Doctor who oversaw Epstein autopsy quits

New York City’s chief medical examiner Dr. Barbara Sampson, who oversaw the autopsy of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after his reported suicide, has resigned for a job in the private sector after nine years in office.

Sampson announced her impending resignation in an interview with ABC News on Monday, as opening arguments began in the trial of Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell. After 23 years with the city’s medical examiner office, she is taking a job with the Mount Sinai Health System.

“I was clearly a role model for so many women who are interested in careers in medicine, in science, and in government. I found that now looking back extremely rewarding,” she told the outlet.

The first woman to serve as New York City’s ME, Sampson oversaw multiple high-profile autopsies. In August 2014, her office ruled that Eric Garner – a black man who died during an attempted arrest in Staten Island – died of homicide caused by “compression of neck (choke hold), compression of chest, and prone positioning during physical restraint by police.”

When the police union pointed out that the hyoid bone in Garner’s throat hadn’t been fractured, Sampson responded it was “false” that this would have necessarily happened due to a chokehold.

The officer involved was eventually fired, but was not criminally charged. Garner’s family received a $5.9 million settlement from the city.

Five years later, in 2019, Sampson would rule Epstein’s death in the Manhattan jail to be suicide. The disgraced financier had been awaiting trial on more sex trafficking charges. He allegedly used a sheet in his cell to hang himself. A Justice Department investigation found that the guards did not do any of their rounds that night, while video cameras at the facility malfunctioned.

The autopsy revealed Epstein’s hyoid bone had been broken, which is possible in cases of suicide by hanging, but also happens in cases of strangulation.

Facebook staffer secretly advised Andrew Cuomo’s team to ‘victim shame’ accuser

A Facebook manager who once worked for Andrew Cuomo secretly advised the disgraced ex-governor’s team to “victim shame” a sexual harassment accuser, according to text messages released this week by the New York Attorney General’s office.

The Facebook staffer then sought to cover up her involvement in advising the governor, the messages reveal.

“Like I’m nervous about FB knowing I’ve been working on this etc etc.,” Dani Lever, the former Cuomo staffer, wrote in March about her new employer. The same evening as that message, Cuomo spokesman Rich Azzopardi told Lever he’d gotten her name removed from a news story that was set to come out.

“Rich I could kiss you but it seems like bad form this week,” Lever replied as the governor was embroiled in allegations he’d acted inappropriately toward staffers.

Both were scrambling to help Cuomo respond to the allegations that ultimately led to his resignation. Lever, who has worked for Facebook since August 2020, advised the then-governor’s team for months, according to the messages.

In one instance, Lever helped Cuomo aides decide how to smear Lindsey Boylan, a Cuomo staffer who accused the governor of sexual harassment in December 2020.

“I think we can victim shame on the record,” Lever wrote in a December 2020 message to Azzopardi and Melissa DeRosa, the governor’s No. 2. Lever also helped share Boylan’s personnel records with reporters, according to the attorney general.

Lever compared the “victim shaming” strategy to how President Joe Biden responded to sexual misconduct allegations from former senate staffer Tara Reade during Biden’s 2020 campaign, the texts show.

“This was part of Biden’s response by the way. Biden camp said ‘this absolutely did not happen’ then gave statement,’” Lever wrote.

A few days later, Lever quipped to Cuomo ally Linda Lacewell, “I still don’t know why we are talking to Gov lol. But I’m here for the ride.”

Lever’s work for Cuomo even included confronting a former Cuomo staffer for “liking” a tweet from an accuser named Charlotte Bennett.

“You liked Charlotte’s tweet? Call me,” Lever said in a series of messages to the the ex-staffer, Andrew Ball, in February. “Was that on purpose?? Can you unlike it.”

Ball then replied “done” and Lever responded with a heart emoji. Ball, who was no longer working for Cuomo, told investigators that he had un-liked the tweet because he wanted to preserve his relationship with the governor and his team.

The messages were unearthed as part of Attorney General Letitia James’ investigation into sexual misconduct by Cuomo, which ultimately led to his resignation in August.

