Yes, Nancy orders hits on live television.

‘Members Threatening To Kill Other Members’: Retiring Democrat Slams Nancy’s ‘Hostile Work Environment’

Photo of Jonathan Davis Jonathan DavisDecember 3, 2021

Democratic retirements continue to mount ahead of next year’s 2022 midterm elections which are already being heavily handicapped in Republicans’ favor, thanks to a number of factors not the least of which is President Biden’s rising unpopularity.

Long-serving Rep. Pete DeFazio (D-Ore.) is the latest to announce his retirement which came on Wednesday “as [Democrats’] landmark bills are getting neutered in the Senate” and in the states, “they’ve already started a brutal round of redistricting as President Joe Biden’s approval rating nosedive,” Politico reported Thursday.

A number of Democrats, many of them senior party members who are also retiring, say that they have never seen so much vitriol between members.

“Let’s face it: The atmosphere in this place — it’s a hostile work environment,” retiring Rep. Ron Kind (D-Wis.) told Politico. “We’ve got members threatening to kill other members and treating each other with such disrespect. … Things seem to be getting worse.”

He may have been referencing a recent anime posted to Rep. Paul Gosar’s (R-Ariz.) Twitter account in which ‘he’ was depicted in a character ‘killing’ a character featuring Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s bust. But Democrats have been just as feisty; Sen. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire said this week there could be a “revolution” if the Supreme Court reverses Roe v. Wade; and ‘AOC’ herself accused all Republicans of being racists after she said House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) presided over the “KKK caucus.”

Politico noted further:

The retirement of DeFazio, chair of the House transportation committee, sent a shock wave through a caucus already clinging to its small majority after months of infighting. The departure of a high-profile gavel-wielder, whose seat became much safer in redistricting, has left many Democrats asking the obvious question: Who’s next?

Even those who plan to stick around for another term are less than enthusiastic about it.

“If you’ve been here a long time, it gets old after a while,” noted Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.). “Especially with redistricting and the likelihood of us potentially losing the majority, a lot of folks … are looking at this as the high-water mark.”

“This place is a slog,” noted Rep. Scott Peters (D-Calif.). “People maybe thought that being in the majority would solve all the problems, and it’s hard, too.”

Some senior Democrats have pointed to some bright spots including a recently passed bipartisan infrastructure bill, a favorable redistricting map in Illinois, and the potential to pass a once-in-a-generation expansion of the federal social safety net — should it get enough votes in the Senate.

But at the same time, Democrats are increasingly coming to the realization that they are clinging to their small majorities by a thread, with most, Politico reported, under the impression the party will be in the minority again heading into 2023.

“Most people don’t get elected to be the goalie” in the minority, Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.), told Politico in recalling his previous time in the minority “Most people want to get out there and do something, and that’s why they run for Congress. And that’s the biggest challenge.”

And many House Democrats are especially frustrated with some of their colleagues in the 50-50 Senate, where many of the more ambitious left-wing agenda items have stalled or died.

“It takes a lot of the sense of power that you have, especially as a chair,” said House Budget Chair John Yarmuth (D-Ky.), who is also retiring next year.

“I’m a new chair. But I can tell you it’s hard, especially when you have smaller margins, trying to get things done,” noted the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s chief, Rep. Greg Meeks (D-N.Y.). “The climate here has changed.”

Politico added:

Most painful for Democrats are retirements by swing-seat members like Kind, Rep. Cheri Bustos in Illinois and Rep. G.K. Butterfield in North Carolina, as well as the departures of Reps. Charlie Crist in Florida, Conor Lamb in Pennsylvania and Tim Ryan in Ohio — who are all seeking higher office.

That’s not counting one of the party’s biggest mysteries: the future of its House leaders. None of the so-called “big three” — Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn — have revealed their plans for 2022, although Pelosi has previously said this would be her last term.

