Q never named itself.
We named it Q based on the final tag in most of its posts.
The Q could easily be just as much part of the "code" as the rest.
I'm pretty sure Q is and always was Anon.
At this point I'm convinced that they're picking names based on how absurd they can get.
It's like:
Gates: "You think we can get away with calling it Decepticon?"
Fauci: "Nawh… it's too obvious. What about Omnicon?"
Gates: "Still too obvious I think. What about Omicron?"