James has since periodically released material from her investigation in what Cuomo’s camp has sought to portray as a politically motivated bid to boost her own campaign for governor.

CONFLICT: Reuters Chairman is Pfizer Investor and Board Member.

The chairman and former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Reuters news agency – James C. Smith – is a top investor and board member for pharmaceuticals giant Pfizer. He was elected to the board in 2014, as well as joining Pfizer’s Corporate Governance and Science and Technology Committees. The news raises serious conflict of interest concerns as corporate media outlets such as Reuters continue to promote Pfizer products, defend pharmaceuticals companies from criticism, and move to silence skeptics.

Smith is currently the Chairman of the Thomson Reuters Foundation, the London-based charity known for providing news and information to billions of readers. He was also the President, Chief Executive Officer, and on the Board of Director of Reuters from 2012 until his retirement in 2020.

He has worked with the organization since 1987, when they were known as the Thomson Newspaper group. He has also served as the CEO of the professional division, overseeing legal, tax and accounting, and intellectual property and science businesses. Later, he went on to lead the North America operations for the news organization.

In an official statement at the time, Ian Read, Pfizer’s chairman and CEO said: “We are pleased to have Jim Smith join Pfizer’s Board of Directors. He brings leadership and operational and international business experience to Pfizer’s Board, and will be an excellent asset to the company. The addition of Jim to our Board helps ensure that Pfizer will continue to benefit from a breadth and variety of experience.”

In the last year alone, Reuters has published more than 22,000 articles mentioning Pfizer. The company has only published 8,191 articles related to Moderna, and 18,000 related to Johnson & Johnson. Many of the articles about Johnson & Johnson were negative in sentiment, unlike their Pfizer reporting.

Smith is also linked to the World Economic Forum (WEF), where he serves on the board of Partnering Against Corruption Initiative. He’s also a member of WEF’s International Business Advisory Boards of British American Business and the Atlantic Council.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Smith also holds the position of President & CEO of Refinitiv Transaction Services, Ltd, who boasted $6.25 billion in revenue with more than 40,000 customers and 400,000 end users across 190 countries. Refinitiv was a member of the Thomson Reuters Group until 2018.

Jussie Smollett trial witness says actor staged attack, wanted to be ‘fake beat up’

CHICAGO — The man Jussie Smollett allegedly paid to help him stage a hate crime took the stand in the actor’s criminal trial Wednesday, describing how he took part in the hoax because he thought the ‘”Empire” star could help push his own acting career.

Abimbola Osundairo, 28, told jurors in Chicago’s criminal court on day three of the trial how Smollett directed nearly every aspect of the alleged fake attack, from the racial and homophobic slurs him and his brother, Olabinjo, were to use down to who should throw the punches.

“He explained that he wanted me to fake beat him up,” Osundairo testified.

“I agreed to do it because most importantly, I felt indebted to him, to Jussie,” Osundairo said “He also got me a stand-in role on ‘Empire’ and I also believed that he could help further my acting career.”

Osundairo and his brother are at the center of the sensational trial as the prosecution’s star witnesses after they told police they were paid $3,500 to help the former “Empire” star stage the hate crime on a frigid night in January 2019. Smollett’s team denies the allegations and said the men intended to attack him.

Smollett is facing six counts of felony disorderly conduct for lying to police and if convicted, faces up to three years in jail.

Abimbola, who also worked on the set of “Empire,” testified that he and Smollett met through mutual friends in 2017 and over the next year and a half became extremely close as they spent time together smoking weed, visiting strip clubs and having sleepovers at the star’s Streeterville high-rise.

Around 9 a.m. on January 25, 2019, Abimbola said he received a curious text message from Smollett asking for his help “on the low” and if he was available to meet up “face-to-face” to discuss.

Later that afternoon, Smollett picked Abimbola up and from the front seat of the actor’s Mercedes Benz, the infamous plan was hatched, he testified.

“He asked me if he could trust me and I replied, I said ‘yes’ and then he talked about how the studio was not taking the mail seriously, the hate mail he’d received earlier,” Abimbola said, referencing a threatening letter Smollett claimed was sent to him at the “Empire” studio.