Ex-Obama Lawyer Tied To Hunter Biden Is Behind Ruby Freeman's Lawsuit Against Gateway Pundit

Ruby Freeman, Wandrea “Shaye” Moss, and Protect Democracy have collaborated to sue The Gateway Pundit after the conservative news powerhouse published photos and videos that The Gateway Pundit, 45th President Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and others have suggested show Freeman and Moss committing voter fraud. Georgia authorities say neither Freeman nor Moss acted inappropriately.

National File has learned Protect Democracy is run by a seasoned Democrat operative who served in the Obama administration as associate White House Counsel.

In an article on his website, The Gateway Pundit’s Jim Hoft reported that “On Wednesday Georgia election operatives Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea ‘Shaye’ Moss sued The Gateway Pundit, Jim Hoft and Joe Hoft for allegedly conducting a ‘campaign of lies’ against the two women that led to online and in-person harassment against the two women.”

Hoft continued, “We learned this news earlier today from The New York Times, Washington Post, NBC News, Yahoo, Reuters and several others who were tipped off on the news before it went public.” He added, “The organization behind the lawsuit is called Protect Democracy, a large far-left political organization.”

National File has since learned that Protect Democracy was founded by Ian Bassin, a former associate White House Counsel for President Barack Obama from 2009-2011 who more recently was tapped as part of the questionably named Transition Integrity Project in preparation for the 2020 election.

The Gateway Pundit was the first publication to identify Freeman as the woman who jumped to national prominence after being featured in a presentation delivered by Giuliani. Video showed Freeman and other election workers removing ballots from concealed black cases and processing them late at night, after observers had left the facility. Soon after Freeman was identified, her daughter Moss was identified as the one of the other election workers captured in the security footage.

The website is raising funds for its legal defense via the Christian crowdfunding website Give Send Go, and has raised nearly $80,000 at the time of publication.

On the Protect Democracy website, and in news articles from Reuters and The New York Times, it is claimed that Moss and Freeman became subject to a months long campaign of intimidating and offensive phone calls and messages. These alleged communications were often racist, according to Moss and Freeman.

Protect Democracy describes itself as “a joint website of United to Protect Democracy and the Protect Democracy Project,” one being a 501(c)(4) and one being a 501(c)(3). Both were founded in 2016 with the goal of thwarting the then-incoming Trump administration’s agenda.

Ian Bassin is co-founder of both United to Protect Democracy and the Protect Democracy Project, as well as the executive director of Project Democracy.

Bassin is a Democrat operative and was an associate White House Counsel to President Obama from 2009-2011. After Obama’s second term ended, Bassin became active in anti-Trump politics with the founding of United to Protect Democracy. The organization’s primary aim was to thwart President Trump’s agenda.

Months before Joe Biden was declared the winner amid sharp criticism in November 2020, and before it became clear that President Trump intended to contest the election in several states, Bassin was tapped to become part of the Transition Integrity Project as early as September of 2020. This group aimed to see Joe Biden installed in the White House come January 20, 2021.

Prior to this, Bassin “headed the far-left Avaaz network, founded in turn by the leftist MoveOn.org group, as well as the Truman National Security Project, which has featured lead Joe Biden policy advisor Jake Sullivan and Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden on its board,” according to The National Pulse in an article written on September 14 of last year.

“The critical connection comes through President Obama’s former associate White House Counsel, Ian Bassin, who heads the anti-Trump litigation efforts Protect Democracy Project and United to Protect Democracy,” the publication reported:

The revelations destroy the Transition Integrity Project’s central tenet: that it is a non-partisan and independent organization that simply seeks to secure the fair results of the upcoming election.

The group has previously attempted to claim that it “takes no position on how Americans should cast their votes, or on the likely winner of the upcoming election.”

It is unclear why the lawsuit against The Gateway Pundit was launched more than one year after the 2020 election, however, Moss was recently set to be deposed as part of a civil lawsuit filed against Fulton County, Georgia by supporters of President Trump who maintain that credible evidence suggests the 2020 election was fraudulent.

This lawsuit and another raising similar allegations that Fulton County, Georgia mismanaged the 2020 election have been dismissed recently this year. National File understands that both have since been appealed, one to the appellate level and another to the Georgia Supreme Court.

