Erie County official found dead in Cattaraugus Creek: Buffalo, NY

"WBEN has obtained a copy of a text message that was allegedly to have been sent to hundreds of people, including dozens of Erie County workers from Fitzgibbons personal cell phone Sunday. We're not releasing the content of the text as it can't be verified and is part of an ongoing investigation. Fitzgibbons had reported his phone went missing Sunday according to reports."

"Fitzgibbons clocked into work at the Rath Building before 7 a.m. Monday, but his body was recovered less than four hours later.

In addition to serving as an Erie County official, Fitzgibbons worked part time as Lackawanna's city marshal."