“I was confused, I looked puzzled and then he explained that he wanted me to fake beat him up,” he continued. “He told me that we would need another person to fake beat him up and he mentioned could my brother do it? I said yes.”

Smollett then drove Abimbola back towards his neighborhood where they picked up his brother.

Lauren Sanchez’s brother sold Jeff Bezos’ racy texts to Enquirer for $200K

The brother of Jeff Bezos’ former mistress sold the billionaire’s risqué text messages and selfies to the Enquirer for hundreds of thousands of dollars to reveal their affair in 2019, according to a report Wednesday.

Michael Sanchez, the brother of the Amazon honcho’s lover — former Fox News Anchor Lauren Sanchez — was paid $200,000 by the publication’s parent company American Media LLC for the texts and images, people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal.

A talent agent who has managed television pundits, Michael had been a source for the Enquirer and its top editor, Dylan Howard, for years before selling the photos, according to the Journal.

Unlike most sources, who are paid by the firm for photos upon publication, the contract with Sanchez required that he be paid upfront, regardless of whether any story ran, the paper reported.

The firm’s general council also added an unusual provision into the Oct. 26 contract with Michael to make it clear the deal wasn’t a “catch and kill” to prevent the information from being revealed, according to the Journal.

Publisher David Pecker approved the $200,000 deal — higher than the company normally pays sources — at a time when the company was strained financially, according to the paper.

The deal sparked a feud between the tabloid and the world’s richest man — along with internal fights at American Media, the paper reported.

In one case, Pecker and the firm’s general counsel had a blow-up over the unusual contract before the Enquirer published the story in January 2019, when Bezos was still married to MacKenzie Scott, the paper reported.

Before the story ran, the Enquirer asked Bezos for comment on Jan. 7, prompting him to announce two days later that he and Scott were divorcing after more than two decades of marriage.

When the story ran, the print edition proclaimed, “BEZOS’ DIVORCE! THE CHEATING PHOTOS THAT ENDED HIS MARRIAGE” and featured pictures of Bezos and Lauren Sanchez together with steamy text message quotes.

Bezos soon accused Pecker of blackmail and politically motivated extortion.

Asked for comment this week, Sanchez said he didn’t want to “dignify” the Journal’s reporting on the contract and denied sending “the many penis selfies.” But he declined to say whether he sold other photos of Bezos to the Enquirer.

A spokesman for Bezos declined to comment and Lauren Sanchez didn’t respond to the paper’s requests for comment.

In May, Bezos pushed an unfounded theory that Saudi Arabia was behind the revelation of his affair.

Taliban vs ISIS War In Full Swing: Explosion In Kabul, Clashes In Jalalabad (Videos 18+)

A large explosion took place in Kabul on November 30. At least five people, including members of the Taliban, were injured as a result of the incident.

According to local reports, the road-side bomb exploded on Dar-ul-Aman Avenue not far from a school. According to unconfirmed reports, the target of the attack was an open-backed vehicle like a Toyota Hilux.

No group has claimed responsibility for the explosion yet.

At the same time, Taliban forces carried out a counterterrorism operation in the city of Jalalabad, capital of the eastern Afghanistan’s Nangarhar Province. In early hours, Taliban fighters raided the ISIS hideouts in the 1st Police District of the city. As a result, heavy clashes erupted. According to reports, several ISIS members were killed. The Taliban officials are yet to comment on the issue.

The Taliban’s operation in Jalalabad is likely a response to the recent ISIS attacks on vehicles belonging to the Taliban members. On November 22, ISIS claimed responsibility for attacks on Taliban vehicle in the PD1 and PD3 of the city of Jalalabad.

The Taliban conducts operations against the terrorist group’s cells and supporters on a regular basis. Yet, the group’s influence continues to grow. The group may soon attempt to take over some parts of Afghanistan.

Over the past months, Afghanistan has been suffering bombings, armed attacks and shootings in various provinces, including the capital region, the victims of which were both Taliban and local residents. ISIS-K appears to be intensifying its operations in the Afghan capital, challenging the very heart of the Taliban’s new regime.

