This all started on 4chan/pol/ before the election. It began as a response from the denizens of 4chan/pol/ to the emergence of non-organic "protests" like Occupy Wall Street, Antifa, Berkeley riots, DNC corruption, investigating every mass casualty event as a potential false flag (gun control push), the exposure of MK Ultra involved with all of these young "shooters", election/voter fraud etc. It started out as a light hearted romp to counter mis-information campaigns of the mainstream media but it soon took a more serious turn.
In the lead up to, and after all of the chaos surrounding the 2016 election and all of the information dug up as background that tied massive numbers of people in positions of power in media, finance, news, pharma, politics that had serious baggage with pedophilia. This led /pol/ to develop what is now known as "Pizzagate". Though widely panned by the MSM, the information derived was substantial and the extent of it was horrifying. It did serve the purpose of being a catalyst for a more organized effort to combat the evil (no other word for it) being done by the Cabal/Elite's as they work to destroy our freedom in order to dominate the entire world.
The "self organization" of this effort as cbts (calm before the storm) came from a Trump comment at a dinner with his military heads. That's where "Q team" started posting in late 2017. Q team is self described as 7 military, 2 or 3 civilians possibly associated with the Trump administration. This has been in the planning stage for a long time, possibly decades. When cbts really got rolling it was subjected to relentless ddos attacks, shill storms, gore porn, etc. It was soon driven from 4chan and coalesced on another more secure board, Infinitychan or 8chan. It has been titled cbts, CBTS, The Storm and is now known as QResearch. This is the only place the Q team posts. No outside comm's. There is a heavy Marine presence both on Q team and among the active members of the board.
The thing that really got it going in an organized fashion was the murder of DNC employee Seth Rich.
Seth Rich was almost certainly the source of the DNC/Podesta emails that ended up with Julian Assange of Wikileaks. He was outraged by the dump on crazy Bernie by the DNC. He was in contact with both Wikileaks and KimDotCom (of MegaUpload fame). Both are foreign nationals which opened them up to FISA surveillance. The previous administration had a nasty habit of unmasking Americans caught up in the bogus FISA surveillance. The consensus was that when/if it was brought to light that Seth Rich was unmasked and subsequently murdered because of his promulgation of the DNC emails it would cause "political Armageddon".
It indeed looks like that is where we are headed now with the revelations coming from Devin Nunes, Adm. Mike Rodgers, AG Wm. Barr etc. These are the visible players in Trumps campaign to "drain the swamp". You will see the "swamp" referred to as the Cabal, the deep state (DS), the Elites, the Illuminati, the NWO, the globalists, the Bilderbergers, the CFR, the Council Of 300, the FED, the international bankers etc.
None of these are wrong as they all represent a facet of the elite few who really do run the world. George Soros is a public face of all of the interlocking interests that are working to destroy America as founded. Progressives, socialists, communists, anarchists, whatever you call them are just tools of the Cabal to achieve an end to national sovereignty, freedom, and the rule of law.
There are a lot of crazies on here that just post stupid stuff. There is a small cadre of people who likely fall somewhere on the autistic spectrum who are expert at recognizing patterns in all the noise. This effort has been going on for several years and has had some sterling results. You will spot cross posters in the comment sections of popular news aggregators such as Breitbart, Daily Caller, Gateway Pundit, Zero Hedge, Epoch Times, Conservative Treehouse, Last Refuge, Twitter, Reddit, etc."

Start with the welcome page. It's kind of cheesy but gets you started. If you continue to be interested you'll want to read the Q posts. There's a lot of them and many won't make sense until you've been lurking (not posting) for a while. It's dense by design. Most of the old guard recommend lurking for months to years before posting, as almost everything of interest will cycle through eventually. There's some cultural artifacts remaining from /pol/ such as demanding "sauce" (sources), misspellings, distracting T&A, kek (lol) etc.