Special Counsel Durham found the e-mails Fusion GPS tried to hide

Sanctionable conduct.

Back in May, we reported on the fight brewing in a DC federal court, where Fusion GPS and Glenn Simpson were trying to keep secret their internal correspondence and records relating to their role in pushing the Alfa Bank/Trump hoax. New court filings indicate Fusion GPS and Glenn Simpson improperly failed to disclose some of their most damning e-mails.

Overview

For background, the fight arises out of a lawsuit – Fridman, et al. (Alfa Bank) v. Bean LLC a/k/a Fusion GPS, and Glenn Simpson, where the owners of Alfa Bank have sued Fusion GPS and Simpson for falsely accusing “the Plaintiffs—and Alfa (“Alfa”), a consortium in which the Plaintiffs are investors—of criminal conduct and alleged cooperation with the ‘Kremlin’ to influence the 2016 presidential election.”

The case was filed in October 2017. Litigation has been ongoing for over four years – with Alfa Bank still fighting to obtain written discovery from Fusion GPS that is material to its case. Our previous report had to do with that very discovery dispute. Back in May, Alfa Bank “filed a motion to compel, asking the Court to require Fusion GPS and Glenn Simpson to produce nearly 500 critically important documents improperly withheld as privileged.” (More background here.)

These documents included e-mail correspondence within Fusion GPS regarding the “Alfa Playbook” and showed the early development of the Fusion GPS/Simpson work on Trump/Russia. One would assume this entails the early or emerging thought process of the “intelligence” group as they sought to falsely accuse the Trump campaign of colluding with Russia.

In a later post from July 2021, we observed that records indicated Fusion GPS had been in contact with Michael Sussmann of Perkins Coie regarding Alfa Bank. More communications Fusion GPS is trying to keep secret.

What nobody realized at the time, however, was the importance of these communications. Michael Sussmann – the DNC/Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer – would later face false statement charges and be basically accused of being part of a conspiracy to defraud the federal government with respect to the Trump/Alfa Bank allegations.

The Latest Developments

Today, the attorneys for Alfa Bank filed this their “Supplement to Plaintiffs’ Second Motion to Compel Defendants to Produce Documents Improperly Withheld as Privileged.” The motion was filed to inform the court that Fusion GPS and Glenn Simpson (and/or their attorneys) “possess numerous documents responsive to Plaintiffs’ RFPs [requests for production] that [Fusion/Simpson] neither produced nor included in their privilege log.”

[Brief interlude: generally, the parties request and exchange documents in a federal civil case like this. A party can avoid producing documents where they claim a privilege – they just need to typically submit a “privilege log” to the other side. This doesn’t mean the privilege will ultimately prevail.]

What does the latest filing by Alfa Bank reveal?

Fusion GPS/Glenn Simpson (or their attorneys) failed to submit in the privilege log certain communications ultimately uncovered by Special Counsel John Durham. I’ll let the Alfa Bank motion explain:

In other words, Fusion GPS/Simpson deliberately withheld the disclosure of these e-mails in their privilege log. The very e-mails that very likely point to a conspiracy to push the Alfa Bank/Trump hoax by Perkins Coie, Glenn Simpson, and Rodney Joffe (“Tech Executive-1” listed in the Sussmann complaint), et al.

Once Alfa Bank discovered their misconduct, Fusion GPS/Simpson were quick to list these e-mails in their latest privilege log. An example:

This is a serious non-disclosure by Fusion and Simpson (or their attorneys). The consequences could include sanctions (such as reimbursing Alfa Bank for having to file various motions to compel). Or the court could determine this to be an abuse of the discovery process and outright force Fusion GPS/Simpson to produce all e-mails they are currently withholding relating to Alfa Bank and Perkins Coie.

From the outset of this dispute, we believed Fusion GPS and Glenn Simpson would be forced to produce to Alfa Bank nearly all e-mails it possesses relating to the Alfa Bank hoax. These latest developments reinforce that belief - and the belief that they’re fighting to keep secret e-mails that are extremely important to understand their role in deceiving the public in the Trump/Russia hoax.