Aussie Police Arrest Teen 'Fugitives' Who Escaped From COVID Internment Camp

Three teenagers who escaped a Northern Australian Covid internment camp were arrested by police, who say they don't believe they came into contact with members of the nearby community and "the health risk to the community was very low," adding "But there is absolutely no excuse for the actions of these three this morning."

According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), the three teens from the Binjari community near Katherine, aged 15, 16 and 17, tested negative for the virus yesterday. They had been confined to quarantine for being 'close contacts of positive cases,' only to scale a fence and escape at 4:30 am Wednesday morning.

NT Police Commissioner Jamie Chalker said officers found the trio on the edge of Palmerston and arrested them after a chase on foot.

He said the young people are still being interviewed but "early indications" were they had not had any contact with members of the public.

The facility is housing people affected by the Katherine region COVID-19 outbreak as well as returned travellers from repatriation flights, including a man who tested positive for the Omicron variant on Monday.

Each of the teens faces a fine of up to $5,024. According to Chalker, they will beef up CCTV coverage at the facility, and that they would discuss making more contact with lonely residents whose isolation 'may have been a trigger' for the escape.

"I also want to point to the overwhelming compliance that we've had, given several hundred people have been placed into the Centre of National Resilience linked to the clusters from Robinson River, Katherine, Binjari and Rockhole," he said.

France Deploys Military Police To Caribbean Islands Amid Unrest Over Vaccine Mandate

The French government has deployed military police to the Caribbean islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe amid intensifying protests against COVID-19 vaccine mandates and other pandemic related restrictions.

Following several weeks of unrest and violent protests over COVID-19 measures—including a vaccine mandate for health care workers—police reinforcements were sent to the French Caribbean territories on Tuesday.

Compulsory vaccinations for health workers, a measure already introduced on the French mainland, had fuelled resentment among the islands’ population.

Sebastien Lecornu, the minister for France’s overseas territories, said 70 gendarmes had arrived in Martinique earlier in the day, in addition to two squadrons that were deployed from metropolitan France unannounced, to help clear road blocks.

“Social dialogue is not possible without a sound basis and that sound basis is the re-establishment of freedoms … and our capacity to re-establish order,” Lecornu told a press conference in Martinique after meeting its leaders and trade unions.

In Guadeloupe, home to some 400,000 residents, 70 police reinforcements were sent on Tuesday along with 10 extra SWAT team members to help shore up security, Lecornu said.

‘Unbelievable’: Twitter’s new CEO once said the company isn’t ‘bound by the First Amendment’

Sky News host Paul Murray says “unbelievably” the new CEO of Twitter said the company’s role is “not to be bound by the First Amendment” during an interview last year.

It comes after Parag Agrawal – who was the company’s chief technology officer – replaced Twitter’s co-founder Jack Dorsey as CEO.

“Our role is not to be bound by the First Amendment, but our role is to serve a healthy public conversation and our moves are reflective of things that we believe lead to a healthier public conversation,” Mr Agrawal said during the 2020 interview.

“Remember, your right to free speech is in the Constitution of the US, but Twitter says that doesn’t apply to them, and more importantly, you,” Mr Murray said.

Jewish Question

The Jewish question, also referred to as the Jewish problem, was a wide-ranging debate in 19th- and 20th-century European society that pertained to the appropriate status and treatment of Jews. The debate, which was similar to other "national questions", dealt with the civil, legal, national, and political status of Jews as a minority within society, particularly in Europe during the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The debate was started within western and central European societies by politicians and writers who were influenced by the Age of Enlightenment and the ideals of the French Revolution. The debate's issues included the legal and economic Jewish disabilities, Jewish assimilation, Jewish emancipation and Jewish Enlightenment. The expression has been used by antisemitic movements from the 1880s onwards, culminating in the Nazi phrase of the "Final Solution to the Jewish Question".Wikipedia

‘Tool to Enforce Orwellian Rules’: 80 House Republicans Help Pass Bill to Fund Federal Vaccination Database

Eighty House Republicans voted with Democrats on Tuesday to pass the Immunization Infrastructure Modernization Act, which if passed by the Senate and signed into law would fund a federal vaccination database.

