Leo Frank was found guilty of raping and murdering Mary Phagen and was sentenced to hang. Then had his sentence commuted by a crooked politician. Community said, nah. Kidnapped him from prison and then lynched him. Technically, they were just carrying out the sentence that was handed down after he was found guilty.
