One day Saul's son Jonathan, said to his armor bearer, "Listen, let's sneak across the valley and go up to the Philistine camp. I don't care how many of them there are. The Lord might do some kind of miricle and let us get rid of them!"
The other young man said, "I'm with you! Let's do it!"
Jonathan said, "This is what we'll do when they see us. If they call, 'Get away from here or we'll kill you!' then we'll stop. But if they say, 'Come up here and fight us!' we'll know that's God's way of letting us know he is going to help us win."
When the Philistine soldiers saw the two young fellows, they yelled, "Will you look at that! The Israelis are crawling out of their holes! Come on up here, and we'll give you a fight!"
Jonathan and his friend climbed up the rocks and started fighting. They killed about twenty men, and the other soldiers became afraid. Soon the whole army was in complete panic, which became even worse when God sent an earthquake. The Philistine soldiers were so confused that they started killing each other as they all tried to run away!
Over the Israeli camp, Saul's sentries could see that the Philistines were disappearing, so the Israeli soldiers came out of hiding and ran after them- and God gave them a great victory.
Happened to read this to my children yesterday from their storybook Bible.
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31
