukraine’s national parliament) to approve his decision to deploy foreign troops in the country, Rodion Miroshnik, who represents the self-proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) in the political subgroup of the Contact Group on the settlement of the situation in eastern Ukraine, said on Monday.

"It is worth noting that Minsk-2 stipulates the withdrawal, not the deployment of all foreign troops! It means that there can be no foreign troops and mercenaries on Ukraine’s territory. Either for drills or for parades," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

He recalled that article 10 of the Package of Measures provides for the "withdrawal of all foreign armed units, military hardware and mercenaries from Ukraine under the OSCE’s monitoring," and Zelensky reiterated his commitment to these agreements at the latest Normandy Four (Germany, France, Ukraine, Russia) summit in Parish on December 9, 2019.

Earlier on Monday, Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill on approving his decision allowing foreign armed units to enter Ukraine to take part in international drills in 2022.

A peace settlement of the conflict in Donbass rests on the Package of Measures, known as Minsk-2, that was signed by the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine comprising senior representatives from Russia, Ukraine and the European security watchdog OSCE on February 12, 2015, after marathon 16-hour talks between the leaders of the Normandy Four nations, namely Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine. The 13-point document envisages a ceasefire between Ukrainian government forces and the people’s militias in the self-proclaimed republics in Donetsk and Lugansk and the subsequent withdrawal of heavy weapons from the line of contact. The deal also lays out a roadmap for a lasting settlement in Ukraine, including amnesty, prisoner swaps, the resumption of economic ties, local elections and constitutional reform to give more autonomy to the war-torn eastern regions.

The plan remains unimplemented to this day, largely due to Ukraine’s stance. Kiev keeps on refusing to act on the political items of the agreement. Kiev continues to avoid direct dialogue with the Donbass republics. It is reluctant to amend Ukraine’s constitution to fix Donbass’ special status and insists on being given control over the section of the border with Russia, something that is to be done only after the implementation of the political part of the agreements.

Biden Enlists Nuclear Disarmament Proponents To Study ICBM Alternatives

Pentagon contract pushes reduction in ICBMs as China, Russia modernize and increase missile capabilities

The Biden administration has enlisted two nuclear-disarmament advocates to present the Defense Department with "alternatives" to the United States' long-standing intercontinental ballistic missiles system, according to a copy of the project proposal obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

The Defense Department asked the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace to study "alternatives as they relate to options for the land-based leg of the U.S. nuclear triad" and in January submit a report to the secretary of defense, according to the project proposal.

The two Carnegie researchers leading the project, George Perkovich and James Acton, are authors of the 2009 compendium Abolishing Nuclear Weapons: A Debate, which proposes ways to reach total nuclear disarmament. Acton said in March the government should pause the ICBM replacement program and instead try to extend the life of existing missiles. He argued that technological advances could eventually "devalue silo-based ICBMs and cause future Congresses, as well as the American people, to look back with incomprehension at the decision to pursue [the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent system]."

The contract is part of the Biden administration's larger pushback effort against Congress, which has been urging the administration to modernize and replace the country's decaying, 50-year-old Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles arsenal, the land-based component of the United States' "nuclear triad." President Joe Biden last week issued a formal White House objection to a provision in the national defense spending bill that would have prohibited him from reducing the 400-missile stockpile.

"At Department of Defense's request, the Carnegie Endowment will study policy issues pertaining to the future of the land-based leg of the U.S. nuclear triad, starting with an assumption that the United States will retain ICBMs. In our research we will engage a wide spectrum of experts with different views to analyze how to ensure a robust, cost-effective nuclear deterrent while reducing the risk of nuclear war," said George Perkovich, vice president for studies at Carnegie.

The Department of Defense did not respond to a request for comment.

Under the Trump administration, the United States last year started developing a replacement system for the aging ICBMs called the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent, which is scheduled to be completed by 2029. Progressives and anti-war activists oppose the program and have called on the Biden administration to eliminate the land-based nuclear missile system completely. But defense hawks maintain that replacing the missiles is crucial for U.S. nuclear deterrence.

The researchers tasked by the Biden administration with developing ICBM alternatives will seek out a range of perspectives "from former Trump administration officials to NGO disarmament advocates" to discuss "the potential policy benefits and risks with extending the life of the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), pursuing the Ground-Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program, or other options for consideration regarding the future of the land-based leg," according to the project proposal.

The project was drafted in response to "a request from DoD," according to the proposal. Records indicate that the project is intended to help craft a public relations narrative to bolster the Biden administration's decisions on the ICBM program.

The proposal said the researchers would seek out a variety of opinions, in part to "politically validate that the administration is open to a range of perspectives as is appropriate in a democracy."

Will the Iron Dome get replenished? House lawmakers push for it

"We must ensure that the Iron Dome is equipped to protect Israel without the risk that it could be overwhelmed," a bipartisan letter to Joe Biden read.

WASHINGTON – A bipartisan group of 87 House members sent a letter on Monday to US President Joe Biden, urging him to “specifically request that Congress include supplemental funding for Israel’s Iron Dome in an appropriations bill enacted before the year’s end – including in any anomalies you may request to a new continuing resolution.” The bill to replenish Iron Dome was blocked last month in the Senate due to Sen. Rand Paul’s opposition.

The lawmakers wrote that replenishing Israel’s Iron Dome interceptors and expanding its missile-defense system is a “critical investment that will protect both Israeli and Palestinian lives and homes, as well as America’s national security interests.” They noted that their letter is coming at the heels of the looming December 3 appropriations deadline.

New Jersey Congressman Josh Gottheimer spearheaded the letter. He was joined by members from both parties, such as Elaine Luria, Brad Schneider, Tom Malinowski, Conor Lamb, Abigail Spanberger, Elissa Slotkin, and others.