According to the bill, also called H. R. 550, the government would provide $400 million in taxpayer dollars to fund “immunization system data modernization and expansion,” a system otherwise defined as “a confidential, population-based, computerized database that records immunization doses administered by any health care provider to persons within the geographic area covered by that database.”

The text specifically outlines an expansion of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Public Health Department capabilities and the ability for state and local health departments, as well as public and private health care providers, to share health data with the federal government.

In a statement, the bill’s main sponsor, Democrat Rep. Ann Kuster (NH), said the system would be used to “remind patients when they are due for a recommended vaccine” and identify areas with low vaccination rates to “ensure equitable distribution of vaccines.” Notably, the bill has four Republican co-sponsors: Reps. Larry Bucshon (R-IN), James Baird (R-IN), David McKinley (R-WV), and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA). Not one Democrat voted in opposition to the bill.

Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL), who was one of the 130 Republicans to vote “no,” told Breitbart News exclusively on Wednesday that the legislation would enable the federal government to “track” unvaccinated Americans who “will be targeted and forced to comply with Biden’s crazy ‘global vaccination’ vision.”

“These systems are designed to allow for the sharing of crucial information and maintenance of records. Do we really trust the government to protect our medical records?” Miller said. “The bill’s author even bragged in her press release that these systems will help the government remind patients when they are due for a recommended vaccine and identify areas with low vaccination rates to ensure equitable distribution of vaccines. This was clearly a legislative tool to enforce vaccine mandates and force their Orwellian rules onto those who do not comply.”

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) also voted “no” on the bill, citing “Democrats’ habitual pattern of reckless and wasteful spending” in an exclusive statement to Breitbart News. The congressman said the legislation only serves to expand the power of the federal government and trample individual rights.

Democrats, Big Tech Billionaires Unite to Keep DACA Illegal Aliens in U.S. Jobs

Democrats and billionaire executives for giant tech corporations are urging the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to keep illegal aliens, enrolled in former President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, in American jobs.

In July, Judge Andrew Hanen ordered President Joe Biden’s administration to shut down the DACA program by blocking the federal government from allowing new applicants, illegal aliens who have not previously been enrolled, onto the program’s rolls.

Months later, in September, Biden’s DHS issued a draft regulation that would effectively preserve the DACA program that has allowed more than 800,000 illegal aliens to remain in the United States and hold American jobs since 2012.

In a letter to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Senate Democrats including Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Cory Booker (D-NJ), Alex Padilla (D-CA), and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV), along with a number of House Democrats,}[] urged the administration to move forward with the regulation and expand the program to include more illegal aliens.

The Democrats write:

To preserve family unity, we urge you to update the DACA threshold criteria to include individuals who had lawful status on June 15, 2012. One of the threshold criteria in the proposed rule is that DACA applicants must have “had no lawful immigration status on June 15, 2012, as well as at the time of filing of the request for DACA.” We ask that DHS to update these criteria to allow individuals who had lawful status in the United States on June 15, 2012, but subsequently lost such status by the time of their request, to qualify for DACA. This update could be accomplished by changing the above criterium to read: “had no lawful status at the time of filing of the request for DACA.” [Emphasis added]

We also encourage you to consider adopting additional changes to DACA eligibility requirements that would enable more Documented Dreamers to utilize the protection this program offers if the unlawful status requirement were revoked. Specifically, we urge you to consider removing the threshold criteria that require requestors to have continuously resided in the United States from June 15, 2007 to the time of filing of the request. We also support adjusting the dates in the threshold criteria to provide relief for individuals who arrived in the United States after 2007. These adjustments would help a greater number of Documented Dreamers access relief and avoid accruing unlawful status. [Emphasis added]

Likewise, executives at Amazon, Google, Cisco, the Intel Corporation, IBM, and Meta Platforms have sent a letter to DHS asking that DACA work permits be preserved and that Congress grant amnesty to DACA illegal aliens.

“DACA recipients help us innovate on behalf of customers and are a critical part of our diverse workforce,” the executives wrote. “… DACA recipients enrich our companies and the economy in different ways.”
