Reminds me of the early "Official MKUltra" test subjects.
Some of which got their brain-bridge (not sure of actual term) severed.
It actually made little to no change in the actual persons psyche. However from that point on they only had control of one side of the body and even subconsciously ignored everything on the other side of them.
Like asking them to draw a picture would result in them only drawing half and when asked why they stopped they would always come up with lame excuses like "I didn't feel like finishing it".
But the really scary part was how the other side of their body seemingly acted autonomously and often with malicious intent.
Many reported that the hand they didn't control were out to kill them.
Now take everything i just said as metaphors and apply them to this Hivemind.
And you will know why unity is important.