“After terrorists in Gaza fired more than 4,000 rockets at civilians in Israel over just 11 days, the House of Representatives passed the Iron Dome Supplemental Appropriations (H.R.5323) by an overwhelming bipartisan margin,” they wrote. “This critical legislation would replenish Israel’s Iron Dome anti-missile batteries. Justice accuses Bannon lawyers of trying to turn case from legal proceedings to media circus

The Justice Department is accusing lawyers for Trump ally Steve Bannon of filing "frivolous" legal complaints to create media hype around the defense of the criminal charges their client faces for refusing to comply with a Democrat-led House committee's demand that he comply with its Jan. 6 probe.

The agency filed a 10-page document Sunday night in which prosecutors say Bannon attorney Evan Corcoran has repeatedly rebuffed their efforts to negotiate an evidence-sharing agreement, a standard part of the process in criminal trials, according to Politico.

Bannon was a White House political adviser for President Trump. He refused to comply with the subpoenas issued by the select committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot demand he testify and supply documents related to the incident, amid speculation he helped plan the incident.

The agency argues that instead of negotiating, Bannon’s defense used a public court filing Wednesday — and a statement to the Washington Post — to complain about the case.

"The defense’s misleading claims, failure to confer, unexplained wholesale opposition, and extrajudicial statements make clear the defense’s real purpose: to abuse criminal discovery to try this case in the media rather than in court,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Amanda Vaughn writes in the document.

Bannon appears to be attempting to slow the criminal proceedings against him and use the case to attack Democrats.

However and used a court appearance earlier this month to foreshadow efforts to delay the case for months.

“I’m telling you right now, this is going to be the misdemeanor from hell for (Attorney General) Merrick Garland, (House Speaker) Nancy Pelosi and (President) Joe Biden,” Bannon said after his initial court hearing earlier this month.

A judge has set a Dec. 7 hearing to revisit the trial schedule, Politico also reports.

Virginia Public Schools Reinstates Two Books After Complaints of Pedophilia and Pornography

Fairfax County Public Schools has reinstated two books despite complaints from parents that the literature depicted and legitimized obscene and pedophilic material. Parents confronted the school board with the graphic images contained in the books beginning in September. Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) announced the books were restored to libraries after two committees reviewed them.

The books, “Lawn Boy” and “Gender Queer” have been determined by the District as helpful to the LGBTQ community. Fox News reports “Lawn Boy” by Jonathan Evison includes long sections of a boy reminiscing about explicit experiences he had at 10 years old. “Gender Queer: A Memoir” is by Maia Kobabe and includes photos of sexual acts between a boy and a man.

Virginia mother and president of Parents Defending Education, Nicole Nelly, told Fox News last week, “It’s appalling that Fairfax County’s response to parental feedback is to quibble over the definition of ‘pedophilia’ and to shame and denigrate families who are concerned about this material.”

“By attempting to normalize this content – and reinstating these books under cover of darkness right before Thanksgiving break – FCPS has demonstrated that in their eyes, parental input is a bug, not a feature, in the system” added Nelly.

In an interview with Fox News, Stacy Langton, one of the mothers who first confronted the school board, says “plenty” of Democrats and liberals are also calling her to say they “don’t want their kids exposed to this in school…this is FCPS coming out and explicitly saying they are in favor of porn in schools for your children.”

FCPS, however, claims that two committees comprised of school administrators, librarians, parents, and students determined that the books did not contain pedophilia, nor did they violate regulations by including obscene material.

“The decision reaffirms FCPS’s ongoing commitment to provide diverse reading materials that reflect on our student population, allowing every child an opportunity to see themselves reflected in literary characters” said FCPS in a released statement.

“Both reviews concluded that the books were valuable in their potential to reach marginalized youth who may struggle to find relatable literary characters that reflect their personal journeys” the statement continued.

Michael Sabbeth, Colorado attorney and author of “The Good, The Bad & The Difference: How to Talk With Children About Values” says “the Board’s assertion cleverly employs a logical fallacy—a strawman argument.”

While the board’s “refutation alleges the material affirms students with ‘marginalized identities’ and acknowledges the ‘difficulties nonbinary and asexual individuals may face’, their justification ignores and fails to negate allegations of obscenity, pornography and or pedophilia” states Sabbeth.

“Ironically, the Board’s justification demeans those it alleges to support. If, for example, pedophilia is in a book, arguing it helps youngsters is morally beneath contempt. To virtuously support those individuals, the Board need do no more than advance this unambiguous message: Treat all people respectfully” Sabbeth concludes.

The company’s unlawful promotion of certain prescription drugs, its failure to report certain safety data, and its civil liability for alleged false price reporting practices.

The United States further alleges that GSK sponsored dinner programs, lunch programs, spa programs and similar activities to promote the use of Paxil in children and adolescents. GSK paid a speaker to talk to an audience of doctors and paid for the meal or spa treatment for the doctors who attended.

Between 2001 and 2007, GSK failed to include certain safety data about Avandia, a diabetes drug.

The missing information included data regarding certain post-marketing studies, as well as data regarding two studies undertaken in response to European regulators’ concerns about the cardiovascular safety of Avandia. Since 2007, the FDA has added two black box warnings to the Avandia label to alert physicians about the potential increased risk of (1) congestive heart failure, and (2) myocardial infarction (heart attack).

It also includes allegations that GSK paid kickbacks to health care professionals to induce them to promote and prescribe these drugs as well as the drugs Imitrex, Lotronex, Flovent and Valtrex. The United States alleges that this conduct caused false claims to be submitted to federal health care programs.
