Energy from waste - it makes economic and ecological sense
The waste-fired power plant in Mannheim began operations in 1965 already. Following several rounds of expansion, it now incinerates waste for more than one million inhabitants in the Rhine/Neckar region.
Closed-loop resource-efficient cycle
Mannheim Cogeneration Plant meets the highest technological standards. Non-combustible components are emitted as slag. These residual materials are put to new use in numerous areas, thus making a meaningful contribution to a closed-loop resource-efficient cycle.
Boiler 6 - waste incineration with high capacity and maximum output
The launch of operations with the new Boiler 6 in 2009 alone increased the plantโs capacity by 10 percent. In line with the German Closed Substance Cycle Waste Management Act, the household waste and materials from commercial and industrial customers supplied to the plant are incinerated and used to generate energy.
